Literally like trying to find a needle in a haystack! - I did search well over 8k but no joy!
I think I'm doomed!  Angry
I definitely received the BTC address from my ledger along with the LTC one at the same time so I really am confused.
The only other thing I can remember is that I set up a Blockchain wallet around the same time but I never requested a receive address from it. How could I check that? Apologies - as you can see I am not an IT or techy person!
The coins surely have to be somewhere, no??

I should probably have mentioned that it would be in the first 100 addresses or it wouldn't be there... Undecided

There are effectively an infinite number of addresses. So, you'll be doing it a while if you wanted to search all of them.

If the address isn't in your list on "sign message", and it isn't showing on BIP39 tool... then your current seed/Bitcoin wallet DID NOT generate that address. I'm not sure where you got that address from, but from what I can tell, it isn't from your Ledger. Undecided

I've tried to generate "3" type addresses using other coins like BCH, BTG etc... but BCH doesn't support SegWit and BTG uses "A" and "G" addresses...

Did you have ANY other wallet apps on your computer? Is there anyway you copied a "3" address from a different wallet app? Huh

Hi,

I followed your instructions and have currently searched 3,000+ addresses - is there any quicker way to search the correct address than searching manually?

Also how many addresses is there?

If it's there, what would I then do?

And if not - are the coins lost?!

Is your "3" (SegWit) address showing in the Ledger Wallet Bitcoin? (If you look under "sign message", rather than on the "receive" tab)? If it is showing, then chances are that it's a network issue, and the wallet just hasn't synced properly.

If the address IS NOT showing, then at this point, the only suggestion I have is to see what SegWit addresses you get it you put your xpub into the BIP39 Mnemonic Code Converter (https://iancoleman.io/bip39/)

Click your "Account" in Ledger Bitcoin Wallet, then "Account Settings", the "Export" the Extended Public Key.

In the BIP39 Mnemonic Code converter... I had to fiddle around with it to show the correct addresses, but it looks like the correct method is to:

1. Paste the "xpub" into the "BIP32 Root Key" box at the top... leave everything else blank and ignore the "Invalid root key" error
2. Click the BIP141 tab
3. Script Semantics: "P2WPKH nested in PSH"
3. The BIP32 derivation path will probably already say m/0, but you need to delete it and then retype it (derivation path should still be m/0 but it NEEDS to be removed and retyped otherwise the page doesn't refresh properly) and then the "3" addresses will show below

If you do that, do you see the address you sent BTC to? If not, then you've copied an address from somewhere else... and not the correct "3" address for your Ledger Seed Undecided

No, I reset the ledger as I thought it wasn't working properly or I had set it up wrong. It gave me a new 24 word seed. Then I obtained both the BTC & LTC addresses separately - both SegWit. When I check my accounts on the ledger I always select the SegWit options as these were the addresses I obtained. When I got the addresses I got them from the 'Receive' option, not the 'Sign message' option in settings-tools.
Do you think my ledger could be damaged?

I did a ledger reset before I sent the 2 addresses to my friend but I don't think this is the problem as my LTC arrived fine.
When you say you did a ledger reset... do you mean that you entered the wrong PIN 3 times and got a new seed before sending the address? If so, did you reset the ledger between getting the BTC address and the LTC address?

When you originally copied the address, did you get it from the "receive" page, or did you use the "Settings - Tools - Sign Message" drop down to get the address?

Some possible scenarios are that you've actually used a BCH address instead of a BTC address... or maybe you actually copied a BTC address from before you reset the ledger... or it's possible that if you used the "sign message" page to get an address, you've actually selected one of the change addresses from the list, and it is an address from past the wallets "gap limit"...

What you might need to do is to connect your Ledger to Electrum, and then force it to scan for addresses using the following commands on the Electrum 'console':

Code:
for x in range(0, 50): print wallet.create_new_address(False)
and
Code:
for x in range(0, 50): print wallet.create_new_address(True)

NOTES:
- Get Electrum here: https://electrum.org/#download
- When creating the wallet, use the following options: "Standard Wallet" -> "Use a hardware device"
- If you can't see the console once the wallet is showing:  "View" -> "Show Console", and then click the "Console" tab)
- Copy/paste each command separately

Hi bob123,

The BTC address was definitely issued by my ledger.

