So, every seller needs to run their own server connected to the Internet 24/7? Is that correct?

There will be services which will keep your store online 24/7 for a tiny fee i should assume.  If you want to sell legit things that could be a decent option.  I just hope we can upload CSVs no problem Smiley

One option is to install OpenBazaar (and your OB storefront) on a dirt-cheap, low-power Raspberry Pi using Raspbian server, and let it run 24/7.  But if you need stealth, additional steps would be necessary.

How long it takes to develop that project? It feels like they started to work on it decade ago, but I guess it is better to release fully working and bug less product that something half done.
I did not know that if you are a seller you have to run their client all the time, either locally or in a cloud, pretty inconvenient if you ask me.

I was expecting for some demonstration for months... This is a great step for BTC, and I truly understand the reason why this is little late. Normally best things are those who are slow, well thought out. There's a thousand of lines to write about this. Let me stop here, or it will be veeeeeery annoying.

I'd like to see how the escrow/arbitration system pans out. That's going to be the headache I think.

As ever with BTC it's wonderful for the merchants but the buyers might be a different matter. I guess the discounts could and should be heavy enough to attract some people. I guess it's got to be 10-15% less on the average buy.

Then there's the drug stuff of course which is going to flock to it no matter how much they try to distance themselves from it. I'm looking forward to having a dabble (not the drugs).

Why there is the "Bitcoin accepted here" button ? I mean everyone knows that OpenBazaar will be using Bitcoin so I don't see the point of adding that button unless they are playing to add other payments methods ? (which could screw few things up if you ask me).

I haven't done much research into Open Bazaar, mainly because I've got excited about stuff like the Winklevoss's ETF etc & it never bares fruition so I've ignored things like this because they usually lead to disappointment.

But anyway, how likely is it that OpenBazaar will cause any kind of major adoption or price increase for bitcoin?

Great walkthrough done although everything was on the testnet, still showed how it operates and who easy the interface is. Really excited to use it and sell items there. One thing I liked from the OB team was the fast upgrade they had in which they released some releases (hopefully it will be like this when is open completely). This would certainly be one of the things that pushes BTCitcoin attention, into the sky (finger crossed).

The OB interface has improved noticeably in the last few months, but it is not ready for prime time yet.

The number of users (and the price) for BTC will increase when OB is fully operational.  It will be front page news.

People will sit around the campfire and talk about the old days before Bitcoin and before OpenBazaar.

hee-ho.
sounds like OpenBizzare.  Tongue and it's not a real purchase, just a test transaction using testnet bitcoins as payment. wish he picked moderated purchase.

I do like how people can sell almost anything there though.
