I've seen many Accounts with negative trust on this forum. When I checked I discovered their offence was the use of Multiple Accounts.

My question is
Why do people use Multiple Accounts?
Does it mean that one Account is not enough to post on this forum?

There are some who like to live double standard life and speak differently from the sides of their mouths with more than one account. Some say it is to keep different personalities. They act cool with one account and then hot headed with other accounts. We have seen how new accounts attack high ranked members here and report allegations about them instead of using their known account. They are scared of anyone knowing the personality associated with their main account. Another reason is for joining multiple bounties to earn for themselves. They create this accounts for that reason. Posting with multiple accounts without enrolling in the same bounty with them is not a crime. It becomes a crime when enrolled in bounties of the same company.

I wonder how many accounts Satoshi had in life. And he had them through various VPNs so that they couldn't be tracked easily.

Of course, that isn't accounts in Bitcointalk. But maybe he has several of them right here, and nobody has figured it out, yet.

Cool
Why would he use various VPNs? A VPN over Tor would do the job, he is indeed lurking around with different accounts, joining the conversations that are of interest to him. However given the fact that he is a billionaire with so many other important things to do, I doubt he frequents these woods much.

I'm going to report two accounts I found to be operated by the same user.
There's nothing wrong top having more than one account unless they are purposely created for scamming other people, abusing campaigns/bounties. Bitcointalk forum allows having more than one account but they should be used on good purpose.

And doing signature campaign with all of them, earning passive money, injustice. Where are the alt hunters lol.

Read the tag completely or just visit the reference because usage of multiple accounts is allowed and most probably for security concerns users have secondary account when they need to post something from other device which may be less secured.

People will get negative tags only if they abuse the multiple accounts for example joining the same campaign with both of their accounts, exchanging merits between themselves to farm ranks, etc.

OP, why are you asking a question, not from your active account? Let's ask you first why you opened two accounts and started looking for cheaters ?
Buddy, everyone has already gone through everything here, creating a new topic with a complaint about cheating, and only after that you ask of why people open alternative accounts. Holy innocence, you don't know, huh? Man, people in the bounty are ruled by greed.
I can tell that your merit fishing has failed. You are a bad fisherman.

Lol... A bad fisherman.
I wonder how lovesmayfamilis easily catch cheaters. Do you mean that Op actually owns an alt and yet comes to ask if one account is not sufficient for everyone. And also threatens to report alt accounts.
It's fine, maybe it's a mistake and the op wanted to be sure if it's a crime and then they can correct it.

Having multiple accounts and then participating in bounty campaigns would result in negative trust. If you have seen such account then check whether these accounts are participating in any bounty campaigns. If yes, then report them to the respective bounty managers. They will look into it and act accordingly.
It's not 100% correct.

Not all campaign have a rule about no multiple accounts, even you found someone use 10 alts in this campaign, it doesn't result in negative feedback.

Having multiple accounts and joining multiple campaigns is fine as long as you're not using 2 accounts to join one campaign, only one account for one campaign.

I would also add few campaigns even accept negative trusted users, so each campaign manager have their own rules.

Why do people use Multiple Accounts?

it's a good question, especially who have multiple accounts from developing countries.

The economic factor is 2nd reason to create multiple accounts here. the more accounts the more you get the money.
There is some member who has some piece of good knowledge but has a post limited for payment. so he made another account and join another btc campaign.

so whatever the purpose, Greedy is the main factor.

Who are you going to report that to?

The standard on this forum is that negative trust should be left for alt accounts only if they've been used to violate the rules of the foum or if they were used to cheat in a bounty or signature campaign.  Simply having more than one account isn't grounds for negative feedback, and I don't think there are many examples of that--at least not feedback from DT members, because that would kick up a fuss pretty quickly.

Edit:

Having multiple accounts is not an offense by itself on this forum. If you encounter a negative trust rating with such an explanation, it is a sign of misuse of the trust system. (I honestly didn't notice such trust ratings from DT members based on multiaccounting. Perhaps you have some example to show?)
Doh!  I should have read through all the posts first, because I ended up saying basically what you just said.  Anyway, if there are negs from non-DT members for having multiple accounts, nobody is likely to care and there may be plenty of examples of those that fly under the radar.

There are good reasons for using multiple accounts. Keeping the main one secure for instance.

If you can handle more than one account, you can create another one. There are rules on this forum that should not be broken while using multiple devices.

Why do people use Multiple Accounts?
Because they can and it's not against forum rules, unless they are doing ban evasion.
There are different reasons people use multiple accounts, and it could be for privacy reasons, for financial benefit, for use on multiple devices, for cheating, etc.
Better stick with one account, increase post quality, help other members and increase your activity gradually.

Does it mean that one Account is not enough to post on this forum?
One account in forum it's more than enough in 2023.

I also haven't seen any DT member giving negative trust to someone just because of using multiple accounts. But the trust system has been used for giving negative trust to users who use alternative accounts for cheating in bounty/signature campaign, ban evasion or abusing the merit system. That's probably what OP is referring to.

You are free to create whatever accounts you want as long as they publish useful content, but most of the negative trust in those accounts comes from their attempt to scam or spam, for example, you joined a signature campaign that asks you not to participate with more than one account, or a paid review and one review per account is allowed or any condition that requires one person per account and your greed creates more than one account to earn more.

Why do people use Multiple Accounts?

Some use it to hide them identity other to say something that they can’t say using them main account.

People use multiple accounts on online forums for different reasons, and there is no one-size-fits-all explanation. Some use it to maintain anonymity, others to express varying opinions, and some just for the enjoyment of having multiple online identities. The motivations behind this usage can vary greatly from person to person.

Multiple anonymous "usernames" or accounts is actually part of True cryptocurrency principle and should be in the general Crypto space . However, things should be set up in such a way that users/members can't abuse/misuse the anonymity without getting caught. Members should only  generate as many usernames as possible from a verified account. By verified accounts I mean accounts that have had their true identities safely (decentralized privacy-friendly manner) verified, hashed and encrypted.  Unlimited & anonymous usernames can then be generated from the verified accounts. The verified accounts will hold all the records of whatever punishment the anonymous usernames receives and will also be affected by the punishments.
And if an anonymous username is caught doing something really bad and dangerous  you could de-anonymize the account by revealing the verified name.

The lack of this feature is one of the reasons I stick to only one Bitcointalk account for couple of years till now.

This is not something you should think about, lets just say that people use their accounts to scam others, lets not dive any deeper.😉
