mine's < 5%.

However, I understand that ppl were saying each chip is somewhat different.. so you might get one that has higher HW rates..

So here are my HW errors as a % of total accepted + rejected shares over a period of about 35 hours:

BF0 5586/(54864+290)= 10.1% HW error rate
BF1 4371/(56599+218)= 7.7%
BF2 3639/(53856+385)= 6.7%
BF3 4021/(57589+347)= 6.9%
BF4 6522/(54942+307)= 11.8%
BF5 4849/(55921+254)= 8.6%

so basically ranging from 6.7% to 11.8% error rates.

btw: no overclocking, pencil tricks or anything else. Average hashing speed is 2.29Gh - 2.41Gh...

Can anyone tell me if this is normal for their red bitfury (Redfury) chips?

Thanks for all of the replies, I have tried BFGMner. Still does the same thing. I'm thinking that these hubs are crap and need to be replaced.

What USB hub is reccommended?

You're probably trying to fix a non-issue. Hardware errors are normal with ASIC devices. That's why I made the errors less verbose in a later version of cgminer because they kept scaring people.

Try BFGMiner instead. It has an easier command line for usb miners

bfgminer.exe -G -S all

The -G prevents GPU mining.

Also just because you got an upgraded power adapter doesnt mean the USB hub itself isn't shit. I got some cheap chinese USB hubs, the 10 port ones, and even with direct 5 volt wired in from the computer power supply, I could only reliably get 6 USB miners to work at any given time. Putting in more would cause solid green light, or massive HW errors, or super high hashrate and not submit shares.

Your only solution is to get a real USB hub that is high quality and already reviewed to consistently power 10 USB miners without issues.
Or just direct plug them into your USB ports on the motherboard.

I had the same issue with my hub when I first got it. I changed a few things:

1) --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S \\.\ COM5 -S \\.\COM12 -S \\.\COM13

note the "\\.\" before the com ports. Shouldn't make a difference with the single digit com port but it was causing issues on my end.

2) Move the usb erupters around. I have a 7 port 2A hub and I found that I needed to space them in a certain configuration to get them to draw power correctly. If you don't know which ports are wired in series with which others and which ports are wired in parallel with which others, you're going to be guessing and checking for a bit. But while 6 amps SHOULD be enough to run every port, sometimes the power draw is a bit screwy and you'll need to space them differently.

Common power distributions will group the USB ports with power supplies like this (Assuming a 12 port hub like yours):

plan 1: AA BB CC DD EE FF
plan 2: AAA BBB CCC DDD
plan 3: ABCD ABCD ABCD
plan 4: ABC ABC ABC ABC

If the error rate is under 1%, then the sticks have sufficient power and are running normally.

You could try a newer cgminer that has hot plug support and try removing and reinserting the sticks after they start giving errors, but around 1% is normal.

Have you tried bfgminer? I found it to be much more reliable with my Erupters. As in, it works.

Just install the VCP drivers, nothing else, and fire up bfgminer with the -S all parameter.

I'm using CGMiner 3.1.1. I've got a Satechi UH-12P 12 port usb 2 hub, with an upgraded 5 volt, 6 amp power supply. When I run CGMiner, everything works fine for a few minutes, then 3 of the erupters will randomly start giving errors:
