Oh boy, where to begin.  Roll Eyes

Al Qaeda. is Arabic for "the base", as in a military base. They formed years after the U.S. training and funding. The critical incident that led to attacks on the U.S. happened during the first gulf war. Bin Laden was incensed at the buildup of western troops on the Arabian peninsula. Even worse, sometimes female troops could be seen driving.

Not only is the base not aligned with the U.S., they are bitter sworn enemies. They make no secret of that fact. I would refer you to any statement ever made by the base.

I read an interesting article about the US funding Al Qaeda recently. Just be wary of the sources and the accuracy of facts.

Quote
The US government trained, armed, funded and supported Osama bin Laden and his followers in Afghanistan during the cold war. With a huge investment of $3,000,000,000 (three billion US dollars), the CIA effectively created and nurtured bin Laden's al-Qaeda terrorist network using American tax-payers money. Afghanistan is one of the world's poorest countries, where such an enormous sum sum of money would have had extraordinary value.

http://www.theinsider.org/news/article.asp?id=0228

They did not fund the terrorist group Al Qaeda directly. Instead, they funded various Mujahidin and rebel groups, one of which a young Osama Bin Laden was a part of. In particular, rebels were given stingers and taught how to build IEDs in order to fight the Soviet Union. Keep in mind that Bin Laden didn't say he was going to kill thousands of civilians when they gave money to him... The rebel groups said (truthfully!) that they would fight the USSR. However, after the US refused to help rebuild Afghanistan, support dropped, and Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and other groups became hostile to the US.

I don't think it's really fair to say that they "nurtured" his organization, since he was not a main beneficiary. At least it's not fair to say that it was on purpose.

There was no "Al-Qaeda" at that time to fund. "Al Qaeda" simply means "the list" in Arabic, and it was a list of fighters that were fighting against the occupation in Afghanistan and eligible to receive training, funding, weapons, and supplies. If the term "Al Qaeda" was actually first used by CIA operatives providing resources to fighters or the fighters themselves is unknown.

It actually means "the base", and it was not a list of fighters eligible to receive funding. Al Qaeda received the least funding, as it was only active when the Soviet Union was already on the way out.

It's a group formed by Bin Laden as the Soviet-Afghan war was coming to close. The name comes from simply what Bin Laden would call his training camps- "base" or "Qaeda" (from an interview with Al Jazeera in 2001: http://archives.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/asiapcf/south/02/05/binladen.transcript/index.html). The origin is not unknown, the leader of the organization has already said where it came from.

Either way, the U.S. helped to fund them and then pissed them off enough for them to start hating us worse than the USSR. Of course many muslim nations already hated us, but now with ready-made and trained fighters (courtesy of the U.S. government), they had a way of indirectly attacking us in various ways, though until the last 10-20 years so haven't made too dramatic of an effort to inflict suffering upon us. The building of a butt-ton of victory mosques in the U.S., though, goes to show just how much they are winning right now, though (with the biggest one being the "memorial" for the flight that went down in PA on 9/11).

It's kind of sad, really. We created our own enemy (with or without forethought on how to maneuver them into doing what the powers that be wanted in order to control us at home with even better excuses).

How fucking stupid are people around here?  Angry Angry Angry

OF COURSE AMERICA IS AL QAEDA!!!!

Smart enough to know about bitcoin, but probably more interested in how much fake money it can make them, instead of how important it really is, politically.

The whole war on Terror is made up in order to take away your rights here at home. (Including your bitcoins, fools!)

Did people just figure this out?

How fucking ignorant and stupid can people be?

It actually took you this long to realize this?  Angry Angry Angry Angry

NO WONDER THE COUNTRY IS IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!

That's not necessarily true. Just because al-Qaeda is a phoney organisation doesn't necessarily mean it is American. It could just as easily be an exclusively Israeli controlled group, or a collaboration between Israel and the USA.

  It's very thoroughly documented.

This has never been a secret. You don't have to hide anything, you just have to make sure there is more misinformation than true information.

OF COURSE AMERICA IS AL QAEDA!!!!

Did people just figure this out?

In any society, only about 10-20% of the population has the interest or the insight to see through the schemes and designs of their political and financial rulers. Of that percentage, only a fraction makes it a lifelong effort to inform the rest of the people of the dangers that face them.

People don't listen and they don't learn from history. It does no good to get mad about this fact. Keep learning and keep spreading the word, but don't get mad when no one listens. If you can change one person's mind in a year, you're doing better than most.
