I mailed something by USPS 1 day express by the cutoff time, it was suppose to arrive the next day in the afternoon. Looking at tracking, it won't arrive until 3 days later, which is not much faster than Priority mail. Now the big kicker: The destination for the package is only 1 hour drive away  Angry. Fukin scam I tell you.

Has this happened to anyone? How should I follow up with this situation?

You should complain. This may not happen. Prepare yourself and go into one of their retail stores or call them. When you're talking with them, keep reminding them that you are 'a very important business man' and insist that they 'keep the promises they gave the board of your NASDAQ-listed company' and that otherwise 'followup orders in the magnitude of a couple million USD won't materialize otherwise'.
Some people had some success with threatening to 'roughen them up a bit'. I don't know about that, though...

They have no incentive to deliver on time if only a few people ever request refunds.

I mailed before 3pm. I don't really care much about the refund, I would much prefer they deliver when they were suppose to, hence I mailed it expressed. If I knew it would have taken 3 days to arrive, I would have drove the package there myself. It's a fukin 1 hour drive that takes them 3 days... wtf.

Mailing after the 4PM cutoff for Express counts as mailing the next day.  Unless there's a weekend involved or a holiday you're still entitled to a refund, but getting a refund from USPS is painful. Their website double charged my credit card once - took me 97 days to get back $5.90 - only because it's USPS did I pursue it out of spite.

I had the same thing happen to me, except my package ended up arriving on time. Just claim a refund if it doesn't and donmt take anything the tracking system says to heart.

Go to any Post Office with a print out of the tracking results (the tracking page should show the delivery commitment *and* the actual delivery) and your receipt, Express Mail label 11, or proof of mailing.

9.5.6 How to Apply for a Refund
The mailer must complete Part I of Form 3533 in duplicate and submit it, along with the original customer copy of Label 11, to any Post Office.

If they give you a hard time, ask to see DMM 9.5: http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/604.htm#1182428

Good luck!
Jason

I've claimed a refund before. It was a hassle and took several days to sort out (and longer to receive the refund). It actually wasn't worth pursuing and I wouldn't do it again. Unfortunately, lost/delayed+redelivered packages are something I deal with from USPS, Fedex, UPS, OnTrac -- all of them.

Did you hand the package to the clerk or drop it in a box? They are going to tell you its X amount of time after it was scanned in, so if you put it in a drop box it might not have been checked for a while. But they are supposed to check drop boxes twice a day at 11am and 3pm. Some Bum Fuck Egypt post offices might not check the boxes as often due to manpower shortages.

Never went to Egypt, it's USPS and I mentioned that package only travels 1 hour away. So what happened was I packaged it at home, paid online and when to a USPS location to HAND it to the clerk. She scanned it right in front of me, confirmed it would arrive next day by 3pm.

when you pay at the counter they will tell you by what day and time it will arrive. if you printed online or dropped in box you might not be eligible for the refund. call the 800 number and ask.

How do I go about claiming the refund? I printed the postage online, then dropped it off at the physical location before the deadline. So do I go to the clerk and bitch about it, or try do it online?
