It seems as though any potential advertisers could have a whole fleet if they wanted. Is there really no bitcoin business that would want to do this?

I am currently in the ideas phase of this idea. Their is still a gaint logisical problems for this idea. ( have to find car wraping companies in each area(s)), have to find bussnies's bitcoin related/ other ventures as well. And than find people willing ot get their cars wraped. Now if i would make the client pay for the car wrap or have the advertiser pay for it im not sure. but after that the company advertising would pay x amount of $ or BTC for miles & time driven (would calculate the best way, rates, etc.). I am really thinking about starting something like this up...

Whenever this BTC car wrapping scheme goes into effect someone PM me Cheesy I get that good mileage and I'd love to get paid some BTC to offset my gas.

I'm pretty sure there are companies who look for various ways to advertise. Although I doubt they will pay in Bitcoin. Grin

Yeah. I actually found a few in my area. I could even advertise for the Toyota dealership my car originally came from. But they'll pay slave wages for that.

Hope I don't seem like a jerk for this but I'd probably be interested in running a similar campaign. I'm from the US and log a minimum of 400 miles per week, sometimes more; all during rush hour traffic too!

I don't think you're a jerk for that. Although it seems as if no one's interested...

Sadly... really the only times I see cars "wrapped" is when it's being driven by the owner of a company or one of the employees. Appears outside offers are pretty rare (I think a lot has to do with the trust factor, since there's no real way to verify that you traveled the way you claimed you did).

yes their is get a gps tracker installed in the car which is about $300. Link that to the owner of the company. and you can see where they drive, how much, how long. make a program that auro reports the data collected. get paid per mile or per hour. or a combo of both :p   That's how i would do it. Of course sign and make up some papers so that the driver is fully aware that they are being tracked and agree to the terms and that the seller also knows about it and agrees not to pull dome sketch stuff.

if tracking the car is bad you can do another method that just tracks the rotation of the wheels and the time driven. kind of like a taxi meter that reports to a computer database/system.

damn i think i might have a new project from the idea of this thread Smiley hmm just have to make the software, find the hardware, find bussiness's to sponsor it, find clients to get their car wrapped. might have to look into this for a website business or something Smiley

I like the way you think! I don't think tracking the mileage itself is enough. For example, 10 miles in rush hour traffic is worth significantly more advertising-wise than 800 miles on an empty road. The GPS would help with that, though, as you could see over time where people were; this would give a much more accurate reading of potential reach.

If you do something like this, be sure to let me know. I'd love to take part!

I have to talk it over in a few meetings with some of my devs and partners first. but you can do the taxi system. Goes by mileage and time to get the data. Taxi systems (at least here in Mexico) work by calculating time and mileage to give the fare. using a combo of that plus a gps system would be very significant i believe

Why does it cost more for big businesses, exactly?

How do you define a big business? Age? Customer base?

I'd rather support smaller, fledgeling businesses than large established businesses. I guess it really doesn't matter though, and I should change that.

And I was going by the EU definition (for small business):

-Less than 50 employees
-Privately owned

Hi everyone.

I've been looking for a smart way to get some bitcoins. Here's my idea:

Recently I've been talking to one of my friends, who owns a small publishing press, about getting exposure for his business. We thought about various mediums, and decided that vehicular advertising might be a smart way to get word of his press out there. Currently I drive a minimum of 125 miles a week just to get to work and back. I'm very active on the weekends (clock at least 50 miles) and even throughout the week, so there's a huge potential for exposure. There's a total of 175-200 miles per week on average, through urban and residential areas.

However, why stop at his business? I haven't started with this advertising, but I'd like to ask the bitcoin community if anyone who owns a business is interested in paying me to advertise their business on my car.

First off, some information about my vehicle (https://i.imgur.com/czZBkL0.jpg):
-2001 Gold Toyota Highlander, no damage or blemishes.
-Currently there are no advertisements on the vehicle (friend's ad is on its way in the mail)
-Currently I have 128,500 miles (as of August 7th), but it was at less than 100k when I got it in 2011.

Some information on where I drive:
-I live in the Manchester NH area. Manchester has a population of 109,830, so it is not too big but it is not small either. It is the 241st largest city in the US.
-I commute from Manchester, through Bedford and Merrimack to Nashua. Nashua is right on the border with Massachussetts.
-I currently live in an apartment complex near the Manchester Airport.
-I go to Boston quite often.

I've looked at some advertising services, and most pay in the $250-$500 range per month. With this in mind, here's how I would set my base price.

Small* bitcoin related business: .5 BTC per month.
Small* business, unrelated to bitcoin: .75 BTC per month.
Large business, related to bitcoin: 1.00 BTC per month.
Large business, unrelated to bitcoin: 1.25 BTC per month.

*Going by the EU definition.

In addition, I will charge more for larger ads. The pricing is based on the individual ad in question. I don't know exactly how much I will charge yet.

I do have some restrictions:
-You must be a legitimate business. I will not accept any business who has evidence of fraud.
-No pornography, tobacco, alcohol, or drugs. I won't put a green camel on my car.  Wink
-I'm willing to advertise for gambling sites, but I need to check the legality within NH. As far as I know it's legal.
-I really don't care if I advertise competitors, but I'm sure others would so unless both parties agree I will not advertise opposing businesses.
-Unless you are going to pay me for at least 6 months, the sticker/ad must be removable after the month is up!

So, how would this work?

Step 1: Interested parties should post in this thread.
-This is the best place to post questions, too.

Step 2: I'll research your company and make sure its legitimate, and also get a notion of its size.
-Any information you can give me is helpful.

Step 3: You must provide the ad to put on my car. I will PM you my address and then you can mail it.
-If you find a really good site to get it off of, let me know.
-I want the link so that I can confirm that the ad is either removable or not.

Step 4: Prior to putting the ad on my car, I want a down payment. 50% for removable ads, 25% for removable.
-This is negotiable with trusted members.

Step 5: After I get the down payment, I'll put the ad on my car and post a picture of it in this thread, so that there's proof that I follow through.

Terms and Conditions:
-You have to pay for at least 1 month. After the month is up, I'll contact you to ask whether or not you want to pay for another month.
-If the ad gets defaced, or I have to remove it for whatever reason, I will refund you completely.
-If I get into an accident that is my fault (I never have) I will refund you.
-If you want more than a month, you can pay me monthly if you are a trusted member.
-If your business becomes revealed as a fraud, or you use shady business practices I reserve the right to remove the ad. No refunds.

Well, there's my idea. I would appreciate feedback, and of course customers.

Thanks in advance!
