Do what I did... search google until you come up with the answer. Learn about the currencies and what makes them tick, how the wallets work and what the public and private keys do, etc. Sorry just being honest here. It takes a level of technological understanding to use bitcoin safely at this point. Safer if you spend a couple of hours learning rather than looking for a quick fix.

Why don't you try Electrum? You do not need to download the database.

And in addition, you only backup 12 words to recover the wallet. It simply allows you to use words.

You sir are a genius, simple but yet effective answer.

Now the question is how do I move my current wallet over to this?

I am attahced my my address and really do not want to change it - we are soul mates now :\  Roll Eyes

isnt there a seriously VERY easy way  - All I want to do is backup my wallet without needed the wallet.dat file. YES I have made a private key I use Multibit, I have downloaded the main BTC wallet 0.8.6 I am still 6 weeks behind.

Anyway Multibit has an option to export and import key PERECT you say yes? well I have xported my key which when I open in notpad has 2 lines like this obviously this is not the key but it looks like this below

So anyway I wanted to tes this funtion I installed latest multibit on another PC and said Import and started to import, the BS thing is it get to a certain % and then just stops for hours. Tried it on 2 other computers.. FKN BS

I want a way where I can simply import my History of BTC without the damm wallet .dat file as you know files can get corrupted I cant rely on a HDD and a wallet dat on a USB these can get corrupted and the USB can get lost..

SO

Scenario 1

Wallet.dat GONE house fire... I have a private Key like the above "bolded + underlined" on a paper in my wallet Smiley Nowwww >>>>>> can I have a HOW to import private keys FOR DUMMIES !! A link but seriously for dummies the Wiki https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_import_private_keys does not make sense to me and there is just WAY to many steps Is it really that complicated??
