Do I understand correctly that twitter tipping only works in the U.S. (due to Strike service limitations)? Has anyone tried it out yet?

EDIT:
After reading Twitter's blog post, I'm even more confused.

Quote from: twitter
In addition to the services currently enabled through Tips, people can now seamlessly tip with Bitcoin using Strike – a payments application built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network that allows people to send and receive Bitcoin. Strike offers instant and free payments globally.

Strike is available to people in El Salvador and the U.S. (excluding Hawaii and New York). People in the eligible markets will have to sign up for a Strike account and add their Strike username to receive Bitcoin tips over the Lightning Network. You can use any Bitcoin Lightning wallet to send tips to someone’s Strike account.

Since when does the term "globally" mean U.S. and El Salvador?  Huh

In a bid to help creators earn payment from their followers for the content they create, Twitter launched a tipping feature using bitcoin. Could the social media platform now become one of the world’s best remitting experiences?
Apparently, I think this is one of the reasons why we've got bitcoin heading towards a bullru  today. No doubt,  there have been a lot of knowing and this is with regards to publicity but, Twitter is a whole lot of media through which, the elites of the society have been known to communicate and having it linked with bitcoin or cryptocurrency is a huge development on the  good  side that could topple the scale. In tomes like ti's when, powerful nations are  trying relentlessly to put bitcoin, crryptos and related activities away, developments like these from a prestigious media is all we need.

No, social media platform is one of the world's influencing platforms but not the world's best remitting. It may look like this nowadays but in the future, they'll have changed. Their tipping strategy is just to encourage people and users to post more and informational posts and then they receive a tip convertible of money. A lot of social platforms have been doing this and this has become one of the money makers in today's life.

i am yet to see this service active on twitter. although many crypto social platform has been rewarding content creators on their platform. this is the time for top tier media platform like facebook, reddit and twitter to embrace and adopt crypto by tipping their users and content generators with little money or crypto. we hope to see facebook join. reddit is already tipping users depending on your karma.

Yet another clickbait title.

"Use twitter, get paid in bitcoin" is just as effective as "use Facebook/reddit/YouTube and hope somebody copies your address on your profile into their wallet and sends you some sats".

Nobody's interested in copying someone's random address on their profile, it's always scrolled through to look at other stuff.

I doubt if this feature will last long and even if they do, that tip wouldn't be large after many accumulation because I don't think twitter was created to share money but it was to generate revenue for the company.
This is just like steemit platform where users get paid for writing articles but it never lasted long and even after writing series of articles, the payment were small.
I think twitter is rolling out this features to spread crypto adoption and awareness for users to know more about lightning network and how efficient it's to use bitcoin as payment medium.

Pulling something like this off is going to be really really hard that I really wouldn't even call it cheating/farming though. If a person manages to get a huge number of real engagement on multiple Twitter accounts, then he/she deserves the tips. Doing it on one Twitter account is going to be really hard enough.
Yeah just wondering how those experienced scammer will benefit from it. I know its gonna be hard buts we all knew a system how strong could still be game by those bastards. Could be really hard but not impossible.

Anyway will see that in the long run.

Ops my bad. I mean in the word "farm" is to earn btc on illegal approach like form of cheating/farming creates multi account to earn from that. Any kind of gaming the system. Sorry maybe not appropriate term to use.

How would they "farm" BTC though? The BTC to be sent has to come from somewhere(it gets sent from your own lightning wallet as per Jack Mallers' video[1]

This is a good bonus to those who are keen on using twitter. I like the idea, cause its boost user to use twitter more. But I do hope this wouldnt be abuse by users like using the tipping as a payment scheme to farm btc.

Twitter is a great place though some are using it to scam other people, hope they could filter some users that tracked to be a scammer.

You won't receive payment in Bitcoin but it is tip from other Twitter users if they feel satisfied with your tweets.

The interesting thing is tip will be done on Lightning and you will receive Bitcoin, in satoshi numbers. It is better than tips with altcoins (Brave, Steem, etc.)

