I heard that there are new USB miners, with high performance and low power consumption. I do not remember exactly the manufacturer of this device. but I think they are the future of mining

Dont think that the profit from usbminer product will be large.
depends on the amount of miners.  Can always go for solo mining and hope to hit a block.

How to find out mining cost if we are using USB??
Depends or do vary on each place
Or check what usb port you use and wiki what the max output of that port is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Power

Usb miners works fine with new coins. The one I have it gives around 0.5 usd per day using a i7 processor. The device cost around 65 usd. It is mining 4 small new coins that are in a mobile wallet for android. So you could reach 150 usd per year depending on coin market price. But i see that when Btc raises the performance in value of the coin are higher. The real issue is that we don't know if in one year these coins could be sold or have even a value. But concept is interesting. Many coins have asic resistant algo, so this increase the chance to use usb miners for low realistic profits.
This is a meager income, if you collect a farm you need at least a hundred of such miners. Otherwise just does not make sense because of cents to do this

In most cases, the profit from using usb miners is zero or very small.
Do not forget about the fact that this miner in next  2-3 years you cant sell to anyone - nobody will need it

Personally I think USB miner is not a good choice anymore for mining altcoins!  Because most of the time you will be fed up by seeing the zero profit! Though i did not try it,  but some of my friends tried last year and the experience was horrible!

Jokes aside, it actually is. Plug it into your rig, configurate it, and let it do its magic.

im interesting into USB miner too, its been so long searching this thing but no one can makes me had an interests in owning it, still make same comparation the advantage and deficient side from mining with USB miner or GPU. most people might suggest mining with GPU are way more recommended rather than USB miner, but im curious about USB miner, its look more friendly and easy to operate with low cost. thank you for any advice in advance, i will consider every single of your opinion.

Very rare to see someone who have made something meaningful from this kind of mining, it is very unpopular among notable miners, maybe for educational purposes like someone said. Even mobile miners earn more. Would better learn to trade than this

The choice to buy a USB miner is just a matter of costs as @jstefanop rightly said, and not profitability; not even OP has ever asked for comparisons and opinions on profitability, because I believe he will have understood that he will get little, but in the meantime he can learn this new and complicated world.

If you buy a raspberry you can't expect to run advanced programs or complex calculations, so why do you ask Roi huge for a USB miner? That does not make sense.

I am using USB miners. I bought from a China company and I have 50 available. We can mine 5 different altcoins and the monthly value using a regular desktop Pc is about 3-4 Usd per month per Usb at actual Btc price. If you want I can send anywhere in the world by air mail. It's easy and it works. Write me privately if interested.

I agree that USB miners are funny and a good gadget for an experimental/educational setup... but if you want to really learn about mining and want to get the best investment for your money I would use the money to get at least a used GPU to target new coins and get things going...
Don't know how long you'll need to mine using a USB stick to have enough amount to be able to exchange it with profit (depends on the coin of course, but i mean that there are fees to be paid)
Electroneum, like someone said, might also be a good option and you can use your phone...

The whole point of USB mining is not really about profitability. Its about enabling people that dont have money to buy expensive GPUs/ASICs to just use a spare USB port on their computer and be up and running with just 40 bucks.

Will a 40 dollar investment make you thousands? Probably not, but the whole point is to bring new people into the ecosystem. They learn what cryptos are about, and earn a little bit of crypto while they are at it.

Most people that buy my USB miners dont use them themselves, they gift them to people that would never think about crypto, but its a fun and engaging way to get them into the ecosystem.
This is definitely correct but i do still believe that there are ones who do plan to purchase up these USB's for the sake
of making money with less money that they do pull out of their pockets/wallets.This is really just good for educational
purposes only but profitability? Then its a far cry from reality.  Grin

Hey guys,

not sure this is exactly the right place, but as it is about mining alts I think it might fit.

Does anyone of you guys know about an Asic or Fpga capable of running Cryptonight V1, the algorithm monero used until October 2018 (not Cryptonight V0).

Or do you know someone who might know? I have indirect proof that at least FPGAs exist.

I would be happy if someone could put me in touch with someone who knows or just provide information about the specifications of it (power usage, hashrate, price).

I'm offering
- a reward of 0.1 ETH for verified information about technical specifications
- a reward of 0.5 ETH for any contact to a legit source for that hardware.

Cheers and thanks

As for me, it's really questionable if one can make profit with USB miners. Use it like a starting point but don't get too serious with it.  Surely you may see your reasons here but in my opinion, GPU is more profitable as many people already mentioned here.  But if you are determined, read a bit about Dualminer USB ASIC. Probably you'll like it and hopefully it'l bring you some profit.

It seems to me that this idea is not very profitable in terms of making a profit.
Good old miner with GPU no one will replace in the near future

That`s true, at least when you have GPU you can do other stuff too, you can sell it after all, and you will find a buyer. Who use this usb miners, I think this was just a way for someone to earn some money by tricking people to buy something useless. In the end it`s better to buy a coin than to buy a usb miner and try to mine something, you will get more coins with simply buying it.
Well, I think the point of this is that the USB miner isn't profitable. even when you feel loss, you will not be able to sell it to people in general, except those who are interested in it. I have never searched for information about UBSminer. but, I only suggest that when you really want to mine, you should build a rig with a new GPU, such as NVIDIA 1080 Ti, or equivalent. You can sell it to gamers if you feel disadvantaged in this matter.

