There are several platforms where one can buy Ethereum using fiat. And majority of them require KYC verification process. And if you go buy the books there is little chance of you getting swindled.

For example, for the first time, I bought an ethereum on the exmo exchanger. It is not very convenient and I have not used it for a long time.

I may have an answer, but I would really like to hear your input.

Is it possible it's because the airdrop I claimed was one where they make the claimer pay for transaction costs?

Do we really need a walkthrough chatbot for this? No

I think the best way to purchase ETH for newbie now is through local merchants or relatives and friends.

Generally, I"d agree.

However, we want our airdrops platform to eventually cater to people with no understanding of the crypto world whatsoever.

So the chatbot will activate under circumstances that indicate a complete newbie (time on FAQ, questions chosen, scroll depth on home page, etc).

Of course, you can't collect airdrops with an empty wallet.
Since when was this true? Isn't the main point of 'airdrops' is that you give the tokens for free in exchange for some Facebook likes and such?

MEW said that I could not use the wallet until I had deposited some Eth in it. I tried an airdrop and it didn't recognize the MEW.

Is this perhaps a MEW-specific problem?

CoinMetro - the future of exchanges
Any legitimate site like Coinbase will demand ID verification, personally I think Coinbase is really good because the automatic verification + buying with a card.
so one could get their hands on crypto safely in 10 minutes time!

it's probably best to suggest that for begniners, it's safe and easy compared with p2p which surely can be safe and easy but also more confusing with not keeping it in their wallet etc

What should we recommend to absolute beginners when it comes purchasing Eth?

Coinbase seems like the safest choice, but the need for bank numbers or a photo ID could dissuade someone who has never received a token before.

On the other hand, nearly everything out there is a scam.

What method/exchange/company would you suggest to make the ethereum buying process as easy as possible while minimizing the risk of scams?

Shapeshift is one of the supposed best answer here but they already changed their terms.

Looks like the only method that is fit to this will be purchasing it via Localbitcoins or just follow the terms of KYC of exchanges since you have no choice. To minimize the risks of being scammed, then only choose an exchange that already established a good name in crypto industry. Still not an assurance that everything will be safe and smooth but at least you gambled in a reasonable one.

BTC price road to $80k
We're working on a chatbot that provides a walkthrough of how to create a MEW wallet, download Metamask, and other essentials so that anyone can use our airdrops platform.

Of course, you can't collect airdrops with an empty wallet.

Recommending MEW and Metamask seem like no-brainers.

It seems all exchange sites requires KYC verification and AML procedures before you can buy cryptocurrency like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
However, if you still want to buy ETH you can try to check on localbitcoins you are lucky if you find traders in your area where you can buy ethereum without KYC and AML procedures.

I never heard that you need a balance before being able to receive "airdrops". In my experienced, I received airdrops without balance but you can't send it without a balance because you have to pay the transaction fee to transfer your token to other wallet or exchange site.
