What's ironic about this is that the police are using the exact same arguments for acquiring this equipment that 'supposed' gun nuts in the NRA use, yet the police aren't met with nearly as much opposition from people.... Interesting Smiley Going by this logic as long as we all wear military uniforms or camoflauge gear of some kind when we go out people are totally okay with guns.

Urban Shield: after Ferguson, police and suppliers consider fate of military-grade tactical gear

<< Giant black armoured vehicles, assault rifles, gas masks and drones: the modern face of policing in America is on display at a four-day police trade show in Oakland, held mere weeks after a fatal police shooting in Ferguson, Missouri. >>

Well, isn't that something?  Oakland, about as communist radical as you can get in USSA, and not a peek from protesters about this type of event?  Wait, they are totalitarian radicals, all those ex hipsters from long ago, so they maybe like this stuff.

You know, all this gear should make those no-knock raids safer.  The ones where unfortunately dumb-ass cops break down the doors to the wrong house and are met by armed resistance?  And it would make them safer in the no-knock raids where they get the right house, too.  Because barging in and grabbing the crack and the cash and staying safe, that takes some gear, man.  Get yourself all geared up, and get ready.

Because it's really not about the terrorist they tell you to be worried about on the TV.  It's about taking the cash while doing the job of getting the drugs.  The cash is just a bonus.  The War on Drugs, well, it's a tough job but someone's got to do it.

The problem with giving police these things is that they're going to eventually want to use it not keep it stored and out of sight. Let's face it, most men tell everyone they know if and when they bought an AR-15 so it's only natural to either feed the ego or the testosterone.
