Sometimes I get power drop outs for about 1 minute or so, so I was wondering what type of UPS should I use?

Keep in mind that a UPS also consumes power, for example my 3kVA unit uses about 100 Watts just to keep the batteries floating and it's electronics running. If there is a 1 minute power drop, your power socket that now draws 1250 Watt max will have a much higher load for a few minutes, to fully charge the batteries again + the normal load of your machine, this might push your breaker over the edge. Make sure to do the math before you shell out money.

Try Walmart, here's the main search page I use:

http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?tab_value=all&search_query=ups&search_constraint=3944&search_sort=4&cat_id=3944&pref_store=4260&ic=32_96

I got a Cyber power 800 watt UPS ($140) from them 2 years ago, works great. Will only last about 8 minutes with the load I have on it,but it gets me thru the 10 second power drops & lightening strikes.

As a point already touched on, as long as it is rated to be able for you to draw the sort of wattage you require of around 1.25kW, it won't matter if it lasts 5 minutes of 60, if your outages are only 1. Also make sure you have things like your router and modem are connected too.
No point keeping the Rig up if it can't stay connected.

We use a few APC battery backup units at work, but they're like $600 units holding our servers for up like 35 minutes.

A cheaper unit would be good for 1 minute stalls, but the cheaper ones also limit the amount of power that can pass through it.

Hey guys,

I have a machine happily hashing away in my garage.

It uses a 1250 W Seasonic X PSU.

Sometimes I get power drop outs for about 1 minute or so, so I was wondering what type of UPS should I use?

I live in Australia and the voltage here is about 230.

Thanks
