I have been using the real exchange Bittrex Global for several years and in my opinion it is one of the most professionally run exchanges on the cryptocurrency market.
In this case, it is clear that scammer from the Telegram channel are trying to use a phishing method to rob wallets with a fake website https://bittreturns.xyz
I think the topic of this thread is a bit offensive to the real Bittrex exchange, because when I first read it, I thought it was about the real one. I think you should reconsider a little change in the topic.

Unfortunately, these types of scams have been, are and will certainly be on the Internet for a very long time, so we must always be vigilant.

How often are court cases seen in situations where the criminal is outside the country you have access to? It is important for everyone to exercise caution, as scams are not only targeted at newcomers but can affect anyone who is not extremely careful.

How do you find this page because it’s very rare to land on this scam website when user is searching for Bittrex since there’s no similarity on Bittrex URL that can mistake this casino for the original one.
I was searching for Bittrex Official Telegram Group to get helps but this scam group arrives and I astonished when I saw that group is look like original and people can easily fall into trap on this. Because Bittrex already shut down it's US platform . So maybe users will try recovery way or believe in those scammers easily.

I do not think that there is anyone who will connect their wallet and believe this Nonsense, most of the links of this phishing Bittrex site are broken, and the HTML pages are stolen from the official platform and not loaded.
Many newbie users can trust this nonsense when they will not find other ways like if they need refund or any transection gets stuck. Though some links of this phishing site are broken but still now they have linked the official social accounts and app and many more. Also they have linked [Start Listing Process] page from the original website so that it looks like authentic.

Good that you brought this to light. Yes newbies easily fall for these scam websites and lose their money.
Unfortunately not many will come here and see this thread.
I suggest you also brought this information in the notice of bittrex so they can take legal action and get this fake website bring down

I would like to believe the same but if there's anything I learned about reading scam posts in communities, that is it's not necessarily about coming up with elaborate schemes but more about finding the right people who will bite (basically why some people still fall for the old AF blatant scams) hence, I'm not so sure.

Yes, most people would probably scroll down or close the tab at the sight of these low effort blatant scams but these scammers probably only need couple of victims to put food on the table.

Hopefully, warning posts such as this would reach more people because education has been and will always be our strongest armor!

True, and because people involving themselves in crypto is growing or cyclical, this scammers are not running out of ideas on how to scam newbies. In fact, they just recycle old scam tricks and then make it their own.

Another thing is that it's easy to just buy a domain and then continue with their scamming.

So we need to understand how to practice security hygiene and learn how to spot this scams from afar.

Good catch by the OP btw.

This reminded me that you always should look at the URL because it's the most common thing that we don't have pay it any attention anymore, I checked the site for anomalies that might give away that it's a fraud but it seems to me that they did their assignment and some minor issues are not that noticeable. This is one of those scams that I'm more livid because it preys on people that already have a problem with their wallets, talk about kicking you when you're already down.

Unfortunately, they are using web3 technology to scam people. They want us to connect our wallet to sign up or log in. I am upset that I won't be able to troll them. Most of the time, when I see phishing websites that pretend to be original website, I go to the login page and write a bunch of random email and passwords and make them be happy for a few minutes until they figure out those emails and password doesn't really exist.

Back in the old days, there was a lot of spam phishing. They were trying to hack Facebook, Gmail, and Yahoo accounts, making phishing websites and asking users to log in to get a bonus. Some of my friends tried to trick me a long ago, saying you can use free Facebook using this URL. Fuck it!

Another thing, if you're the type that doesn't check URL before you start performing tasks on a site then it would be safer for you to install an ad blocker extension that way it will reduce your chance of you ever being directed to a clone website, most times hackers and scammers are so good with SEO that when you click on a certain keyword instead of the original site to popup google will bring out the fake site first as an ad then followed by the original so if you're careless start by enabling an ad blocker and then start practicing checking URLs before you click in them if not you risk being phished.

If ain't mistaken, this exchange has already shut down its US platform, right?
Yes, they've closed their US operations already and that's why some scammers are taking advantage of that.

Nice find, OP!

And this is the reason why first of all when someone sees an .xyz domain, you shouldn't be surprised if it's used for scamming people and copying legitimate businesses. Whether it's an exchange, a crypto casino or any other genuine business, you don't trust them.

While these scammers have it all prepared and includes an app, I think this isn't the first time I've seen it but it's rare to see them very well prepared that even they create an app and upload it on the Google Play store or Apple Store.

They're spending lots of money knowing that they'll victimize a lot of newbies.

I saw this thread yesterday similar to this thread that OP has been a victim of fake Bittrex staff on Twitter asking to connect his wallet to the site which is wrong Bittrex support.

From a fake Twitter account to a fake Telegram account, what else next?
We should always do verifying first before trusting anyone else impersonating legitimate accounts.

Anyway, that's a good head up, thank you for disclosing it here.

Nice catch OP. Given that domain was just updated a day before, it means that you have exposed them even before spreading their scam to any potential victims

It is a phishing link that you may report to Namecheap with all the evidence or contact the support team to contact Namecheap and it will be deleted, the problem is that these sites are created faster than they are closed so it is a long way to prevent it all.
Namecheap is sort of slow in shutting down such sites, but it's worth a try

Why do individuals get tricked by such scams? Bittrex, being a centralized exchange, should not deceive anyone into linking their wallet to their platform. It is crucial for us to remain vigilant and informed about prevailing scam attempts in the crypto space in order to protect ourselves adequately.

What Happened: I just noticed a Scam website of BITTREX Exchange. It's interface is same like the original website. This website asking to connect your wallet through Metamask or WalletConnect. The experts will be able to catch easily by looking at the website link and the WalletConnect option but it can be a confusing trap for the beginners. Because almost 80% contents of this website are similar with official site. Also the App link from scam site is redirecting to the Official app in Play store and the twitter link refer to the official Twitter account. The main purpose of this scam website to hack users wallet or to steal funds. Scammers are promoting this scam website in a fake Bittrex community telegram group where we see 30K+ users though members can be bought easily . They are advising to use this Phising website if any transection gets stuck or pending or hacked account. So it's a very very risky for everyone specially new users.

This is what made me laugh; frankly, they claim that this phishing site is a beta version of the Bittrex exchange which is in the process of being tested before the official release; these scammers with low IQ do not know that there is an exchange with an official release now and it is already bankrupt. I do not think that there is anyone who will connect their wallet and believe this Nonsense, most of the links of this phishing Bittrex site are broken, and the HTML pages are stolen from the official platform and not loaded.

Anyway, thank you, OP, for this topic, and I hope that every newbie will have good foresight and not connect their wallet to such phishing sites even if they are similar to well-known exchanges.

Thank you Op for spotting the site on time.

From what I see on whois.com/whois my guess is that they haven't been able to scam alot of people and with this awareness I guess those that frequent the scam accusation board will be safe from this scam

Just a quick reminder: Never connect your wallet to an unknown service and even if you know the service and it's reputable make sure you create a separate wallet address just for that purpose, it's better safe than sorry and this applies to those that participates in airdrops and simple bounties.

Good catch on this impersonator website although the URL they use is very obvious that it’s not Bittrex. How do you find this page because it’s very rare to land on this scam website when user is searching for Bittrex since there’s no similarity on Bittrex URL that can mistake this casino for the original one.

Bittrex already file Bankcruptcy last May so there’s already few demand for this exchange even with the original exchange since most of the users is already leaving this service due to the upcoming closure.