If you receive 1000 satoshis, it is 1000 satoshis forever, not like altcoins that will be dumped too fastly.
It is a innovative idea for sure and with the world so concerned about trends and this time, I don't mean trend like it is on the market or trading charts but, with regards to society and the several hashtags out there. Though, there is some little complications to making a good story in a tweet as, you can only type a pack full of words. Never the less, the tips in bitcoins on tweets will go a long way to ensure bitcoin publicity and many stands to be educated and benefit or even earn there first Satoshi from this innovation which would eventually bring them into the bitcoiners fold.

I don't think this feature is available for everyone in the world but only for selected regions where Strike is available, like United States for start.
For privacy reasons I won't use it if my only option is to use some centralized website, but I think it's a cool way to spread the word about Bitcoin.

BAT is available for tip if you use Brave browser. I don't think you can tip BAT on other browsers.

Ah, true that. Have been using Brave for so long I almost forgot it's automatically embedded.

I don't think the issue is you are a popular figure or not. Everyone has to begin from zero follower but if you can make informative and helpful tweets, you will get followers who will in turn tip you.

As a content creator on Twitter, you must have knowledge, and creative idea for infographics, animations

Sadly I ain't a content creator, rather a GA hunter :p

if you're not a popular figure, nobody ain't gonna tip shit :p
In my opinion, it's more about the content created than if one is a popular figure or not, and what you must understand is that these popular figures only become famous cause of what they have posted over time and thus they deserve to get tipped if possible.
Twitter launched a tipping feature using bitcoin. Could the social media platform now become one of the world’s best remitting experiences?
It's somewhat early to conclude on that, and it would definitely have it's pros and cons, but what's exciting about the news for me is that Bitcoin is being used for this and it is in the news for a positive cause, it is definitely going to be good for the network in one way or another.

As Twitter now enables this bitcoin tipping features.. There will be many financial opportunities on twitter as time goes on.. Its a very great idea by twitter.

I guess that's pretty normal to farm/stacks btc, like who won't like to have more btc anyway? I mean what would be the particular thing they can abuse the tipping system? since it all depends on the user who will tip and whoever they want to tip to, it's their money anyway.

I just remembered you can tip creators with BAT because the icon is present.

Iirc BAT is rather worthless. And Brave browser creator made a number of shitty things that made many people avoid that browser/project.
I think that you simply cannot compare the awareness of Twitter with that rather small project.

Twitter has become a parody of itself. Be it unlogical bans, or absence of them, people tweeting like it's their diary, not understanding the essence of a tweet, or in the case of crypto, everything is shilling. Adding a tipping button will just lead to more low quality posting, generic tweets, and something in the lines of what we have here with shitposting to hunt merits.

It was really a good news when Twitter announced that but there are some conditions that needed to be met. But if I want to transact and just remit money anywhere in the world with any relative or friend of mine. I don't have to use Twitter for it.
I'll just send them bitcoin alone without any third party and that's already enough. So about the experience, it's a yes especially for those people that have a huge number of followers.

This is good news. Lately I see streamings on Youtube in which the viewers tip the content creators. That you can do that on Twitter with Bitcoin is a step closer to normalization and mass adoption. The only thing I hope is that Youtube will also allow Bitcoin tipping in the future.

Yes I think it's more beneficial that what content creators recieves especially on steemit, I think my problem with the tips is that is so favourable to very recognized and established twitter owners and in a general case social media owners, some of those influencers don't even necessarily need the tip, you may see an excitingly interesting post but the reluctancy to tip it abound, I think social media like twitter should have a way to promote an exciting, interesting and knowledgeable post even if the owner of the account isn't too popular.

This is obviously a good and bullish news for crypto. Don't know exactly when the news came out. But the market should react a little bit during this news. Smiley
One side twitter will get there a lot of new users. And also Crypto will be introduced to a lot of new users who did not know what is crypto in past. And I think other social media platform also follow twitter and will do something with crypto. This is really very possible in near future.

The lightning tipping integration is cool, but let's not forget that we could already be sending/receiving bitcoin without this integration. This integration just made it far more convenient, but not necessarily allowed remittances.

And no, afaik Twitter's lightning integration requires KYC as a receiver.
