The "Video Tutorial" idea isn't that bad but I can tell that such thing isn't really necessary. Almost everything that a newbie member should know are already all over the forum. Guides, tips, rules etc. What they really have to do is pay some time to search for those threads. But as we all know, most of them(newbies) are not really interested nor will spend some time to search and read those. So it is also possible that even these Video Tutorials will be ignored as well in the future. Plus, not everyone can speak or understand English even though it is an International language, so that means the content of those Videos should be translated in different languages (which is time consuming for sure), unlike reading contents from a thread. Now, for those who are willing to learn and gather more information, I'm pretty sure that "searching" will be the first thing they will do.

Well, its just my opinion anyways, who knows if such videos were about to exist in the future. About grammar, the forum has nothing to do with it.

You can really take it as your own initiative, just as the forum supports certain external api, some are very helpful, as I consult them when I need them. Although these main statistics are available on your profile, but these external consultation websites offer additional information.

Sometimes some users find it difficult to express themselves through words, but it may be that some have the skills to do it visually, in short, it can also happen that spam begins to grow by wanting visits to a video, which ends up being very bad or being off-topic and not a visual support for your comment on the forum.

However, take the visual path, if you manage to make visual quality content, it will not only be for the benefit of the forum, but you will have one more skill in creating content.

Yeah, I was like, am I reading on a hyperlink?? lol
Same here tsk. I click multiple times on it because I thought there is something wrong.
I think it is literally a spoon feeding scenario for newbies that they might just overlook the fundamentals of the forum. Besides the forum isn't that hard to learn.
You nailed it! It was already an act of spoon feeding. No hate for the newbies but for me doing it was too much. @OP ~ This forum is not so different from social media sites, yeah I know this is less attractive but the whole system is simple too IMO. Here's a simple trick that I learned during my newbie days, have the guts to click what makes you curious and observe Cheesy.

Please change you writing color to black first. It was very difficult me to read your post and I believe it will discourage more reputed users to read. You don't need to highlight your full post.
Yeah, I was like, am I reading on a hyperlink?? lol
Regarding video tutorials, why not search on YouTube? Who will not able to understand forum system by reading posts then probably they wouldn't understand from YouTube tutorials which will be made in English. More better search it by your native language and you might get best answer.  Spend more time to read and learn, that's the best way.
The idea was not that bad at all since it got a purpose to teach newbies the system of the forum, it is  time saver actually but I'll appreciate newbies if they are going to spend their time reading through the forum by visiting certain section of their desired topic coverage. I think it is literally a spoon feeding scenario for newbies that they might just overlook the fundamentals of the forum. Besides the forum isn't that hard to learn.

This forum have alot to educate new members and aspirant, more updates and life changing views of ideas and incomes.

If a person is coming to this forum as newbie then most probably he would have come with thought of learning something new, or might have gotten ideas if earning free bitcoin from friend or family or could be alts(lolz).

Most probably they won’t need such videos in these scenarios.

Meanwhile  some new members do have issues/problem in running this forum.e.g Grammars in guide, unable to understand simple way to quote and reply, watchlist, trustlist, preview and all usable options & tools on these forum page.

These features are so handy here that with little efforts and regular use of forum can let you understand all these things.

Grammar isn’t problem of forum, it’s about their language and English understanding.

Hey as others have pointed out I made a video to serve this purpose. It doesn't go into every minute detail of quoting and what not but is a good basis to get started. Iirc it also pointo you to this section which covers BBcode and certain button functions.
Help Tab

Apart from that there are written posts detailing some of the finer points of posting etiquette. Here is one I made [Tips] Posting technique It covers quoting in there as well.

I started and will probably continue more videos to simplify some things. The idea though was not to replace reading and learning from experience. Those are some of the most important and forgotten skills on this forum imo. good luck to you and other newbies on your journey.

Just like what I did with your post here now, definitely you won't say you can't see it bold and clear quoting someone post just look by the right hand side of you screen that's if you are using a smartphone you will see QUOTE now click and it will load up with a comment box all you have to do is scroll down to the end of the write-up and write your reply after this

If user doesn't understand how to reply, then it's impossible to detect that he/she has this issue (and otherwise, sounds illogical Grin ).
Also, it's always good to shake your brain (don't mean concussion of the brain) and find deals. If you want to succeed as bad as you wanna breathe, then you'll be product.

