Yes, I understand what you mean. But such scams are entirely possible. No way to be aware of it unless you have encountered it. Personally, I believe that rarely anyone wants to check the link in casino's signatures. As an example myself, I usually just click on their signature link without doing any checking. A piece of malware can even get into my computer the moment I click on that signature.

So, clearly, this issue should be noted  Cool

Of course, it is possible for someone to sneak in a malicious link in the signature code but if the 10 members with the malicious links were active. It would be easy to notice them because if they changed the signature links, this means they would not be enrolled in the signature campaign (if they were enrolled,  the campaign manager would obviously disqualify them from the campaign)
What if the campaign is open to participate? There are a lot of people who have been carrying that signature, and only 10 people want to change the internal link. You cannot know who it is unless you check the signatures of each person. Even if those people do not sign up for the campaign, they can still bring signatures, because no one will care if they sign up or not. All the users in this forum care about are their posts and the signature they are carrying. You know what I mean?

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
this might be a stupid question, but out of curiosity, is it possible to view the code on someone else's signature on their profile? the curiosity started after accidentally clicking on someone signature(photo below for reference) and it doesn't show what website am I being directed to.
You can't view the whole code when a user is wearing a signature, however, you can view the site you may be directed into if you hover it with your mouse via desktop or by long pressing the signature on your mobile.

฿itcoin for all, All for ฿itcoin.
If there are 10 members in this forum, bearing the signature of a major casino, but all 10 members use fake link in their signature. How many people will click and how many will use the fake website  Huh I think the damage will be great if this happens  Roll Eyes Is there anything I don't know yet?

If any sharp member saw random accounts being active all of a sudden while wearing signatures of a campaign they are not enrolled in, they would definitely suspect that something is fishy and would investigate further

The forum does not moderate scam and members have to protect themselves from phishing sites (links in signatures ie.). It is too late for them to rely on the community reports and moderation to ban accounts that spread suspicious and hazardous sites around.

6. No linking to phishing or malware, without a warning and a valid reason. [e]

11. No linking to illegal trading sites.

Lafu has one good topic to Report Malware and Suspicious Links here so Mods can take Action !. Such links can be everywhere (posts, signatures, profile pages).

Hey guys, I think I just had a dumb thought, but maybe I need you guys to answer  Grin What if the signature is used for fraud. I'm not talking about fake projects' signatures. I am talking about signature of large casinos, and this is an elaborate scam.

Suppose someone wants to use a big casino's signature and insert a fake link there. You might think the user will detect it if it goes to another website. But what if scammers create a fake website with the same interface and same/similar domain name as the official website? I believe that many people will not check the website address when they click on a user's signature on the forum.

It would've been better if you posted the profile link of the account in question but if you're not getting any information [bottom left corner of the page] while hovering over that part of the signature, then maybe it isn't linked to any website and instead, it's just using a color that resembles having a link.
That is the correct steps @ SFR10. I think that step also work well when we want to know which site is hidden to the Hyperlink from someone's post especially from newbie. To prevent users from being redirected to unwanted site, this step is of course highly recommended.

Was it connecting to a suspicious URL (Don't paste the details just in case it is sus) I'd be surprised if someone really was posting suspect URL's as I'm sure action taken would be swift.
The link lead to the Betnomi site. However if it is a suspicious site, I want recommend that OP disable the url using code like this.

Code:
https://betnomi.com/

Ah, that's the case.

But if op only curious or want to know about the website/URL of the signature I guess inspect element can help.
yeah, I was just curious whether I can see the URL link of the signature without actually clicking it and be directed to the website to know what website I was directed to.
apart from the copy link address that SFR10 suggested, the inspect element helped too. thanks!!

well, the signature brought me to betnomi.com so it is definitely linked to a website.

here's the link to the profile of the signature owner in the photo https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/mikelsmith2020-1111151

Have you tried doing the following actions?
  • Right-click > Copy link address
I just did and it did show me which website it would lead me to after pasting it. thanks!!

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.
I guess inspect element can, using desktop browser. I can't verify if its true since I'm in mobile mode now.

Inspect element show HTML code, not BB code.
