I use coinbase but before the fork i always transfer to yobit because coinbase always credits it's users really late , they even took the bitcoin cash luckily this time i transferred to yobit otherwise they would take that also but i have no issues with the wallet

Because, as it was already said, there are exchages. You cannot convert dollars to euro in you wallet (the one you have in your pocket). Crypto wallets are made just to store your coins. 
No wallets actually do this... The best they can do is have functionality that allows you to use external services like ShapeShift from within the wallet.
Otherwise, the only way to convert from one coin to another is by using some form of exchange like kraken, changelly, ShapeShift, cryptopia, bittrex, poloniex etc
