In my opinion they resembles closely to stock shares. If everything would remain the same, the price of bitcoin should be increasing as the bitcoin are decreasing with the issue of each block.
Minor things like what powerful people say about bitcoins and buying and selling of larger amount of bitcoins and especially by popular people too effects the price.
It's a new thing for the world and here we are making history. The path of bitcoin will guide other cryptocurrencies.

hmm so what will it take to jump sky high ?
Services that allows people to make something different from their fiat money. The problem right now is that normal people do not need to use bitcoin, they don't see why they will use bitcoin when they can do exactly the same with their dollars.

It could be,.. but bitcoin is better than the dollar in my opinion. It would be a better currency for the world. People can learn it if it was ever needed to be learned. If the dollar loses its value or if something happens in some country you will see bitcoin shoot up fast

Supply and demand. I am willing to pay $400 for a bitcoin, if sellers supply at that price then the market will adjust (rise or fall) to $400.

It's essentially a gamble. Just like stocks from my understanding.  Your basically buying a share of company which will never split correct which will have a cap at 21. Million shares

Will doge or lite coin ever reach these values?

It would describe it as a high risk investment, not a true gamble   Will doge or lite coin pass bitcoin its safe to say no.  But they will get higher values then they have today at some point.   But BTC will remain the "gold" of the crypto world.

If you want to know the real stats about the bitcoin price you can check: www.coinmarketcap.com or www.bitcoinwisdom.com (first is very good, there are other cryptocurrencies over to bitcoin). If you want to find API, take it in some exchange like BTC-E for example and insert it in your website.

Value depends on many factors: supply/demand, number of available coins and so on.
When selling goods just use current market price.

Well thats basically it... supply and demand. That's all. The rest is mental masturbation. Sure, rigging happens all the time, so do breaking news that can lead to crashes or mega rallies, but its al supply and demand at the end of the day, so OP, preev.com delivers an average price of all the markets, I would call that a real price.

Does anyone have a link to how value is determined for a bitcoin

You mean the bitcoin price? It is determined by market demand and supply, which are affected by many different factors.

Is there anyone out there who live solely on bit Koontz? Meaning they use know whether currency besides but going to? Is this even possible?

No idea what you mean.

If you're going to sell a good or service how do you assign value? Do you convert it to local currency?  Or do you deal only in bit coins?
