If I send Bitcoin to that Bitpay address with any other wallet will it still confirm? Is there some sort of intermediary thing that would interfere?
The only known issue for me when paying to merchants via bitpay is the timeout, you have to send bitcoin from your wallet to deposit address they have generated for you within 15 minutes. If not you may have to contact their support to get refund or get it deposited in your account in merchant site.

So, I am trying to buy a gift card off of gyft or a game off of steam. Each of these services want you to use Bitpay to complete the transaction.

If I send Bitcoin to that Bitpay address with any other wallet will it still confirm? Is there some sort of intermediary thing that would interfere?

I don't want to lose the BTC, so I am asking here first. Please comment if you know!

Thanks.
I think any bitcoin wallet are accepted when you are sending payment but you should send it in the exact bitpay address it will reflect after you sent the payment and you can get what you want like in gyft or steam..
Bitpay is already been use by many users for payment methods solution..

Bitpay can be trusted and even if you get your bitcoin deposit stucked for many hours for confirmation you will get your deposit confirmed whenever your transaction will get confirmation but once i had problem with neteller deposit through bitpay. However they solved it within 24 hours so you can send bitcoin to addresses generated by bitpay.

It doesn't matter what service/wallet you use to send the funds as long as you send them before the countdown reach 0:00 .

Bitpay in that case is just used as a payment processor.  I've bought games off Steam before and it's not a problem.  Obviously Steam and Gyft understand that not everyone can pay through one service.
