I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)
The failure to comprehensively test the population of the world for this virus is not just a failure of politicians. We pay them to fail us and they did so admirably. It highlights the abject powerlessness of all scientists and medics, who have been subservient to the state for far too long now. Until they collectively grow a pair of balls, we won't be trusting them either.

Sorry V8, I call bullshit on this one. The first doctor in China who raised the alert was forced to read a retraction of his statement and later died of the fucking thing. Likewise in the US Aircraft carrier captains (who are probably pretty expensive to train) are fired for speaking up by mealy mouthed "acting directors" who are then fired like toilet paper. And now has it as well.

The people responsible for this are the leaders and citizens of these States who followed the belief that they could have their cake and eat it too. Accept it.

Edit: Oddly enough I respect Johnson a bit more because of this. He truly lived his values and is now dying as a result. Trump by comparison is hiding in the White House behind endless tests for everyone around him. Trump doesn't live his values, he expects others to die for him so he can keep spouting nonsense.

The Trump administration and the GOP would have us get sick and die while they profit off of tax dollars.

Want to know how it works?

1.) Eliminate oversight of the spending of nearly a trillion dollars of tax dollars: https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/490737-stimulus-opens-new-front-in-trumps-oversight-fight

2.) Aquire the authority to command which businesses get which contracts: https://youtu.be/MlQx7Qs2ACI

3.) Have trusted people stand up companies through which the money can be funneled (3 week old company, founded through a loan approved via the Coronavirus Stimulus bill, is now the center of medical supply distribution): https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/27/republican-fundraiser-company-coronavirus-152184 “I don’t want to overstate, but we probably represent the largest global supply chain for Covid-19 supplies right now,” he said. “We are getting ready to fill 100 million-unit mask orders.”

4.) Have the federal government sell, at a reduced price, it’s strategic stockpile to the new companies, run by your buddies: https://twitter.com/DavidBegnaud/status/1245841458323771393

5.) Have the states bid on the supplies, driving up the price: https://youtu.be/2zeEUs7tcpE

6.) Have the federal government spend taxpayer dollars to ship supplies purchased from China to these brand new private companies: https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/03/29/823543513/project-airbridge-to-expedite-arrival-of-needed-supplies-white-house-says?utm_campaign=npr&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_term=nprnews

7.) Eliminate the competition. Attack any company that doesn’t play ball. https://mothership.sg/2020/04/trump-3m-10-million-masks/

Edit 2: electric boogaloo

Congress and the Supreme Court aren’t going to do shit. Neither is Biden or the DNC. We need another Battle of Athens.

Fun fact: the position with the highest constitutional power is your county sheriff. They have the ability to block feds from entering and leaving the county. A few did this back during the whole “extraordinary rendition” thing whenever that was.

I would pen an email, letter and call to your county sheriff citing sources and your concerns of the feds taking your hospitals supplies. I just thought of this replying to you and I will be doing this tomorrow. We need sheriffs and deputies guarding our hospitals from the feds.

Today's bit of levity: Venezuela's navy sends a patrol boat -- "...armed with a 76mm naval gun, a German-built anti-aircraft system that sprays a cloud of tungsten bullets and a pair of deck-mounted machine guns, among other weaponry..." -- to ram and sink a cruise ship, but it is the Venezuelan navy which ends up in the drink. Perhaps Elwar can take some displaced solace in this.

Apologies if this is a repost.

Looks like Venezuela was trying to ransom a ship/crew. Would have been a lot less funny if people had been killed. Here's a story about it that's not behind a paywall...

Sending kids back this soon is insanity. They are the primary infection vector. What we should be doing is sending workers back to work, so we can actually afford to treat patients and develop some way to defend against it. Let kids stay at home where it's safe. Literally think of the children. They are dirty and germy and smelly.

They are also cute, full of energy and most of the time lacking in jadedness... contrasting with some foks.
Hey, my own sister thought her first kid smelled bad when she was pregnant with her second. I explained that this is so she doesn't get the bright idea to eat him.

Lots of stuff has very practical evolutionary reasons. This is just one of them.

Also they really are germy little fucks. Keep them out of school.

My point was slightly different in terms of ascribing some other and seemingly contrasting attributes to kids, and the overall lack of bitterness seems to be quite an important survival of the species attribute.

