Both egopay.com and virtex.com are now down (and probably gone forever)

If anyone has more info on the crooks behind these two sites, CEO Mantas Gustys and founder Tadas Kasputis, please post here or contact via PM. We are working on getting Latvian law enforcement to pursue the matter since they have so far not contacted any of their users with a proposal to pay us back what they stole.
Thanks to longtime user bitboy11, the heist has already been reported to the FBI.

Any good news from you richana? Have you got back your money?

As usual, it is the innocent people caught up in the game who are being hurt. The depositors and users of Virtex.com, denied access to their money.

It is infuriating that I have the money in this Lithuanian VIRTEX scam, but there’s no way to get to it.

All who trusted Tadas Kasputis, Paulius Meskauskas, Mantas Gustys and Tomas Andzelis deserve a fair solution.

Virtex.com Chart is FAKE,it manipulated by Scammer, name is TADAS KASPUTIS,he also the owner of EGOPAY,
TADAS KASPUTIS has Scam people since 2009,u can read post here back in 2009 http://www.talkgold.com/forum/showthread.php?t=266111&page=12

HE scam ON PURPOSE,Nobody hacked Virtex or Egopay, the owner it self is scammer.

Hello Guys,

All information that was sent here are very correct, I have made exchange for these group hoping they where legit and also helped transfer Tadas Kasputis money and I also have a copy of his passport in my email and am ready to upload it to this forum if talkgold admin will permit it, these guys are pro of scam, They even fraud me too with my investment with them. They are all kids, they close the megalido becuase they where targeting the payment processor which happened to be RegalScam, they also combined to close Altergold, Altergold was not shot down intentional from my investigation, they worked with the admin and was frauding the company, becuase they where working as programmers in Altegold, Poor altegold close down becuase of these fraudstars. I have been following this case for a while, this RegalScam is just less than 6 months old nothing more. Tadas is from LITHUANIA,

All should ask talkgold to let me upload the passport here and their bank statements. Please stay clear of this RegalScam or you will cry. On my next post, I have decided to creat a new email account upload the passport and bank statement there, I will come back if they continue to argue and paste the username ans password so the whole forum can see it.

Thanks.

Hi,

Emily from CoinDesk here.

Do you have any proof Tadas is involved in Virtex? Also, anyone who has further information or who wants to share the problems they have been experiencing with Virtex, please contact me at [email protected].

It is SCAM already, do not deposit there anymore!!! Owner is Tadas Kasputis, same person who own egopay

Correct.  The real owner:
Tadas Kasputis,
Kaunas, Lithuania
skype: dailylentes
http://www.thinkbig.lt/
tel +370 611 877 92
(I can post addresses and personal details if required, but so far let us wait to see if he pays us what we are owed before deciding if we should fully Dox him)

Both EgoPay and Virtex are operated from Kaunas, in Lithunia.

The EgoPay scam is already in the press:
"Bitcoin payment processor EgoPay ceases trading, founders may have stolen millions"
http://siliconangle.com/blog/2015/01/16/bitcoin-payment-processor-egopay-ceases-trading-founders-may-have-stolen-millions/

I am sorry to say that I was a client of both egopay.com and virtex.com and I have not gotten any replies to my withdrawal requests, nor have I been able to get any money out so far.  I will update my posts here if that changes.

He already deleted his facebook and linkedin accounts, because everyone start posting his photos.

The same problem with withdraw! There is no Virtex in all lists of exchanges any more - this is scary!

So, Virtex took your money but didn't credit your account?

In my case, they ignore all my requests to withdraw.  I have money with their site that I can not get out.  I also have bitcoins there, but they have been totally unresponsive to all requests for BTC withdrawals.

In summary, they keep everything hostage: Both fiat money AND bitcoins.

It is almost as if the money is gone and the bitcoins are gone as well.
But the site is still up, and still accepting deposits, and still being advertised on certain websites. Hopefully they can fix their problems and pay all of us. The worst part is that they don't reply to any support emails so we simply don't know what is going on.

Caveat emptor.

I have problems with Virtex (https://virtex.com). I have deposited 100$ 4 days ago and my money are yet in pending. I deposited there from payza. They told the money from Payza comes max in 48 hours but are gone 4 days and nothing. And the big problem is that no one answered to my tickets.

I found Virtex at my Payza account and I thought that this site is safe because of this. But because of they above actions I think that they smell scam and Payza must be responsible that collaborate with such kind of sites.

