PangolinMiner.com is still trying to flog used M3's at $40.ea (incl. PSU) in qty 10, but they only offer DHL shipping for an additional $819.  Shocked  Shipping is more than double the cost of product.  Not such a deal.

Let them sit with the junk.  Their greed should also be rewarded hansomly!  A system built upon greed will make fools of “wise” men

Why sell it to you for scrap in the first place when there is a full section of Computer Hardware here in the forum in which people buy and sell all kind of miners, even very old ones. Beside that in Ebay I was checking now and lowest price I have seen for an Antminer D3 inlcuding Psu was about 98 dollars which is a good price in my opinion. People with almost free electricity can make the most out of it although it was the biggest failure Bitmain ever produced.
i owned both the D3 and B3 and believe me, the D3 doesnt even come close to the B3 in terms of failure, LOL!!

I am pretty sure the Antminer S4 was the worst miner which came out of Bitmain in terms of ROI.

When it was released it was overpriced and by the time it was delivered, BTC took a huge hit in terms of price. While at the same time it wasn't as efficient as the upcoming S5.

With the internal PSU having high failure rates and being difficult to source, many buyers were upset.

It was also probably one of the loudest miners ever produced by Bitmain. It had 4 powerful server fans and also an even louder fan inside the server PSU.

However with the second hand market it was a clear winner. Since with relately cheap electricity you could of made decent gains if you've held thru 2015. The original owners however weren't so lucky.

How much are scrap electronics worth exactly? I am assuming it's worth a little more than a scrap car.

On certain electronics there might be small traces of gold and some copper and those give the most value. However the work required to extract these minuscule amounts is not worth the headache.

I think besides the PSU the fans are the second most valuable item since they are usually the expensive industrial delta type fans for servers.
Yup, the next most valuable items are most likely going to be the fans, as there's pretty high demand for replacement Antminer fans (really just any high RPM 120mm 12038 fan) and other high-RPM fans on sites like eBay, where many of them are selling for ~$11 each, and the control boards for some miner are also somewhat valuable. They're not too heavy or large, so shipping costs for 'em are relatively low, and some of the Antminer boards are selling for near $100 for newer models like the S9 and A3/D3/L3+ to ~$30 for the older S5 and S7 boards.

I still see the Bitmain external PSUs as well as server psus with breakout boards selling for quite a good sum of money (APW3++s, etc), even with Bitmain switching to a different type of power supply that is attached onto their new machines (S15,T15, etc), so adaseb's definitely right about the power supplies still being worth something. GPU miners can also utilize PSUs like the APW3s, so unless mining completely goes under, server-style PSUs will likely still have some worth.

I am pretty sure the scrap price for an old miner isn't much compared to the large amount it will cost to ship the miner to you.

Also most ASICs these days have external PSUs, the last Bitmain product which had an internal PSU was the Antminer S4, the rest all had external PSUs and most likely if somebody sends you an Antminer S5, they won't send you the Server PSU which still has some value.

No one would really give out PSU for free yet it is really separated unless if the seller would be on a rush then it would be a good deal but with these kind
of transactions the shipping cost itself will definitely turn you off.

If this would be done locally on buying out those old unprofitable miners then its your choice.

To the op.  How exactly are you doing this?  Am I supposed to take apart the machines to separate the heat sinks from the junk?  Or you paying tin prices.  Those of you considering this. You will def want to separate the components.  Prepared aluminum is far higher price than tin. Which is what they will give you for a mixed bag of crap.

We aren't at that point yet, sorry.  There are a lot of people with free electricity that are profitable with old miners.  I realize someone is paying for the electricity but it's included in their rent or someone else is paying for it so they don't care.

This may be the best time to jump into mining because people are quitting and the hardware is dirt cheap.

I agree. For the ETH mining, if you use the nVidia 1080Ti and $0.1/kWh mining, it is not profitable. But the hash rate is still there (200Th/s). It means people have much less electricity price.

As far as free electric. That’s not even a thing. Trust me these networks won’t be secured off a few people with “free” power included with rent or whatever scheme they have going. Because like all schemes/scams that are crypto time will weed out the crooks!

They are all running ASICS to your gpu. It’s like taking a horse to race nascar.  Proof they have been running them a long time. Hashrate is dropping at least.  This is the first major hashrate drop since crypto came about.  It’s always been on a steady climb up.  It’s def a sign🤓

It is very easy to find a lot of broken ASICs in the world, especially in China. They cost nothing. But the cost of transportation is very high, much higher than the price of equipment.

Ha ha ha Grin There is still a small profit in mining. My little rig out brings in about $30 a month and the electricity costs about $10. Of course $20 profit per month is very funny. But I do not want to sell tokens at today's prices. I am waiting for a new rise in capitalization.