No doubt that they are likely pretty damned BIG germ vectors, especially if we are merely referring to some germs (such as this particular virus) that might merely get on the kid or the clothes, but might not end up causing the kid to get sick, but instead passing it on to other members of the community.  Kids probably get some degree of rightful blame for the getting sick during holidays phenomena, even though yeah, there likely is some extra indoor mingling of adults during such holiday times and even extra travel too, that seem to contribute to some increasing levels of getting sick during holidays.

Your understanding of evolution seems a bit shaky.
Feel free to propose an alternative hypothesis. I can't fucking wait to see what you come up with.

Many women tend to be kind of finicky, anyhow, and especially when they are pregnant in terms of foods, smells.. and probably just life in general...

So, not sure how much you can extrapolate from their finickiness during such times, and the ingraining of the NOT wanting to eat the baby idea just seems to be a shock-value hypothesis that is pulled out of the air, which some of you nutjobs, here, like to employ largely self-indulging baseless wanna-stir-shit shock value, from time to time.  Tongue

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Response to taste and smell changes during pregnancy. This is probably due to biochemical/hormone dynamics. There might be evolutionary advantages in that (what's good for the mother, what's good for the fetus etc), but the benefits of any anti-cannibalism effect seem dubious at least.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
Hey fellas, I just saw this thread for the first time (I write only in Local and Gambling) and memes aside (although they are quite funny) I saw a lot of great info here in the last few pages I read.

What I was wondering is if this was the right topic for me to occasionally share some TA? I saw a few charts here but not a lot, this is how I do it in Local once or twice per month when I feel that we are at an interesting zone/area.

If you're interested in that I will just post it here in English and share a link in Local, if not - I'll just keep doing it there.

Bottom line - I'd like to toss some TA ideas because I still want to learn a ton of things and approaches and talk to people that follow price action, volume etc. In my Local nobody really does TA except for myself.

TA and price speculation is surely on topic in this thread, and largely it is going to be better to refer to the USD/BTC trading pairs on Bitstamp in order that we are all mostly on the same page in terms of the at-a-quick glance referent.

Of course, sometimes you might want to point out some differences in price actions between exchanges or some BTC/USD price dynamics that are particular to one exchange, and sometimes even some other BTC trading pair might bring up some interesting points or something that might be affecting the overall short-to-medium term BTC price dynamics, but if you are talking about the BTC/USD price generally, Bitstamp is preferred in this thread.

The price rebounded very quickly from the small dump from $7,3xx to $70xx. I sense a ‘buy the dip’ mentality growing. The rebound was quick and fearless. This behaviour could reinforce the next few weeks into a genuine blow off top.

TLTooStupid: can’t afford not to be decently invested in BTC now.

I am into the USD/EUR pair again.

I missed trading that one. Stress-free. Making money whichever direction it goes. Making like $1k with every %4 swing and it does it a lot lately.

Ok, this makes no sense to me. Typically there is a 50/50 chance of a right guess. It is like a roulette. There is absolutely no indication which way it will go. How can you say that you make a profit if you have bought USD and it goes down? Btw, the biggest daily swing I see is 0.5%, which will be annihilated by the difference of buying/selling rates of the banks. If you are talking about the monthly swings, there are indeed two in the last year, but this was unusual. The rest 5-6 swings are under 2%. So you are counting on that these 4% swings will continue? On what grounds? And even if you have a couple more in one year, you will have like 2K-3K profit, if you are extremely lucky.

And then what's the use of getting more USD if it crashes like in 2009 agains the euro? And what's the use of the profit in terms of euro if it crashes against the USD? I don't know, man, it just seems not well thought. You said that you started DCA-ing again and quit TA. I've sent you a merit for that decision. Now you start gambling again with fiat shitcoins which will continue to lose buying strenght because of... wait, what's that noise... brrrrrr. We know why we chose Bitcoin - it is decentralized, a real store of value which will continue to increase because of the limited supply halved in each 4 years, because of the mass adoption, etc. The bigger short-term volatility always turns to huge profits in long-term. But these are the basics which we all should know, right?

Yes the bold part is the best part of this trade. And it is not gambling when you win whatever the outcome is.

I am pretty much %50EUR and %50 USD right now and I can only get fully trapped in either one of these currencies if EUR/USD goes either below 1.00 or goes above 1.20.