I found this forum while searching for information on Virtex.com

I am a registered user of Virtex.com but for the past week I have had problems with the site, similar to that which the user above has posted about.

Did any of you get your money out yet?

I deposited quite a bit to Virtex.com, made some trades on the exchange, and finally tried to withdraw.
I have both requested money, and also tried to retrieve Bitcoin.
But so far nothing.

They don't even reply to my emails.

When a company is not able to handle basic customer support, doesn't answer emails, doesn't pay out fiat, and doesn't allow BTC withdrawals either, then users start to get worried...

Dear cryptocurrency enthusiasts,

It has already been four months since our launch. During that time we have been working very hard in order to create a stable, secure and user-friendly trading environment. Our constantly increasing customer base shows that we are going in the right direction. Seeing how we are able to constantly improve our service, we realized that we can do even better, that’s why we have set a very important goal for Virtex. We want to become the most user friendly cryptocurrency exchange in the world! This includes customer service, funding options, informational resources, and anything else that might be needed by a bitcoin trader. We therefore invite YOU to join the Virtex community and become one of our happy and satisfied Virtex clients.

In this post we would like to present the current features of Virtex, and talk a little bit about each one of them.

First of all we would like to introduce our new and updated design:

https://i.imgur.com/ChB2P3h.png

This new design comes with a handy brand new feature: we are now offering an e-mail alert service which will inform you when the price of a selected market reaches your desired point. You do not even have to be a registered user to use this great feature. All you have to do is a) enter your desired price target; b) select the market you are interested in; c) enter the e-mail address you wish to get the notification to.

https://i.imgur.com/j9974g9.png

Recently we have completely re-worked our fee structure (both funding fees and trading fees). To say in short - there has never been a better time to start trading cryptocurrencies. All the current information regarding fees can be found here https://virtex.com/faq/fees

During the time from our launch we have greatly increased our funding options.

https://i.imgur.com/e5oQgud.jpg

Currently Virtex accepts deposits from:
EgoPay
PerfectMoney
OKPay
Payza
AstroPay
Bank Wire / SEPA
Virtex Voucher
Cryptocurrency deposits

Virtex provides withdraws to:
EgoPay
PerfectMoney
OKPay
Payza
Bank Wire
Cryptocurrency address

We have also recently implemented a voucher system. This is a new and very convenient service for users that want to deposit to Virtex, but are unable to deposit money via one of our provided deposit options. You can purchase a voucher code from various exchangers and fund your account just by submitting that code to your Virtex account at: https://virtex.com/account/voucher
You will be able to find a full list of exchangers that offer the Virtex Voucher on our site in the nearest future.

https://i.imgur.com/8Tjpp0v.png

On top of all these new changes we have partnered up with 1bbot, who has added our platform to their automated bitcoin trading program. So if you like to trade bitcoins, but do not have enough time - we have a solution for you.

https://i.imgur.com/e0RP3E0.png

You can find this automated Virtex Bot here:http://1bbot.com/kupit/97-kupit-skachat-1b-bot-pro-dlya-virtexcom.html

These are the main news and changes for now. Be sure to follow our progress as there are a lot of site improvements coming!

Sincerely,
The Virtex Team

Dear crypocurrency enthusiasts,

We have yet another great update that we would like to share with you! For your convenience Virtex has made EgoPay, OKPay and PerfectMoney deposits automatic! So from now on you will not have to wait for manual approval for your funds to be available to use. Nothing has changed with cryptocurrency deposits – they will be automatically credited to your account after 6 network confirmations.

In addition to automatic deposits we have reduced the minimum order value from $10 to 0.01BTC or 1LTC.

Currently we are working on adding BTC/LTC market to Virtex. You will be able to exchange Bitcoins to Litecoins directly! This, and a lot more is coming soon to our platform so be sure to keep an eye out.

Have you had time to take a look at our trading platform? We would appreciate some unbiased feedback - whether good or bad. That way we can work towards a better service.

You're welcome.

Last I heard you guys don't accept Canadian Dollars, so your service isn't of any use to me.

In that case if you ever decide to trade in dollars - be sure to give Virtex a try. We will be waiting for you!

Dear bitboy11,

We are sorry you feel this way. You're right, sorry.

Kind of confusing having two exchanges with the same name...

I don't blame you remember keeping track of this thread as well to see and keep track of what the other virtex was up too and was wondering who would make that mistake eventually Tongue

Turns out this thread was in my 'watchlist' from when I posted in the past complaining about them taking the name of an established exchange and how that would confuse people.

