Well we can call t his accomplishment by the DoJ, but there are a lot of this groups plowing around specially in the crypto sphere.

And hopefully they will continue to investigate and dismantle this kind of groups so that there will be no crypto enthusiast victims. And to be honest, we are one of those being targeted by his cyber criminals because of the huge money that they can take. And they can operate undetected for years and so they rake up big profits here. And hopefully there will be justice here and long jail time for those arrested.
This is great news and a massive accomplishment by the US government. These criminals have been attacking many actors in cyberspace making it very unsafe. Some people will tell you that the reason why they decided to avoid investing in anything that is connected to the internet is because of these criminal actors. I know that they would seek other means to continue with these criminal activities but it will take them some time and resources to reassemble.

Hoping that the arrest and prosecution of Prince Onyeoziri Odinakachi and Daniel Meli for selling and supporting the malware will serve as a deterrent to others. I am also pleased that victims of Warzone RAT are also allowed to report to the appropriate authority.
Yeah, as per the original indictment, people who are victims here can report it to a email address. It's now the job of US DoJ to filter that out as there could be someone who will take advantage of that reporting system. These 2 individuals have rekt havoc already and so it's just about that the US DoJ will have to step up again and arrest this individuals, to get rid of this infrastructure for good. I wonder though what this criminals are feeling when they scam people with their RAT and then milking unsuspecting victims. For sure justice will be served here, the US DoJ will not chase this individuals and not have a airtight case against them.

It is great to see that criminals are being caught by the law enforcement agencies. The problem here is with the education. Similar to finance, cyber awareness should be a part of High school or college curriculum. Otherwise it's very difficult to uproot such issues. Criminals will be there but with right education and awareness, common people can stay safe.

Also do not forget about the older generation. It is very important for them to know about sach cyber related issues and how to stay safe. Issuing a circular by a government department is not going to solve this issue. It's great that these criminals are caught.

Yeah, everyone should be aware of this cyber criminals. Even enterprise are being attack, with social engineering and we have seen that they are very successful like we have heard companies like Twitter who have been under attack lately and other social media.

Yes, it's great to hear that this criminals are very caught and bring to justice and let's just hope that it will be long jail time. I think 5-20 years will not be enough for this kind of criminals, specially if it involved a lot of money and what kind of people they victimized.

But the problem is that it's either there are gullible people who really fall for this cyber criminals or the infrastructure are very poor that they can easily penetrate, or they are really becoming sophisticated that it's really hard to track down every malware groups and bots that they are created.

You have the right that education is not useful in preventing such cases because gullible people easily fall into the trap because of their greed and lack of experience, and these criminals have now gained great experience, whether in social engineering to attract the victim or by developing hacking programs using artificial intelligence tools that have become very advanced and have become Hackers use it to develop their capabilities.

There is no solution to eliminate the problem completely, but it can be mitigated as much as possible through education or by closing these suspicious sites.

Sounds good, but I'm still convinced that it's a drop in the ocean. I'm sure that 2 other websites have already taken over.

Isn't this an already lost battle? Shouldn't the US be devoting all these resources to educating people on the subject rather than going after the bad guys? In the long term, wouldn't that kill the problem more than just chasing after new criminals again and again?

I think the US is continuously giving warnings to everyone like here,

It could be a lose battle, but it's good instead of doing nothing from US 3 letter agencies.

On Friday, the U.S. Justice Department (DoJ) revealed the confiscation of online infrastructure utilized for distributing a remote access trojan (RAT) known as Warzone RAT.