So as long as that doesn't happen and keeps going low and high between 1.00 and 1.20 I keep making money because I buy low sell high constantly. Whenever it moves %2 or more. %4 is the total movement. It is %2 + %2. But I actually aim for 2.5%. So total is %5. But %2 is ok too. (Only trading a portion of my total reserves) It is constantly going up and down between this range for years. If it breaks it, it is fine, I'll just get more of that cheapo with my shitty currency.

Makes sense now?

I quit trading bitcoin. I am only DCA'ing it with small money because I can afford to lose that money.

FIAT is crap but that's what you want in the end. It is what people want. It is not going to disappear like most of you here think.

Believe it or not you still calculate something's worth of value with FIAT. Not gold, not bitcoin, not seashells. It is USD and/or EUR. These are the major world reserve currencies and no matter which one you get in the end it is fine. On one side you got USA, god emperor Trump and its major corps like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Nvidia, Intel, CocaCola etc. On the other side, you got EU, I mean Germany  Grin and Queen Merkel and its huge corps like Mercedes, BMW, Siemens etc. As long as we exist, we'll want any product from these companies. And as long as countries like mine exist, there will be infinite amount of interest in these currencies because our currency is well, crap. (It is crap because it is not backed by enough manufacturing power)

USD is basically a stock share of USA, EUR is the same thing for EU (mostly Germany and some France) These currencies get their power from their manufacturing power. They are backed by real companies and work power. What manufacturing power BTC has? Some Chinese making ASICs don't count. Not saying BTC is useless neither but too volatile and unpredictable for me. And it is experimental tech. We are still being ruled by the governments and yes I do believe they can shut that shit down. It won't go to zero but they can make it stay at $100 for a very long time.

Until recently I also was thinking the same for BTC but that %40 drop happened recently scared me. I am back to where I was 3 years ago both mentally and financially when I started DCA'ing BTC . (don't risk more than you could afford to lose) It just made me remember how I used to feel about BTC and I don't really want to forget that feeling again.

I was trading the EUR/USD pair long before I started buying BTC and I made good money there. That's where I went back again. I think I'll keep doing it because it is doo damn easy, risk free and stress free. I quit TA because I don't even need TA to trade that pair. It is just a waiting game.

China's manufacturing power is huge too but they'll either get nuked or some other bad shit will happen to them because USA can't afford that. And I don't really want a world where China is the ruler. Fuck em.

I would have gone in for a free burger which rules out Krishna as well but nobody would ever accuse me of being hairless... I do play a mean tambourine.

Nope. No burgers in Krishnaland. They do give out weird vegan crap though.

Back in the early 1970s I answered an ad in the Bargain Hunter Press (later called Buy and Sell) for a P.A. amp at an incredible price. It was only a little over a block from our house on Gerrard near Jarvis but I didn't realize until I got there that it was the Krishna "Temple".

I double checked the ad to make sure the address was right and knocked on the door. The air was filled with incense, chants and the jingling of little bells. Some dude in saffron robes invited me in and immediately started to try to indoctrinate me.

I explained I was there for the P.A. amp they'd advertised. I realized some poor sucker had relinquished his worldly goods to the "church", including a Bogen 100W PA amplifier. Saffron Robe Dude was now worked up to a fever pitch trying to get my cash and sign me up. Maybe he thought he could get me to relinquish it after I'd paid for it. Get twice the mileage out of the classified ad and maybe sell it to someone else.

I asked for a receipt and when he came back with a receipt book he was also carrying some kind of weird seed-cake wafers which he offered to me as "food". I tasted it to be polite, thanked him, grabbed the P.A. and got the fuck out of there. The P.A. worked great until it was stolen from a bar we played in.

Ain't religion grand?

That's an awesome story.   You lived right in the heart of TO - Eaton's Center, Maple Leaf Gardens, The St. Lawrence Market, Nathan Phillips, Massey Hall, Sam the Record Man...  So many old memories of TO are flooding back.  I'm going to have to take the family there for a few days this summer to look around.  I haven't explored the downtown in ages and I'm sure I wont recognize it.

hmm, so you say because there is this halfening big blocks are good ?

 Shocked

Uh, no. I was saying bcashers who had been waiting up to 5 hours for their transaction to process woulda been pretty pissed if they had to wait for yet another block.

Of course, the whole point of having bigger blocks isn't so you can cram transactions built up over the span of 5.5 hours into a single block, but it is a benefit in the face of bcash's wonky block times.