Then it confused me.

It's like ra-ay-ain on your wedding day.

That's classic stuff I know that I have fallen to similar sounding names as well when they came out ^_^
Pretty much just me and you Doog who were watching this thread looking at the whole post history
Although I would say its like expecting a cake and then getting a large cupcake and going >.>

@Virtex oh that was a launch post no wonder Doog got confused by it even more probably thought it was a new layout
Congrats on launching.

I've seen weird 'spikes' in your chart at BitcoinWisdom a couple of times recently.

For example:

I had a sell order at $698.00 when the spike up to $719 happened, but none of it was matched.

Is this a bug in BitcoinWisdom? Or in CaVirtex?

Edit: your website claims the daily and weekly high was $692:

BitcoinWisdom say it's a bug in your API. Please fix it.

Dear members,

We are eager to inform you that the long awaited moment has finally come. www.Virtex.com - the international cryptocurrency exchange is officially open!
It has been a long and exciting road to date, but the real excitement only begins.

Virtex is a cryptocurrency exchange which is owned by Virtex Systems Ltd and is operated from Lithuania, Europe. The company is mainly run by three entrepreneurs. These are: Paulius Meskauskas (CEO), Tomas Andzelis (CMO) and Mantas Gustys (CRO). Besides them there are over 20 people from various fields of expertise involved with this project. Our main aim is to bring a trusted, transparent and liquid exchange which will hopefully set the industry standard one day.

Please note that we are working on adding more gateways in the near future.

If anyone would ever decide to go with such deceitful tactics why would they not choose a globally recognized name, the best name out there? Why not Bitfinex, why not Bitstamp? Why would anyone ever choose a name that has a lot less value than others around it?

Virtex has been running longer and has more trust than either of those two.

Also, bitfinex.com and bitstamp.com were already registered by the companies trading under the corresponding names.

Virtex were trading using the cavirtex.com domain only, so virtex.com was available to register by someone looking to cash in on their good name.

As one of the oldest exchanges pretty much everyone involved in Bitcoin has heard of Virtex.  To claim it is only known to Canadians is just wrong.

I'm sure this was considered when they chose the name, however, a smarter entrepreneur would have recognized a small backlash from the community would have greater effect than any benefits gained from people confusing the name and then signing up thinking it was Cavirtex.

Dear 'medicine' (and whoever else is reading this thread for that matter), I would simply like to say that such accusations could not be any further away from reality than they are right now. Just listen to what you are saying - "benefits gained from people confusing the name and then signing up thinking it was Cavirtex"... I urge you to think about two very simple things:
1) What do you think the total amount of people using their localized service is? 2) What do you think the total amount of people that trade BTC;LTC globally is?

Of course the fact that our name is similar to an existing localized exchange was weighed, but it had nothing, and I cannot stress this enough - NOTHING to do with any illusions that we might benefit from this name by deceiving people in to thinking that it is the same company. This is complete nonsense considering that we aim for a completely different audience. If anyone would ever decide to go with such deceitful tactics why would they not choose a globally recognized name, the best name out there? Why not Bitfinex, why not Bitstamp? Why would anyone ever choose a name that has a lot less value than others around it?

I have said this many times before, and I (naively)hope I will not need to say this again, but the main reason why we chose this name is that we saw it as a name that best incorporates what we are and where we are going. We were as open as possible from the start about this issue - stating that we have nothing to do with Cavirtex; we have mentioned this in several press releases; we have mentioned this in every single social media channel that we control and if we find anyone, anywhere that confuses the name we instantly try to correct them.

Please just drop this nonsense and relax. The name will not be changed. We will not steal a single customer from Cavirtex as we offer people to trade on completely different markets. And please keep in mind that there never was, is or ever will be any intention to steal any customers from anyone by trying to impersonate them.

We aim to build our customer base by providing a transparent, fast and reliable service. And that is exactly what we have been working on so far.

Sincerely, the Virtex team.

I'll be the first end-user to say the names are confusing/too similar.

Strangely enough I was wondering when this would become an official thread on bitcointalk
Did mix the two up myself anyways it does seem like a bad idea to use an established brand name

I totally agree the names are too similar and confusing.  I'm sure this was considered when they chose the name, however, a smarter entrepreneur would have recognized a small backlash from the community would have greater effect than any benefits gained from people confusing the name and then signing up thinking it was Cavirtex.