No one teaches dog how to bark so... There are some things that you have to understand. If you can turn on computer, open browser and type words in search engine, then I guess registration and clicking on reply won't be very hard, especially if you know English. On another hand, Chrome has built in Google Translate that you can use to translate website in your language and do what you want.

I think people will soon ask for: How to sleep? How to wake up? How to breathe? How to eat? How to see? And similar tutorials.

Trust me is a good idea but who is to pay for the data or who is to pay for the time one will use in doing all the video editing or the tutorials. When you have this idea you also think of the resources involved in try to make this thing work.

I do not see any reason to change the text color.
Same here--I have a dark mode going in my browser and blue-on-black definitely isn't a great combination.

There was some talk by Theymos a while back of creating a Youtube channel, but nothing ever came of it that I know of.  I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be way more than a tutorial, but had a channel been launched a walkthrough probably would have been a nice feature that a lot of folks would likely view.

OP, nothing is likely to come of your suggestion simply because Theymos doesn't make a lot of changes and doesn't tend to do things like what you're proposing, but it isn't a bad idea.  Maybe someone with a healthy amount of ambition and forum spirit could produce something along the lines of a video tutorial.  Where's Jet Cash when you need him?

I think you could just get it in youtube tutorials since forums in every website and all similar, or just basic HTML. Also if you're going to put videos in this forum that would is going to take a lot of memory or space.

It's easy to learn as long as your actions in the forum you would easily learn it in no time, of course, it's normal to struggle if it's your first time or your just a newbie in this forum there are obviously a lot of things that you need to learn in a forum.

If your really an active member here for sure you would try to learn things here in the forum. Your still a newbie and it's still a long way, just try it before complaining because this is a forum not youtube.

I think having a video guide for something as simple as replying on forums might be a little bit too much, as quick explanations on links that other users have already linked will mostly suffice. If sort of "video-graphic" learning is really the one for you though, probably do a YouTube search on "Forum BBCodes".

Also, pro tip: get a grasp on how these bbcodes work by using the "Preview" option when creating a topic or making a reply.

It seems I see something, what the OP needs, is useful for beginners.

@Steamtyme, it has made it easier for beginners.

I am going to use this thread as a final landing page for all video resources I create regarding the forum. The idea here is to help newbies get started on the right foot starting out in the forum. There are also some things that may be of use to veteran forum members. There are plenty of pitfalls that members fall into and it is my hope that these videos will help you avoid them and become productive members of the forum.

Getting started with a new account - This video covers account creation, finding the rules and understanding stickied threads.

Post formatting - This video covers using the edit button, as well as trimming quotes.

Forum Feedback - An overview of the feedback side of the trust system

I am going to lock this topic as it is only intended as a resource. I will do my best to bump it daily to keep it visible. Here is the thread where I launch new videos for review, as well as take suggestions and critiques.

You are doing same thing by quote his thread. When you are going to reply whole thread (main thread), then quote isn't mandatory. But if you are going to reply a specific line from main post then you may quote a line but not full thread.

Remember the users who visit this forum knows that this is a forum and not a youtube site where you will get videos tutorial for everything. People in this forum are more interested in reading rather than watching the videos. There has been a lot of stuff available here which is easy to understand, but you need to read that.

P.S Please don't change the color of your font. This is not a forum where you will get attention by the decorating fonts.

it is pretty old style forum and more easy to use than anything.
It is old style forum to people who are in internet for years but think about the people who are newbies with internet even. I remember I was very confused to understand smf when I first used smf. It is long ago, my early stage of Internet.
Maybe it will be difficult for anyone to use bitcointalk on mobile devices because this site is not optimized for the smaller screen but when they browse via big screen then it won't be much difficult for anyone in my opinion.

The question is what is the main reason why you came here ? If you just to want to learn you can read different topic you want to learn and ask the thing that you don't understand in this forum.by searching it in  Google you can easily find the topic you want to understand that posted here  before  this will make works easier for you. I also do the same thing when I am newbie I am not always asking but I always look for the answer that posted before so I will not ask the same question that already answered  by other members .

If you be active here, you will learn all these automatically. However, steamtyme has created some videos for newbies. I have not checked them although but I am sure they will be helpful for newbies. I do not see any reason to change the text color. It is one of the worst way of getting attention of readers. I had problem with reading such color.
