It is really very challenging to get merits, whenever I get one I almost jump out of my sit. Well, if you really wanted to gain merit you have to work hard, stop complaining and start posting a quality one something that can contribute to the community.

I think some members here need to learn how to address new members. Especially ones that English is not their first language.

I think the new members need to adjust to our system and language.
Yeah, I agree. Merit system is unfair at it's launch. Nevertheless, since that point, it is fair for all new-users in the forum. They all have to acept new rules, adapt to survive, to grow up, and of course rank up over time. Low-quality users and who don't want to contribute to the forum's community will be eliminated, account farms will be destroyed.
It's simply because they don't have time, and most importantly knowledge to writes constructive, high quality threads.

@mods,why isn't this thread thrashed yet? Almost 85% of the posters in this thread are repeating the same thing over and over again, worded differently.

Sorry, my bad I should have posted more proof than that. I find these user as a spammer seeing from his post history, its just a copy paste of one post and spamming it to any thread he finds. Here's more evidence. https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/sky5678-1733106

same with you, I've not got a merit to seem in my account, but I don't agree with you "very difficult to get merit"
there are still many people who get it easily, maybe me and you not yet luck or post not worth getting merit
I think if moderator or other decides to worthy or not to get a merit fixed that determines you because your started

From my personal experience, it is not that hard to get merits if you are active here. Just be the first to reply to the query of the member asked and you have more chances of getting noticed. Also, do not expect instant results. I get merits for posts that I made a week back.
And the result of your experience, you get 41 merit from others that's amazing I don't belive that, because for me it's not easy. Since there is a merit system I have never gotten any merit once, unfortunately. But at least I have tried to provide information to people who have not understood the world of cryptocurrency, especially in this forum even though I am not getting paid.

Apart of adjusting is asking questions and applying the answers so one can adjust. And obviously the poster is trying to adjust to "our" language or did you not notice what language the OP was written in ?

Don't mind some of the rude comments. I agree it is hard to get merit points. Just do like me and not worry about it. Post as you normally would and if you get some then great and if not, don't sweat about it.

A telegram group for learning how to earn merit?
It's probably more like a group on how to game the merit system.  These bounties and sig campaigns are so lucrative if you live in a dirt-poor country that I'm sure all of this is a huge buzz in Indonesia, the Philippines, and other related countries.  And it should surprise none of us that the shitposters are still following their pattern of writing vapid nonsense.  These people don't have much going for them in the way of brain cells and I don't think most have caught on yet that sphinctering out shitposts isn't going to advance their rank like it used to.  I do see a lot of people upping their game, and that's a good feeling for me.

Yes earning merit is so deficult for us it because they want some post have some quality and its affect to rank if you dont have a merit even if your activity is near to rank and if you dont have merit it is useless.

I still confused about the merit, because I do not know the merit system itself. It is difficult to get the merit. We do  not know whether my posts is acceptable or no. All is on the moderator hands.
I think you should make more quality post and useful for others in this forum, so if anyone thinks your post is good and gives benefit then you will get merit. with the existence of this new regulation we have much to learn to make a more qualified post

Hey buddy
I also have difficulty getting merit, maybe my post is not useful for others, so they do not give merit
But your deeds are really not unwise, begging from others
You must introspect yourself, whether you have made a useful post or not
This is also a lesson for me, my message for you, success can not be obtained in a short time

Listen Pajeet... Your post quality and English is not that hot - If you are here to just make money, you should just go find a real job in life - You can't just magically get merit, sorry.

I know it must be frustrating, but I'm sorry, you must improve post quality, your English... If you are not here to earn money, you don't need to worry about merits. Cheers.
The objective of the merit system is being achieved. The forum is no longer a cheap place to rank up easily.

Several determinant to probability whether you get merit or not. That's depends on some factors of your threads
1. Solving problem or off topic
2. Unique or copy and paste/ plagiarising
3. Creative or traditional approach.
4. As brief and meaningful as possible, no need to write long essay in the forum.

Merit is hard only to the shitposters and not to the posters making themselves sure to become worthy in this forum.
And the fact is it is much harder to work outside to earn than getting merit here by making quality post and earn merit to rank up. Right? So choose to be a good poster and merit will come easily.

Talking about post quality, I do believe this post quoted doesn't qualify as one with quality because of the unnecessary repetitions in the bolded sentences. So, you too have to up your game and stop poking your fingers in other's eyes.

OP, one of the moderators' jobs isn't to ascertain whether your posts deserve a merit or not but they can decide if it's trash to be deleted or not. We the community here on individual level decides that. Anyone who finds your post constructive or that it provides a solution to a question raised can award you a merit. That's simply putting it.

But I don't think you have done anything great to deserve one. Improve your post quality.

What about it? It's same as every other users. Doesn't matter what rank the user is, if he gives you 1 merit, you will receive 1 merit.

Those who determine whether our posts deserve a merit or not

is that a statement? Community does, the other users.

I think you're confused because you haven't bothered to read about it. It's not complex, so if you really have confusion you could start by asking a specific question to help imrove your understanding.

We do  not know whether my posts is acceptable or no.

"We"? How many of there are you using this account?

All is on the moderator hands.

No, it's on the hands of the community of people that read your posts.

It's VERY clear that you're only interested in posting to get merit. For that reason, you should leave this place.

People that get merit don't post here for the merit, they post because they have something to say!

From my opinion, sMerit system is one way to avoid spams and post quality thread here. As a Jr Member for me, I know sMerits are hard to get especally hard to get sMerits from local section in the forum, but I would not beg for sMerits or ask friends for sMerits. Even if someone get sMerits from quality posts much than excepted. It's still better to say this action may be more meaningful than useless posts. The more quality threads you post, The more knowledge about blockchain, crypto currency you learn. So do not complain it any more, you can look at my account, I have only 8 sMerits through useful or quality post. I'm still struggling for sMerits. And I'm pretty sure most of people in the forum are the same as me and higher rank members would give you sMerits if your post is useful for forum. You can post as much as quality as you can, and one day you can get sMerits and you deserve it. Smiley

Whether merit is given is not simply in the moderator's hands. There are a number of merit sources and they have built a reputation on BCT for posting quality and informative posts. These people are active in the forum and will keep an eye out for posts that deserve merit. Not every quality post will get merit but that does not mean that the system is not working, it just means that the bar is not entirely set and there are no objective standards to handing out merit. If someone thinks your post is good they can click that button. I've used all my SMerit, and will continue to actively reward posts I liked or found useful. I'm sure there are a number of people out there (myself included tbh) that feel there have been posts that were constructive and didnt get merit but you just have to keep on contributing useful material.

As long as you are not spamming or copy/pasting, and you are discussing bitcoin, your posts will be acceptable to the community!

Whether or not they get merit is a different story - they need to be higher quality posts.

Unbelievable--OP actually asked me via PM to give him merit.  I gave him negative trust instead and created a thread about it in reputation.   The cojones on this guy.   What are you thinking,  dude?  Asking any DT member for charity merit is not likely to go over well, and you apparently have to learn this the hard way.

Yes, earning merit isn't easy and it's not supposed to be.   It's now going to take a lot more effort to earn money on bitcointalk, and this is as it should be IMO.

Though moderators can't determine if our posts deserve a merit or not one by one, they assigned these thing called "merit source" to do this job. They can pretty much distinguish merit-worthy posts to not. If you are thinking why you don't receive some it's because you're doing this for the money. You just reply and create threads which can be posted on other threads to lessen the spam and you don't interact/discuss thoughts with others. Try to do that more.