If this group had been involved (paying attention) to how things work around here they would have chosen a different name.  Maybe add your Country name before "virtex" to distinguish it.  Not sure which country you are from, but something like the Country abbreviation in front of the name?

Is the company willing to consider a name alteration?

I think the best thing for virtex.com to do would be to apologise to Virtex (cavirtex) Go have a think about a new name then come back never speaking of it again.

I'm quite shocked that someone could get this far in a start-up business thinking it would be a good idea to call themselves the same as another company name. Especially one that is also a  Bitcoin exchange.

I know you're going to reply with "it's not the same name" but if you did a poll, I bet the vast majority would think it is.

The Bitcoin community is very protective over its own "members" especially ones that have been around since 2011 ie CaVertex.

Personally I wouldn't want start a company then piss off an entire community (ie your customers) by calling yourself the same as an existing bitcoin exchange cavirtex.com.

BUT
I do think that we need more exchanges and more awareness of Bitcoin in general. We should just play a bit nicer.

Just my opinion. But I'm entitled to it.

Good news. Literally! We have been featured in several online financial news magazines.

(NOTE: Leaprate has made a misteke: we will not allow traders from FATF blacklisted countries, we have contacted them in order for this mistake to be corrected)
http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/sponsored-stories/virtex-cryptocurrency-exchange/2014/04/10

P.S. @cavirtex does the 'Canadas oldest and biggest exchange' really have nothing better to do than spam?

Does /news/sponsored-stories/ mean you paid for the article? And if so wouldn't it be better described as an advertisement?

Virtex has been trading BTC/CAD for years, using the name Virtex. It's just rude to trade on their good name. If the professionalism of your exchange is anything like that of your writing, customers would be well advised to steer clear.

Edit: I only found your site and this thread because I clicked on an ad that said Virtex was launching a new trading platform. I thought it was the real Virtex, who I trust, not some noob using their good name. I imagine such confusion isn't unusual.

Also our cold wallet is going to be stored on a dedicated system that will come online less than once a day for brief random interval to carry out necessary transactions. This way its exposure to possible unauthorized access  is minimized.

All your cash is kept in a bank vault which we keep locked for your safety. We open it to the public less than once a day, minimising exposure.

Please note that Virtex is Virtex and Cavirtex is Cavirtex, 2 ( two ) different companies.

Thank you. And we are sorry once again for this misunderstanding.

I have an excellent solution for the confusion you've caused: Use a different name.

I don't think they have to. Nothing so far indicates that these guys are trying to clone you.  They arent even offering CAD conversions.

If you were so much worried about your branding, you should have bought the virtex domain as part of your business investment.

Thank you very much for your response. You have brought up the exact points that we try to emphasize.

Spoken like a true wolf in sheep's clothing.

Caveat emptor.

When it comes to safety we take it very seriously. With the recent events that shook up the BitCoin world we strive to do everything in our power to protect your funds. That's why we are using SSL (Secure Sockets Layered) technology to ensure that your information is fully encrypted and sent across the Internet securely. Also our cold wallet is going to be stored on a dedicated system that will come online less than once a day for brief random interval to carry out necessary transactions. This way its exposure to possible unauthorized access  is minimized.

Wow..connecting cold wallets to internet...That is a definite crack. It might not hurt you as a start up exchange. But as you grow, you'd be exposing yourself to a real security threat.

the kind of money needed to trade is high but the fees look good. Has anyone used this yet? its kind of interesting.

Caveat emptor.

Canadian Virtual Exchange (https://www.cavirtex.com), also known as VirtEx, is Canada's oldest and largest Bitcoin exchange.

You have to ask yourself, why did this upstart company based in Eastern Europe choose to use this name when setting up a Bitcoin exchange?

I really hope you're not the developer saying that and just the marketing guy.  If that is your idea of security I look forward to your "We got hacked" posting.

First of all I must admit that I'm not one of the developers of this project Smiley We have a dedicated team of 10 very talented developers that work morning to evening to guarantee everything is up to, and beyond market standards. And regarding security there will be a lot of extra means to make sure that everything is safe and protected. The previously given examples are only primary ones.
Everything will be stored on secure dedicated servers that will go through periodic PCI Scans to actively protect it from hackers and other vulnerabilities. Also there will be automatic backups of the system plus the security will be also monitored by a 3rd party company. Of course there will be a lot more technical measures taken as well, but as we have already found out I am not suited too well to discuss those Smiley Hope this helps. Please ask if there is anything else that interests you about our project.