No, I mean that when I check for the address in BTC Sign Message - it does not show it there anymore.

When I check the LTC Sign Message - the LTC address is still there.

The BTC has definitely not been sent to a LTC/wrong address.

I did a ledger reset before I sent the 2 addresses to my friend but I don't think this is the problem as my LTC arrived fine.

I have also checked all 3 chains (Legacy, Segwit & Don't Know) and still nothing!

Any other ideas??

If I reset/reconfigure the ledger will this work or will I lose everything??!

The transaction is confirmed on both Blockchain & Blockchair ..
Yes the transaction is showing as confirmed on Blockchain. How do I obtain the ID?

Since you already found your transaction on a blockchain explorer you can easily obtain your ID from there.
The link to a tx is the following https://blockchain.info/tx/YOUR_TX_ID.
But if those blockchain explorer show your TX as confirmed, thats not the problem in this case.

I have also noticed that when I check the address in the Settings - Tools - Sign Message of the Bitcoin Ledger Wallet, this BTC address is not there anymore.

If your BTC address doesn't show up in the signing tool, then it has not been generated by your ledger.

But when I check the LTC address the same way in the wallet - that one does show. Is this the problem?

Do you mean your BTC address does show up under the LTC signing tool?
In that case it seems you have sent your BTC to a (unknown/foreign) address which is coinciding with your LTC address.
This would mean your BTC are lost, since its not possible to 'recover' those.
However, if thats not the case: Did you check you are using the right 'chain' (BTC/BCH/legacy/segwit) ?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

Yes the transaction is showing as confirmed on Blockchain. How do I obtain the ID?

It was definitely sent to the correct BTC address.

I have also noticed that when I check the address in the Settings - Tools - Sign Message of the Bitcoin Ledger Wallet, this BTC address is not there anymore. But when I check the LTC address the same way in the wallet - that one does show. Is this the problem?

Any other ideas how I can retrieve/access them on my ledger??

I need help please!
I bought a Nano S Ledger to store my BTC & LTC. I gave my friend the receive addresses to send me them, however for some reason my BTC balance does not show on my ledger. The transaction is confirmed on both Blockchain & Blockchair so I can't understand why they are not showing in my ledger. The LTC is showing fine so I am very worried and confused.
I have tried everything: uninstalled and re-installed the ledger apps, google chrome and also reset the data. I have even tried reinstalling the apps through the ledger manager app.
Can anyone help me?
I haven't reset/reconfigured the ledger as I don't want to lose anything. Would this work or can anyone help without doing this?
Many thanks.

Do you have a transaction ID? Money simply doesn't disappear. The only thing i'm guessing is that you might have sent your bitcoin to a wrong adress, or the litecoin adress?

Also, are you sure your ledger is synchronized/connected properly? That could also be the issue

I need URGENT help please!

I got a Ledger Nano S to store my BTC & LTC. I then gave my friend the 2 correct Segwit 'receive' addresses from my Ledger to send me them, however for some reason only my LTC balance shows up on my Ledger and not BTC. The addresses were both correct and from my Ledger as these were checked at least 5 times before transferring. I obtained each address from the correct Ledger Wallet Bitcoin App through Google Chrome (using the Segwit chains).

The BTC transaction is confirmed on both Blockchain & Blockchair - here's the address: 36ezRREzDYH3uSvADoSSpoLZrFVigQkmLp so I can't understand why my BTC are not showing in my Ledger!

The LTC is showing fine in my Ledger so I am very worried and confused as to why the BTC is not there too.

I have tried everything: uninstalled and re-installed the Ledger Apps (including Ledger Manager), re-installed Google Chrome and also done the procedure of Resetting the Data by going into SETTINGS - TOOLS - RESET APPLICATION DATA. Because of this I don't think there is a software/sync problem. I even deleted the Bitcoin App from the Ledger and reapplied it with the Ledger Manager.

One thing I have noticed now is that the Segwit BTC Receive Address does not show up in the Ledger Wallet Bitcoin App when I check via SETTINGS - TOOLS - SIGN MESSAGE, however when I check this the same way for the LTC - the LTC one does still show up. Is this the problem? I have also exported my 'xpub' and checked the addresses that way but the address did not show up after checking well over 8,000!

Finally - I have not reset or reconfigured my Ledger yet through fear of loosing everything.

Please can anyone help me?
