For those who torrent files, an instance of the "Cozybear" malware was found in a download.

This is a reminder to the community to keep their torrenting separate from where they store their online wallets.

This is so much helpful information, I've download torrent in sometimes, but usually i download torrent file in a separate device with the one that i used to store all my cryptocurrency wallet. I think it will be safe from the possibilities of that torrent malware.

The internet keeps getting more risky by the day, this is the reason I avoid visiting certain websites or using certain apps because you never can tell who is trying to steal from you.

the internet seems to become very frightening to me now, Imagine that you did bounties the whole year in able to get some crypto because you can't afford to buy then ended uphaving your earnings been stolen because of this kind of hackers gimmicks. Everyone should be really aware of this.
This will not happen if you always check the sources of your software. In most cases, people lose all that they have because of inattention.

Thanks for the heads up. Thank goodness, when downloading movies and TV series I don't use torrent anymore. I'm aware that some torrent files could be infected with viruses and disguise as malware. Some malware could steal information like passwords and private keys and the next thing you know your digital assets are gone in your wallet.

Unfortunately, the use of torrent always has similar hazards. Every computer that has Cryptocurrencies traded needs to be protected from such activities. A good antivirus project maybe makes ICO and it works.

Is there some relationship about the torrent sites or files to the cryptocurrency? particularly their respective wallets? I think torrent is kinda different from cryptos.

To download unfamiliar torrent files, I scan them for security, and then the decision to download is made. Be careful about these things.

I think that those wishing to use such methods will become more and more common with time, and the more popular the cryptocurrency is, the more popular the more often we will hear about it. You must always be careful, and even better for a torrent to have a separate laptop that is not used for work, then you can get around this point.

This is why I check files on the torrent download folder before I proceed the download. I wait for the folders to show-up and then it should be all I need. I pause the download for files that I'm not familiar with. Especially crack folders.

Downloading exe files from a torrent site is very risky, even if it's an expensive product like adobe or a game it shouldn't be done. Not all anti-virus applications are able to stop them so you shouldn't rely on them to protect your coins.
Which commonly being use by hackers and perpetrators,we really need to be more extra careful doing our activities online, since this topic has been tackle and potential threat are already there, downloading now with torrent site should be sort carefully, the value of our assets is in stake we have to protect our hard earned money, need to seriously take this and do every precautions that we can to keep our money safe.

It also depends what you download, IMO music files and movie files are
fine. Its the program files which contain many other files which are loaded
when the program is executed  that are very risky.

I won't and never download torrent in my own computer from unknown torrent source link, especially the title mention is free/crack/giveaway, just do it in vmware to protect your computer security if you're crypto investor, remember the easy way to steal people sensitive information is keylogger virus and I recommend install popular antivirus software.

I don't download torrent files.

But make sure that whatever you download see to it that it came from reliable source. There are people that puts malware to these downloadable files so they can have a look to your files and can have an entry to your computer.

Yes, I read this news couple of days ago and I'm not surprised though, this crypto currency thingy has been out of proportions and there are people who take advantage of it to steal someone's coin in any method they can think of.

Another moral lesson here: Don't download anything just for the sake of getting it free. You just don't know how much damage it can inflict to you in the future.

at least the virustotal would not define the threat as virus or keylogger.
contact for FUD keylogger to put with graphical picture with the GUI for service similar to GUI wallet
log sent to FTP hosting page.

That's indeed but this to make sure the possibility to get infected by the malware. it's better rather than put ourselves into the risk by download a file through use a downloader that contains the malware.
But i guess most of the downloaders contain the malware.

Thank you for the warning. I agree with you. The investor and also the holders of the tokens especially to those who have a high value already must separate their device to a more private and secure device to ensure no possible loss of tokens from hacking attempt.
