It seems to be possible if you know what China is going to say next.  I wouldn't advise it.

True lol. If you have insider info, you could predict the market movement easily. Wink

Nobody knows. Everyone is guessing. If somebody says they know, they are lying or they are delusional.

So 'day trading' is just gambling?

Technically, life is just a big, unfair gamble.
Most people hold on to a good amount of bitcoin, and pray to the cypto-currency God.

pure technical analysis really fails with bitcoin(y, I tried it myself). You need to stay tunned in the news and in the forum, and have some luck. I think we are in a small fall trend now, not because of the graphs, but because the huge storm of bad news and because China manipulation.

I'd say it is possible but not easy and by that I mean you'd have to have some general experience doing something like that IMO.

Its always been a uptrend, look at where the time lapse since 2012 and grown awareness.

There should be a infographic that you can see what stages bitcoin has been through.

From the good bad and ugly and being adopted with higher retail taken notice.

Is it possible to predict the bitcoin market at all or is it that btc's value only known retroactively?

If I have to answer this in one word I'll say no..! even the trading experts will answer the same.. this thing is you can't predict it right every time because there is no mechanism to do so you might get it right once or twice based on your market and trend study.. but not every single time..!

Yeah, but aren't most if not all investments a gamble? If someone tells you otherwise they're probably lying or trying to sell you a scam.

Pretty much so IMO.

Some use charting (technical analysis) to "predict" the price movement, but I have no idea if it works or not.

This is like the ultimate question for everyone trading stocks lol.

Am I right to say that no one knows what the btc's value will be in 1 minute, or an hour, or a day, or even a week, or a year?

You might get lucky once or twice, but no, it's not really possible. Usually the value follows good or bad news, so if you hear of some first you might be able to predict a rise or fall, but sometimes nothing at all happens so it's not really foolproof.
