Every year in March / April, about one and a half thousand madmen gather in Morocco to run 250 kilometers across the Sahara and thus serve charitable purposes. All the participants have an account to where the audience of the event transfers money. Athletes and extremes usually donate to local schools through big charity funds. Two British paratroopers were looking for funds for their colleagues who were injured in battle. Air ambulance pilots made up a team, as they were in need of new helicopters. And now let us turn to the heroes themselves!

A couple of minutes before the start, the AC / DC Highway to hell track is traditionally played just before the start!” says Russian Dmitry Erokhin.

That’s sublimated blends, carbohydrate gel, muesli, powdered baby milk. The organizers still issue 120 salt tablets, a flare gun and a map,” says Swiss Andrea Huser.

You can slip. Temperatures at night are +14, at noon, they can reach up to +60,” says Frenchman Christian Ginter.
https://w12.io/media/content/fcafb2ba5f466dc49ce6.jpegA famous incident occurred in 1994 with Mauro Prosperi. A 39-year-old Italian policeman strayed from the route during a storm and wandered for 9 days, feeding on insects and quenching his thirst with the blood of bats. He survived, and then won over the Sahara in 2012.
These people are heroes! But what about the charitable goals for which the marathon is being started? Alas, sometimes unpleasant stories come to press:
Marathon des Sables runner Joseph Thompson raised over $120,000 in 2009 for a big fund. Six months later, on the instructions of his donors, he came there and asked where this amount was spent. He could not get an answer. It is unknown where the funds ended up, as not a cent was spent on the stated goals. The problem is that giant funds are opaque and blind.
First, they incur huge administrative costs. More than 50% of funds in Charity do not reach the recipient.

In August 2018, she was sentenced to 25 years in prison for stealing $6,969,165 from Arc in Hawaii, a nonprofit that helps children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
On the W12 platform, such scenarios are basically impossible: all flows of funds are fully transparent and trackable!

Learn more about the types of the decision on the links. The tranche to achieve next milestone project receives only if achieved the previous one.
With the help of blockchain and IT-technologies, the W12 team gives a charity a platform where the flow of funds is transparent and accessible for control. The collected donations are deposited in tokens on a smart contract. Transactions are recorded in a public distributed ledger. The contracts and documents are uploaded there. This data cannot be changed retroactively. Any inconsistency will immediately become apparent. Moreover, it will be possible to track where the tokens were spent. That is, the donors will be able to measure the benefits of their investments.
Using this model, philanthropists depend on donors and must report to them. The blockchain’s transparency and the self-fulfillment of the smart contracts guarantee the absence of fraud. All the technical details can be found in our White Paper.
Try your hand, sign up for a marathon here. But don’t forget that raising funds is secure and transparent only with W12. Join our social networks (Medium, Tg, Fb, Tw) and read our articles. There are a lot of interesting ahead.
