I have not heard about the theft before, is there some evidence about that? All I read yesterday was the announcement of their new partner pornhub nd afterwards thd price tanked. I wondered what people were expecting, Starbucks or McDonalds...wake up, there are much better choices if you do not need to hide your privacy.
Verge was hacked three days ago. Dev pushed a fix that wasn't a fix, and hacker continued to steal Verge. Dev pushed another fix that hardforked Verge without him realising. Add that to taking $75 million from the community on promise of an announcement that they then cancelled.
Verge is a scam.
This sounds really terrible, but nobody somehow blamed Vitalik for not initiating a hard fork on eth after the parity issue. What made it really bad is that verge is privacy-oriented, but didn't manage to secure the privacy. What also probably lowered their reputation is recent news on the huge partnership with PornHub, but the price is not very much down (20% or so). I wonder whether pornhub isn't having second thought after this hack situation. The team has shown themselves being incapable of managing the project. Verge is a scam.
I read about the partnership with Pornhub was all ears. Not onlybecause the content of that site but the users....+3 billion visitors per month. What these users need to simplify their life, pay with any crypto and make the transaction invisible. Just in case.
if by "top" you mean having a big market cap then here is how it works:
currently the 3rd shitcoin has a $24,651,625,214 market cap, verge in comparison has $1,365,345,968 market cap with only 14,869,810,157 circulating supply so in order to reach rank 3 it either needs to increase its supply which is not going to happen that easily or has to get pumped up to:
$24,651,625,214 / 14,869,810,157 = $1.65
Verge is currently worth $0.091, there is simply no way in hell it can get pumped that much and stay there!

Verge will never be on the top of the list. In fact, this won't be in top 10. Verge is a good project and the community behind it is pushing forward. I don't believe in any rumor (positive or negative), I believe what I see. In all the exchanges you will see a good progress is happening with verge, including total trade amount and price. I support this project, let's see what brings it to me.

You're not hurting my feelings in any way. I'm not asking this because I am in love with Verge, I am asking an open question on everybody's thoughs on Verge. So don't appologise to me for your opinion. I agree with a big part of your statement.
I think XVG is doing great performance in the past several weeks but regarding the ranking of going to be the top 3, I think not this time since there are still other good coins that deserve more than Verge. However, if Verge will continue to expand it's growth then probably it will belong soon to the top 5 altcoins in terms of ranking.

Top 3 does matter for the long term. You will have a more stable investment. I definitly agree that it is a good short term investment right now. It doesn't really matter if FOMO creates the run, as long as you sell on time if the news isn't what they are making it out te be.

What are better projects in your point of view? Verge is among the best privacy coins out thee and some feel it could threaten even Monero. Why would I care if it makes it to the top 3 if I can x50 my investment?

To me, verge is kind of like digibyte. A pump and dump coin at best.
Even with the pump right now it is out of the top 20 coin rankings, and I think it'll be incredibly difficult for it to get into even the top 15. And by that stage it's complete FOMO that is making the pump happen.
No way is it going to go to top 3. Eventually it will return to where it should be at around rank 50, imho.

Frankly, I'm amazed Verge is doing so well. It has almost a billion dollar market cap, even after the recent hack and what John McAfee said earlier that he thought the price was too high.
Nothing is perfect. Verge accomplished a very good progression. I have no doubt they will fix the mess..The community is behind, the devs are working on it and next week they will let us know..

Verge will never be a top-3 coin. NEVER EVER. I don't know about this partnership stuff, I don't really respect projects that try to build hype around their announcements.
