Why would you need to get bitcoins down there?  You can buy them anywhere of course.
No, I was looking  for bitcoin sellers here in New York City.

I've honestly thought about heading down that way just to make money hand over fist saving the livelihood of some good Argentinean folk. Maybe when Ripple gets out of beta that would be a great place to start testing it out.

I honestly believe that digital currencies really have a shot at taking off in a place like Argentina where horrible management of the economy has screw up their currency. Good luck man!

Hello, I'm a newb to bitcoins.  I am considering going to Argentina (was last there in 2008).
Because of the inflated official exchange rate it doesn't make sense to get money from atm's now.  The black market or "blue" rate is nearly double the official rate.  Thus it makes sense to:
change dollars through an arbolito;
use xoom to get pesos at the blue rate; or
sell bitcoins to someone for pesos.
If I do go down to BA I will probably sign up for eudemocracia.org and look for buyers.
As for getting bitcoins, localbitcoins.com looks like a possibility.  Has anybody reading this used localbitcoins and can vouch for its usefulness?  I looked at the sellers in town here and a lot of them have never made a single sale... it's probably just that the bitcoin market is thin, but thought I'd ask here.
