Just the way government is setup in the States, means most aspects are made for profit of big companies and big pharma has a garbage track record.

The pharma cartels are only interested in making money. They are not interested in reducing the suffering of humans. The best example is their lobbying against marijuana. Weed could be a cheap and more effective painkiller than those dangerous opioid-based painkillers produced by the big pharma. given that the US has probably the most aggressive vaccine schedule in the world, and seemingly the most aggressive corporate self marketing lobbyists.

Is it likely that the vaccine debate is shaped by corporate desires?

The other criticism of this medicare part D, prescription drug benefits, that was passed by the lobbyists, here's the tawdry reality of it.
Former Congressman Billy Townsend, who was a Republican from Louisiana, who steered the bill through the house retired soon after passing this bill and took a 2 million dollar a year job as a lobbyist at PHARMA (which is Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the main industry lobbying group).
