have you tried installing a new and fresh ltc client and replacing its wallet.dat with yours?
it should work Smiley

Yeah will do once I get the rig up and running again. lost a days mining trying to change drivers above 13.4 for a 7990 under vista 32.  Failed with 13.5 beta and 13.6 beta then windows device manager "lost" the two 7900 gpus and replace them with one standard vga device!!!

Gave up trying driver installs and was reverting using system restore during which the PC fell over sometime during the restore phase. Vista install is fooked now so portioning the HDD and whacking Win 7 64 on there.

Thanks all. I'm sure this will work out, didn't panic a few weeks ago when a LTC was $3, well paniced now thinking I may have lost nearly $2500!!

IF your backup is not corrupted, you will be fine.

Install Litecoin on your new system and replace the wallet.dat file it generates with the markyminer.dat file (renamed to wallet.dat).

Then run the Litecoin Client/daemon with the "-rescan" option to rebuild the transaction database for the old wallet.

Thanks, I hoped this was the answer but as I have to do hdd scrub and reinstall windows now and setup the litecoin rig again I wanted to be sure. I will hook it up to another PC before and find the normal wallet.dat and save that too just incase.

Cheers

Ok this is driving me nuts with worry!

Having issues with a Litecoin rig so as a precaution I used the "backup wallet" feature in litecoin QT.  "File tab - Backup Wallet" (top left hand corner).

It asked me to name the .dat file and where to save it, so I called it markyminer.dat and saved it to a usb stick.

Now this PC has messed up by crashing during a system restore and is in a mess. However all the effing googling about litecoin a backup wallet always, and I mean always talks about copying the wallet.dat file in appdata/litecoin.

So does this mean this markyminer.dat file I saved that Litecoin QT created is not a backup of my wallet.dat?  Worried now as I have 96 LTC in it!!

Any Litecoin QT experts about because nowhere on google or any litecoin guides is using the inbuilt "backup wallet" feature in Litecoin QT ever mentioned and i'm getting worried now!!

Thanks

M
