Have you messaged Theymos before creating this thread or are you planning to message him now, some SMF based forum can change their username but here in Bitcointalk only the administrator can do that so it now depends on your explanation, on how risky if its for you if they trace your holdings to your account here.

What are the actions that you've done to detach your account to your address here, it should be something compelling for Theymos to grant your request.
Hopefully he'll grant your request.

Usually people want to change their display names for appearance changes and theymos only change display names. With rare cases when people have privacy reasons, theymos will change usernames.

An example for display name change is Ratimov. If you Search for members, using a key word "Ratimov", forum search will give you Symmetrick that is an indicator that only initial display name was changed.

Like all the answers here Theymos is the only one that can change your username but when it comes to the account number in the url of the account I don't think it's possible because when you sign up that profile ID is assigned to your account throughout your existence here in this forum, like the ID topic of this thread when it's created it cannot change the ID.
Your only choice is a deletion of your account here even if it's an old account if it is something that will harm you then deletion is the only option.

Sure, and especially any government agencies looking to crack your nuts about some new crypto infraction/major crime. They'd have no problems whatsoever linking accounts that might have had their names changed.

And this answer has already been given, but PMing Theymos is the way to go--he told me it's not that big a deal but that he forgets or gets sidetracked sometimes, so if your name change hasn't been granted within roughly a month (I think) to remind him. But getting the number associated with an account changed? I don't see how that'd be possible even if it was something Theymos would go for, which he probably wouldn't.

Yes, you can change your username, but it's not a right or something that serious that you must have to do that, if you're in need of seing your username chan, then try to PM the admin and state the reason why you needed that to be done, then it's now his own discretion to approve or not,as that of account number, I guess you're referring to wallet address, if am right then that should be at your own disposal.

Are you unable to access your account and delete the links?

Maybe it's hard work, but it's still cheaper than donating 50BTC to access the name change...

Or you can send a PM to Theymos, although I find it quite difficult to convince them to make the change for you, as changing names could confuse the rest of the entire forum community who are used to interacting with you.

@OP's problem is that there is personal data in that account that is linked to his current account. Unfortunately, even if this data is deleted from the account, it may have been recorded in another server, so there is no guarantee that the link between the accounts will be broken by 100%, but at least it will reduce The possibility that someone will find your data.

If the reasons are related to privacy, you can request that your account be deleted. The username will become anonymous and the account number will disappear. Then you can create a new account with a new username or reuse the old username (I don’t know if that is possible, but I think)

Without deleting the account, there is no way to change the account number a.k.a user ID

You can have a change if you send 50 BTC to a forum donation address. It is a right for Bitcointalk VIP members.

Move your funds to another address(s), you know I could suggest you to use a mixer to send your funds to several addresses, but I won't recommend any names. 😉

I think I understand why OP is asking for a change of User ID. I did a little experiment to see what would happen if I google search usernames that were previously changed on the forum. And these are the results I got on the first page;

I haven't seen any user ID change on the forum so far but for username change you can send a message to Theymos from the original account. You should also state the reason to Theymos that why you want to have your username changed and if he get convinced then he may change your username.

I'm pretty sure that Theymos also has the power to change a user ID but I'm not sure he'll do that for you or not as I haven't seen him doing that for anyone else. Or even he has done that for someone then I'm not aware of it. But, surely you can send a private message to him and ask for the username change. You won't be disappointed if the reason for changing of username is valid.

when you say "account number" do you mean the profile ID that is shown on the URL when you visit the Profile page? As for the username change, try and contact Theymos, you mentioned that the reason you want to change the username on your old account is because it can be tracked down to you and your holdings today, he might find your reasoning valid enough to change your username.

I think you have a good chance of getting your username changed because it has to do with maintaining your privacy. AFAIK, Theymos grants change of username requests if the user can provide a good reason for the change. However, I don’t think your user id will be changed as well. Changing your current username and deleting old posts will be enough to severe any links to your former identity.

As far as I know, Only the username may be changed if you have a valid reason. You have to personally send the forum administrator a message. I have never seen the admin change anyone's user ID before.

If you really think you have a good reason for changing your username name, then you can pm the forum admin theymos and try convincing him on why you need to change it. As for your account no, I don't really know what that is but I'm guessing you meant to say your user ID . I don't know, as I haven't heard of anyone changing that. It's a unique no assigned to every account upon creation. Or isn't that what you are asking for ?

I don’t understand what you mean by account number, but yeah username can actually be changed but that depends on the reason for the change because only the administrator Theymos has that capability to do that. So maybe you can write to him for name change but it’s not that easy to get it changed
