So yesterday, just after the first block was mined, I wanted to transfer my BCH to ViaBTC to be able to trade them.
By reflex, I used a BTC address that was proposed, and realised my mistake only after sending the money. Here is the transaction : https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/transaction/dc5a2cd18cdcf0116648cd1fef5dfff235e1a05a2e216aa3f4eca02e2821380a
I was not worried too much because I realised it would be easy to get them back, support would just need to manually connect (using its private key) to the BTC wallet on a BCH node, and get my coins back. Easy task.
I sent a message to the support, and after 30hours, still no answer neither from their twitter account. Going back on the website, I noticed in disgust that they added a new message on the BTC deposit page "This address is for BTC deposit. Non-BTC deposits are not allowed for redemption."
So I understand that firstly I will never get my coins back, and sencondly, that I'm not the only one that made this mistake.
I know this is my mistake in the first place, but it is really easy for them to verify and redeem the coins to the wallet, they just won't do it because it's our mistake, and free money for them. So I still call it a scam.
Any advice ? Am I really screwed ?
Any similar experiences with ViaBTC ?
I did the same =/

If you have any news, tell me... I'm sending messages every day.

Good luck for us

Sorry to hear.

Apparently some people got answers from ViaBTC on social media, telling them to contact support. But as far as I know, nobody got any answer from support for now.

My coins have been moved though, so that means they are aware of it, and they used them for whatever reason...

I'm kind of losing hope to be honest...

No,

they aren't a scam.

I sold my BCH for BTC, but had to wait 20 confirmations (just in case of 51% attack)

i was able to withdraw my BTC trade after the 25th block on the new BCH Chain.

just be patient.

ViaBTC good to go.

Did you read my post at least ?
I will not get my coins back. Not because they can't get them back, but because they will keep them using the fact that I made a mistake (like many others did).

Is there any exchange yet that can allow a wallet creation? Or rather, address generation for deposit? Right now I tried Bittrex but the wallet is still in maintenance and I don't want to trade in viabtc unless it's my last choice.