Best response - jstefanop's USB miners and the Apollo podminer are exactly what you're looking for. Accept no cheap copies or compromises ;-) Obviously they won't make you rich overnight, but they will do exactly what they claim to do, which is really as much as you can ask for.  Keep up the good work etc!

I was thinking of buying a USB miner three years ago to mine new coins in the market with low difficulty, but after reading a lot of bad reviews and disadvantages I forget the idea and just do bounty campaign and buying coins, GPU is more competitive than USB miner forget USB there are better options.

You are very lucky that you never bought the USB miner cos you would have cried over your wasted money. Am currently using GPU and my friend that bought USB has to join cos the USB he bought was worthless
Not only worthless and that will be totally useless at all when each of this USB worth almost or even more than $100 and then just try to add a few bucks again and we get rx580 used.
That's will be very worth compared with USB miners.  Cheesy I always prefer to get second-hand GPU rather than it.

There are some of them even for altcoins mining, you can find them by doing a search on Ebay. These devices do not produce any decent amount of a coin even if you have a lot of them. You can work and play with them if you want to learn mining and use it later in real mining devices like Antminers etc.

From findings and few reviews from friends that attempted such, it wasn't a good venture as it is not really profitable and eventually becomes a waste of time, there many other ways to earn in crypto and especially now that we are in bull season, investing in reasonable low valued coins that will likely make 10x is better than such

Mining using USB is just good for educational purpose only which the same been said above but for profitability
or income matters then its an impossible thing for you to generate even a penny.

How to find out mining cost if we are using USB??
Depends or do vary on each place but i dont see to bother up yourself on computing using USB yet these can be connected
to your CPU or if you do have multiple USB miners then you would simply connect it on a HUB.Just try to look
their Wattage and compute it on your own.  Grin

Short answer.  Yes and Maybe.   Yes to your first answer on USB miners that can mine altcoin.   However profitable all depends on what you are calling a profit.  $1 a month well would be consider a profit compared to $0.  You won't make any big $$ off usb miners.  However for a hobby miner they are neat.

I have 3 different types currently running.  I have 2 futurebit moonlander 2's mining Digibyte at 720Mhz and netting just over 8Mh/s combined. That's about 3 cents a day ($0.03).  Futurebit has the Apollo that 2nd batch is currently being worked on and slated for end of June I think?  Some have reported up to 100Mh/s to 120Mh/s using the new Apollo on Scrypt algo.    At 100MH/s that would net you about $0.42 a day at current values (As of 5/16/19).

I have 4 GekkoScience newpac's running at 400Mhz and getting 90Gh/s each, 361Gh/s combined total.  This if I was looking at profits would net me $0.12 a day.   So between this and the moonlanders that would net me 15 cents a day Cheesy

However I'm not looking for profits and the power they are using doesn't affect my electric (low to no cost for me).  I have the gekko's aimed at Litecoin Cash and getting about 10 coins every 24 hours.

And lastly I have 2 of the new Gekkoscience R606 pods.  They are getting ~ 1 Th/s each on volt setting 5 (7 total settings) and uses about 48 watts per pod.  Not bad.  Smiley  2 Th/s would net me $0.65 a day.  If I was looking to make a profit with all of these added up would be $0.80 a day.  And since I don't pay electric about $24.00 a month.

However like the others, I'm not looking for a immediate profit.  I did have these pods mining Litecoin Cash and was getting about 56 coins daily.   However tonight I've pointed them to solo mine Digibyte.

Most people use these pods and newpac's as a bitcoin lottery machine so to speak.  I however mine altcoins with them.  Smiley

Also these R606 are quiet!  They are no louder than a Desktop PC rear exhaust fan.  My moonlander fan's are louder lol.  Which this makes the wife happy as me having a full fledge ASIC miner in our house is highly frowned on lol.  I don't have a garage or a storage area offsite to set them up as of yet.  So for me, this is a low cost start.

And the Apollo's are next on my list.  Smiley

  <---- The newpac's and moonlanders

<---- The R606's.  They were just restarted on DGB solo mining so haven't averaged out at time of posting.  After a few hours these should level out at 1.817 Th/s.

There are articles about your question online, one of the prominent one is this https://coincentral.com/usb-asic-miner-profitability above all writeups, i belief direct experience is better than any theoretical analysis.
USB mining might not be profitable to BTC mining but some altcoin can bring in some profits.
Articles that are very helpful, but my question is there an altcoin that really can bring profit if it is mined using a USB asic miner? , because I don't know yet whether there are altcoins that can use asics other than ethereum

USB Miners will only be good for setup/educational purposes. These won't make any money most likely as they can't compete even with GPU hashrates.

You can never have the results you could achieve with an Asic or Fpga or a good GPU, but as other users have already said, there are several USB miners on the market, even used, and they also have good profitability; obviously you should use them with coins still little known and with low difficulty.

There's a lot of older ones that aren't very profitable anymore, though even with the newer stickminers you won't get a great amount of profit compared to bigger ASICs.

One of the more popular ones released somewhat recently include the Futurebit Moonlander 2s which are pretty widely available in North America. Jstefanop sells them and they're pretty solid units. As for older alt miners, there's also the DualMiner sticks released a few years ago that only hash Scrypt at around 70KH/s, a fraction of what the Moonlanders do. The DualMiner sticks do look pretty neat though, and they are also capable of mining SHA256 at a relatively slow hashrate too.
