supply these farms with electricity produced from renewable electricity sources made by
wind power plants in Lithuania.
The Lithuanian coastal region is ideal for windmills, as the region has the highest wind
strength in the country. According to the meteorological center's indicators, the annual
average wind power - in which the wind turbine wings revolve - is between 6.5 and 7.5 m/s
in the coastal region.
After analyzing the capacity chart of wind power plants (see Table 1) we can see that the
nominal power output of the unit is reached at wind strength from 14 m/s.
3 MW installations should be installed on a 100 m high tower, as the wind strength
increases to an average of 8.5 - 9.5 m/s at this height, which ensures an optimal level of
wind power efficiency for about 35% of its nominal power.
