some youtubers even don't know the step need to be eligible for these airdrop. Zksync related videos in Youtube are most viewed in last month and twitter big account are also tweeting about Zksync.
I believe airdrop has always been popular, but it is true that the recent Arbitrum airdrop makes people get encouraged to try many new projects hoping they will get the airdrop. It is also understandable that those Youtubers or even Twitter influencers don't know the exact steps since no projects explicitly stated that they will airdrop some tokens to their users. It is a very good marketing strategy, to be honest, stay mysterious, and never explicitly deny any token airdrop so people will try their testnet, etc voluntarily. On top of that, they can simply post a pinned tweet saying there is no ongoing airdrop to prevent scammers without any further action to save time.

The Site mentioned by OP is more dangerous and one can loss big here. I always use my secondary wallet with very low balance for connecting purpose and my fund is saved yet.
Judging from the recent airdrops, users need to spend some money to test the network, so they can't simply use an empty wallet and connect it to some platforms. I believe this is why the scam is also getting prevalent nowadays since people need to use actual tokens to make sure they are eligible when the airdrop happens. Anyway, if anyone is active on social media, I suggest staying away from dead subs/unmoderated forums since I've seen a lot of them popping up there nowadays.

there is a rule that says that if you are asked to send money in order to win other money, you must run away. It is scam.

The only logic I see on that is greed thinking that they can actually get that money, this is very popular long before the internet becomes popular and they ask you on your cellphone, they call or text you about an incoming package but you need to send funds for the custom or shipping fee so they can send you the package, it's a scheme that's been repackaged over and over again, but the basic will always be like you said if they ask you to send money its 100% scam, you don't have to try it to prove that it is.
In one of the studies, it was proven that these operations are still taking place today, in the same old way, by phone. This is much easier and more convincing than emails and other types of messages We have a proverb that says "the trick is to leave the trick".
Scammers have been using this type of scheme since ever, and it's unfortunate that they continue to find new ways to target victims. Sometimes i think that anybody can fall into this scheme whatever how much smart he is.
Unfortunately, the majority of users are not good at dealing with their electronic addresses, and most of them suffice with a single email address that they use everywhere, and often the same password.

Excuse my ignorance as I don't have much experience when it comes to alt coins (ethereum, sidechaines, etc..), this is with no doubt a phishing website, but how can some one hack your wallet and steal your coins by just connecting your wallet to his website?
Doesn't metamask and other wallet apps that support the wallet connect protocol require your manual confirmation before signing and broadcasting transactions? Can those phishing websites bypass this and send transaction without your consent?
He sent the money manually and he knows what he is doing thinking he will receive the airdrop. The desire for quick profit is what drives these victims, and they often do not care to verify everything before they send the money.
In general, there is a rule that says that if you are asked to send money in order to win other money, you must run away. It is scam.

I've seen lots of accounts on twitter and Reddit spamming links to zkSync related scam websites. I saw so much spam related to zkSync that I had assumed it was a scam project but it turns out they are a legitimate Ethereum scaling project. They do not have a token yet so users should beware of anybody offering them an opportunity to join their airdrop.

Thank you OP for this. While the market is too hot and becoming popular again because of the pumps side by side, this is where the scammers gonna take advantage of. I'm expecting that we'll be able to find out and see more of these scam airdrops. Because of the success airdrops from the projects and likes of optimism and the most recent one, arbitrum. They'll never stop and they're starting to see the demand on these type of projects. Be careful because this type of phishing, scam attempt through connecting our metamask and other wallets to their website will suck your funds there automatically.

What Happened: I saw a Twitter Thread where was posted that ZkSync Airdrop Distribution has started and they are offering to enter the scam website link and connect users wallet to Claim Fake ZkSync Airdrop.
It's a Purely scam airdrop claim website and there is no distribution ongoing from legit ZkSync official announcement. So it may cause your wallet of being hacked or your funds stolen. So never trust this types of fake airdrop claim website and never connect your wallet. Always be safe in crypto world and prevent Scammers.
Thank you, OP for this thread.

There are thousands of fake accounts that take the name ZkSync on Twitter, and there are a lot of advertisements for ZkSync phishing sites, because of the large number of fake accounts and scam sites, I cannot accurately count their number, but the other thing is that ZkSync has not launched the airdrop yet, so who was following the account ZkSync official on Twitter, he knows that these scammers are liars and want to trap him and steal his wallet, so everyone should be careful before opening a specific link for any project and before connecting his wallet, because between you and stealing all the coins of your wallet is one click; One wrong signature you are doing.

That is why it is always important to join the official Discord channels and follow its official Twitter on projects that we are interested in. There are too many scammers online that will take advantage of everything for the sake of money. Scammers already victimized probably worth millions of dollars on the Arbitrum airdrop. A friend of my friend lost thousands of ARBs to a phishing site.

ZkSync, Starknet, and Metamask are most likely the next favorite projects that these scammers will copy to scam as many innocent and non-careful people.

Yes official channels will be the best source of information for people seeking legitimate information about those airdrop and its official distribution. To many scam like this exist especially the hype of the said project is spreading like wildfire everywhere so its expected that there are scammers will insert there phising site to bait people to connect their wallet unto their fake platform to hack the wallet of their victims.

There are also fake channels so be sure you are in the right channel, they are imitating legit Crypto channels so they can implement hacking through airdrops, airdrops were not like this but scammers have created or invented these things to make things easier for them to hack your wallet when it comes to connecting your wallet to unverified platforms you should do diligent research and have a second thought, awareness and implementing precautions are the keys.

Yes this kind of Phishing site is increasing and Twitter and other social media are the main source for their promotion. i astonished to see that this kind of account have so many of followers and post has more than 1k like and retweet so newbie can easily be decieved through this link.

some days ago my brother was  trying to stake STG token to qualifying for layer zero airdrop. he search "stargate" in google and unfortunately the first website was sponsored site which was scam site.. my brother opened it. after opening Site automatically created popup for 500$ fee. My brother approved and 500$ gone in second.

Before doing any transaction, connecting wallet with dex or something claiming that they will give you airdrop, first check real website link and it will be much safer if you first connect secondary wallet having zero portfolio.
