But government and law is always way behind new and disruptive technologies, it's just the way it goes.

Not on this one.  Money laws have been around for far longer than Bitcoin, per my OP.

Thanks!

And thanks for that link on regulation, will read through. There are certainly some hurdles, but it's not impossible. This is such a new area for the government, they're trying to learn and catch up as quickly as they can. But government and law is always way behind new and disruptive technologies, it's just the way it goes.

We're in the middle of filing and dealing with that paperwork as we speak, always a fun process Smiley

1. Are you an MSB?
2. Are you registered as a money transmitter in your home state?

Yes we're making sure all of our paperwork is straight...compliance in the US is a very gray area indeed, we'll need to collect more information than the average signup from our users who wish to deal in USD. But we're definitely doing all of our homework to make sure we don't pull a Gox/Dwolla.

So why are waiting to launch?  is it because you are not yet licensed in all 50 states as a money transmitter?  Which states are you registered in?  What did it cost to become a money transmitter in California?

Make sure you guys check out Coin Market: http://coinmkt.com

Launching beta in early June, we started as crypto traders on BTC-e and wanted to make a US-based exchange that was easy to deposit and withdraw USD as well as trade multiple crypto-currencies. We're going to support ACH/eCheck and Dwolla to start, feel free to hit us up with questions, thanks!
