The binance has a giveaway to their users and for sure there are a lot of traders with the specific time frame who will download the trust wallet due to withdrawing their free tokens and one rule is to download the trust well.

I don't use this wallet instead the binance has a link on their website directly to your google play store and I used this before starting download I try to check this thread and it gives me the real trust wallet.

Mostly when I try to check a wallet the Google play gives me the original or the trusted app still I verify it.
This is the reason why some of the people would like to use iOS because they have more priority on the security of their users and the apple store does have a lot of restrictions before you upload an application.

This is so serious. Firstly, we need to know the fact that Google is the home to scam apps while the government that suppose to make google safe for users are not doing anything but looking what google are doing by not having effective measures to finally free their app store fake apps. Secondly, some people do comment about open source codes wallets, that such wallets can easily be mimicked and have fake ones, but why trust wallet which is close sources like this too in a way there are many fake trust wallets.

That's why when I'm about to download official apps, I first go to their official website and look for the link to get me to the app page instead of searching it in the play store because we wouldn't know the result shown are official apps or not. sometimes there is typo in our search which cause to show different results and sometimes those fake apps will be shown and if we are not paying attention we could have downloaded it and blindly deposit some funds. that kind of mistakes should be avoided by doing the necessary things.
that is so true, i do the same thing by going to the official website and get the app link from it, but to be honest, sometimes i don't wanna do all that so i just open up the store and type in the name of the app, i could have fallen for something similar to this.

Such a method will indeed be very helpful to avoid downloading phishing applications like this. Official Website is the safest way to download it. But before that it's better to join the trustwallet telegram group to find out which site links are really valid. In the group there will be many users and admins who will help.
Many also get stuck on phishing websites that are very similar to the original. Keeping safe and always being careful should always be done.

I felt bad for those people who got scammed by these fake wallets. But anyway, that should be a lesson that you gotta check all the details first before engaging in any crypto activities because it involves money, and that is what scammers wanted. If you think the google play store is safe, NO. If you are not a hundred percent sure, you could have just try to visit their main website, and that way they will provide a link to their legitimate app. And if you are having a doubt if the website might be a fraud as well, then you can ask here in this forum because everyone is ready to help out. Just make basic research and you'll be fine, just like the developers of the software.

Two fake Trust wallet app in the month of December. I am sure this is because Binance is running a Christmas offer on Trust Wallet. It is more of like a task for which you will be receiving some TWT. This is what I found out

Quote
Trust Wallet Bonanza

Duration: December 17, 09:00 am to December 22, 11:59 pm UTC

To participate: View the activity announcement tweet, click on the link leading to Gleam.io, and complete as many tasks as you can. The more tasks you complete, the higher your chance to win.

63 lucky winners will receive a share of 100,000 Trust Wallet Tokens (TWT)

1x 20,000 TWT

1x 15,000 TWT

1x 5,000 TWT

60x 1,000 TWT

I think because of this offer many users will download Trust Wallet and they will participate in it and these scammers want to cash on the rush and therefore they are creating such fake apps.

Have you reported all of these fake wallets on google playstore?  I've done reported and I hope they will take action and with their terrible service which doesn't care if their ads contain scam or fraud advertisements as long as they will earn money, how sad.

I have noticed that there are too many threads reported scams and fake wallets as of now, probably because Bitcoin reached the new ATH which is scammers will always find ways to scam money from others.  We should be careful about installing apps from google playstore or even direct searching on the engine box.  We should not trust Google ads.

By the way, thanks for sharing and I hope everyone will do the same reporting them.

Seeing stuffs like this scares me, because I'm not very familiar with this forum yet, talk more of been tricked, duped or scammed. Thanks for this information. It's indeed an eye opener. Please newbies watch out. Don't let anyone fool you.

Then I would suggest that you familiarise and educate yourself. Don't download or trust anything you see specially thru Google services, i.e. Google Ads, in their play store and app store. And if you have serious doubts any the legitimacy of any softwares then you can ask from this community and I'm sure more experienced members will be happy to help you out.

You can actually avoid those scam wallet or any applications even you are not lurking much here in the forum by:

- only referring to official download links at the main website
- engaging in the site's official social community group
- asking questions first

Even with how good Playstore security is (or will be improved in the future), there is no way we can't really avoid encountering these scam apps as fraudsters and scammers will not stop doing that shitty act.

It's doesn't have to scare you cause it can be avoided easily, just don't download wallets, exchange apps or anything that is connected to your crypto from Google playstore, if you want to download things as such you do it only via the official website. Don't let heads up such as this discourage you into thinking the network is all about scams and the rest, of course Google playstore is filled with scam apps and what do you expect when Google hardly filters, just search most apps and most times you're shown the one created by scammers, I'd prefer people report straight to Google than create threads for it since it's so rampant on playstore, but that's a discussion for another day. Mind you that you could be scammed, but that's only if you do not take the responsibility of protecting yourself and by extension your funds.
