Totally agree that there should be more done than changing the algorithm, however please try to also get involved, yes, I did offer to become the maintainer of this coin, but I also happen to have a life and can't dedicate it completely to this coin.
If you really want this coin to go somewhere we have to join efforts, I can't be expected to be doing everything alone!
I have started new threads and some giveaways (for now from my own mined 66, hope menzo will give me some of the premine for giveaways) in hopes of increasing the price!

I think what this coin need is to provide some real services or goods, it should be useable somehow, that is where the value comes from, (eg. in connection with route 66 there is all sorts of goods and services which could be traded with 66) but there was no attempt to even try so far, succes is not coming from exchanges
and if youre gonna change the algorithm I would say change from POW to POS and there will be no need for complicated changes with pools or miners, and the coin should be harder to collect so the price should rise a bit

i think he's got a point. algo changing wont really do much im thinking..
only frustrate the people who have to change there software and wallets (again-no offense)
but would make it scrypt asic resistant.. thats a good thing
this POS thing would be a nice addition? makes it a lil more "hard to get" and interesting. i personally like the idea of these hybrids.(but thats me)
and maybe the coin should be connected to something like smokey said.. like route 66 goodies and collectables or games ..(or something i dunno)
even if u blog tweet fb or something now.. people see the coin but cant do anything with it but trade for btc... so they will go for most profitable easy to mine coin.

gotta make it seem "different and better" as all the other coins somehow.

I think new algorithm is not good, look at the spaincoin for example. They changed algorythm and nothing happened, price is slowly decreasing.
This is my oppinion, maybe 100% mistake!

This coin, as it is 3rd or 4th of same kind needs to be diverse in someway...That would be its exchange uniqueness (mintpal), market influence, whale (maybe your friend), new algo also (but still dont think it will change anything), big community etc. These are points of diverse and needs to be adequately elaborated if you want strong coin.

- Changing to a new algorithm might help with the popularity of the coin as there are many people which are looking for alternate algorithm coins!
- Will positively affect the price, after things settle!
- Will have very little impact on exchanges, block explorers, etc (just a wallet upgrade).
The bad:
- Transitioning from one algorithm to another may not be as easy for pools and miners to make as it will require a wallet upgrade + changes to the mining software!
- It will temporarily affect the hashrate of the network and the difficulty adjustment will be chaotic until things settle!
- There will be chaos for a while and prices might drop until things settle!
