Inside guiminer try to set different kinds of miners like phoenix or cgminers.

Also I believe that the problems is the graphic card and not the software.
Is it overclocked?

If the gpu has an anomaly I suggest you to make some benchmarks like 3DMark and see if it gets bugged or something.

I tried underclocking the card. I'll bench it using 3d mark tonight. Could you tell me how to "set different kinds of miners"?

I don't use Guiminer so it's hard to say. Did you try with another miner like Phoenix?

I also suggest you to post that in the mining support forum instead. Here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=40.0

Hardware:
R7970 lightning 1070/1400 (stock)
Crosshair v formula
coolermaster spg 800w psu
fx-8150
8gb g.skill ddr3 @ 2133 mhz
WD 1 tb green drive

The problem:
every time I open GUIminer and enter my info, I come across a "Verification failed, check hardware!" error message after several seconds.

To attempt to resolve the issue, I have:
Updated my video card drivers (from the windows hardware manager and manually through the catalyst installer)
downloaded and installed AMD APP SDK v2.7 (the most recent version)
benched my video card in Unigine Heaven, Kombustor, and 3DMARK11 (without any apparent artifacts)
checked my pcie power connections (1 8 pin and a 6 pin converted to an 8 pin.
underclocked the card (to 925/1375)
Mined with my cpu (successfully)

My guesses as to what the problem might be:
A compatibility issue with GUIminer
A bad graphics card
A driver problem (vga or mobo)

UPDATE:
I have recently been experiencing some strange bugs. Everything on the screen briefly shifted down before returning to it's original state,  and stuff was randomly selecting and deselecting. A page started randomly scrolling up and down. Is this because of the gpu?

UPDATE 2:
3Dmark11 just straight up crashed on me, giving me a "Workload work failed with error message: Process exited unexpectedly" message. All problems from the previous update were resolved by fixing my mouse drivers (derp). I fixed a molex pin on the mobo, and now I am achieving a higher % of utilization on the gpu. Problem still not solved though...

UPDATE 3:
Added an extra 8 pin PCI-E plug to the VGA, should have 450+ Watts now.

UPDATE 4:
Just got a BSOD citing amd drivers as the source of the error. I think I should RMA my VGA.

Nothing has worked so far, and I am getting ready to give up on bitcoin mining. Can somebody help me?
