I just keep all my wallets in DropBox (encrypted in case I get hacked). This way if my disk gets corrupted (it happened once and I lost my bitcoin wallet since i had no backup - luckily only 0.20btc) I just download it again. The second good thing is that I can put it easily on other computers as well.

Why not put them usbs or burn them to discs as well?

If you're storing any significant amount of coin you should always maintain an offline backup.

- Move your wallet.dat to a safe place.
- Update the client.
- Move your wallet.dat back so you have access to your balance again (after you have tested the client and it's safe).

There you go. If you're super paranoid you could also write or print down the private keys out and then just enter them back in again on your new wallet so even if there's a problem you'll still have the coins.

Hi everyone I have just gone thru and downloaded the new versions of a couple wallets that I needed. I have been putting off upgrading for a few days as I am super paranoid about loosing all my hard mined coins.

What is the safest and easiest way to update my wallets?

Cheers !!
