This setup will not bring you any profit, unless you have free electricity. Even in this latter scenario, the gains would be very low.

You might want to build a GPU mining rig, but it is only wise to consider such a possibility if you can easily re-sell your equipment, since the mining diff is constantly increasing.

Gone phishing...
Assuming that system has at least one open PCIe slot, you could purchase one powerful graphics card and a suitable PSU.

If you only purchase one card, you're more likely to be able to find a use for it, should a GPU dump come in the future (one that kills prices for used cards). I don't believe such a huge crash is very likely, but some would disagree.

This may or may not be worth it, depending on your power costs. It's up to you to weigh the risks and benefits.

Well considering I am using amd athlom 64 (single core processor ) for mining (4 gpu rig )so you can most likely convert it to a mining rig .
But my advice stay away /sell/ scrap this as you are gonna face a lot of problems and you will have to figure them out your self as no one has this old equipment lying around .
Minimum Budget for mining :
is around 150$ + the Graphics cards and Power supply you are gonna use.

the most expensive is the graphic cards and power supply if you want to build gpu rig because one graphic cards is almost $200 or more if you want to buy high end vga cards. without good vga cards, you can not mining with big hashrate and the algo selection is not much. I think you need big budget to build your own mining rig with vga cards.

That PC would be ideal, if it was to be used in WW1. Your machine is ancient, it's even worth running it to mine the lowest difficulty coin. The electricity cost will be much higher than your earnings, if any. It probably won't even mine, since it's way too outdated.

You will need a new PC, get a medium range motherboard, 1-2 Decent GPUs and a cheap processor. These are the basics, Ram, HDDs and so on don't make any difference.
Reply on here and be more specific on what you want to achieve/pursue. What's your budget and so on.

Hi guys, as in topic I have an old PC with specifications like:
-Intel Core 1,8Ghz
-2GB Ram
-128mb Intel Graphics
-Windows XP
So lately my old PC get broken (someting with feeder(i hope so)). I will have to invest in new deliverables.
I consider acquisition miner or repair my old PC.
And the question is What would be more efficient for mining If at all?
What would be cheaper? How much should I spend for my PC to start mining altcoins? Does buying cheap equipment make sense?
How much at least for miner?
Maybe some advices for altcoin mining?(hardware)

I am a newbie in mining so forgive and thanks for help.
