People prefer bits because they allow for 2 decimal numbers. And two decimals feel natural for a currency.

I would vote for Satoshi but it's not an option on the poll. Beginners (especially those looking at faucets) to Bitcoins are going to know Satoshi, I don't see why people are against using it.
