They didn't even bother using a AI generated images to make it harder for them to get caught which is pretty much not what a scammer should be doing. Also good catch OP, I think that you pricked up their ears really good.

I have reviewed this project in detail too.
No, you didn't [you're just part of it].

It is normal for image usage via the website or social media.
Since when?

One question to yourself, why don’t put your real photo on Bitcointalk forum profile ?  or you are easy to scam somebody in the forum?
First, you mentioned Satoshi and now us? Stop shifting the focus to someone else; We're using the forum like a "normal" user, but you and your so-called team [if there's any] on the other hand, are trying to sell a shitcoin to the community.

Before accusing anyone or any project is a scam, please kindly to check in detail.
Looks like you're the one that hasn't done an in-depth review on widecoin... Oops, I forgot you were with them Roll Eyes

It is impacted to real project reputation and of Bitcointalk forum reputation.
It was never a "real" project and I highly doubt it'll ever be one.

and exit the Bitcointalk account by switching to another forums
Perhaps it's the right time [for you] to follow them Smiley

You should apologize and correct inappropriate actions to the real project.
He shouldn't apologize for doing the right thing.

I am not in favor of any side to own selfish benefit but it is based on real proof of detail review.
Yeah, right! Roll Eyes

Refer to the two (2) ANNs they moved to their local-boards after confronting against their project:

I think you are missing a very clear point.

The problem lies with your project putting fake photos to begin with. The question is, why did you bother to put a fake picture of your team members in the first place? This problem wouldn't have started in the first place if you just omitted the picture and continued with your project.

Again, by putting a stock photo as the picture of several of your team members, the element of deceit is present. You are causing it to appear that the identity of such person is the one posted as the stock photo. You are lying and deceiving future investors of your project by that lone and simple act.

There are a lot of real members of the Bitcointalk forum who are claiming the Bitcointalk forum is a scam and exit the Bitcointalk account by switching to another forums instead due to your wrong evaluation and super high knowledge in project analysis.
You should apologize and correct inappropriate actions to the real project.

Oh dear I have seen this a thousand times already.

Stop putting the blame on me and put the blame on the people and developers (I am assuming you are one of those) that create scam projects. If you would check the posts under this thread, hundreds to thousands of projects have already been exposed and proven to be scam.

What happened: Fake team using stock photo

Profile Link: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/widecoin-3248411
Widecoin ANN: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--5331582
Widecoin WEBSITE: https://widecoin.org/
Widecoin ARCHIVED ANN: https://archive.fo/nTerU

READ: IMPORTANT: After asking on their thread about the fake team members posted on their website, widecoin suddenly moved the topic to their local boards (off-topic) without even explaining their actions behind it. They opened another ANN in which I messaged them about my claim but they again, moved the newly opened ANN to their local board (off-topic) with a threat of even reporting me to the moderator. They even claimed that my report is 'useless' arguing that even Satoshi never posted his identity on the internet. They seem to misunderstand that the difference between them and Satoshi is that, Satoshi never posted fake photos of himself while them, they posted stock photos in which the element of deceit is present.

I believe this kind of attitude implies that they are trying to conceal the shadiness of their project which warrants an accusation against them. Please refer to the screenshots below.

Need PR/CMC & CG? TG @The_Cryptovator
What to fix? Fake team or plagiarism? Why not accuse them? Although they aren't raising funds via ICO. But they will raise funds more secure way from the exchange listing. I am wondering why it was necessary to use fake teams and use plagiarism content since they effort to create a coin instead of deploying a token. No matter if there is no team. Investors or traders will know the team is hidden. How they will fix it? Do you think by mistake they used stock image? I think they used it intentionally, so it's not a mistake and there is no chance to correct it. Show me a legit reason why are you support them to fix the well-known error?

They even claimed that my report is 'useless' arguing that even Satoshi never posted his identity on the internet. Satoshi also didn't mine 3.5 mil bitcoins for himself in the second block
http://explorer.widecoin.org:5000/block-height/1
I wonder why they did that at all, after all, they are the only ones mining ad have already mined two hundred million of it.

Their best excuse is that at least there was no ICO, but that doesn't change random photos and plagiarism.

Why don't we wait for them (widecoin team) to fix their mistake (in this case is website), instead accusing them of being bad.
I support widecoin to fix this trouble.

You should know better how this will end.
I've checked a few of the projects you've done translations for

willtoken.io dead
gixelycoin.io dead
parlaychain.io dead
cyronium.com dead
codemail.tech dead
bolttcoin.io dead

You realize you're pretty much a bulletproof indicator in what not to invest, right?

Anyway nice catch OP, are there any service that can be used to identify if a picture is a stock photo?

This is the main engine that I use in order to see if the pictures posted are either real or stock: https://www.reverse-image-search.org/

Just take a screenshot of the photos used and three (3) search engines on that website will look for all similar images that you searched. Generally, you would see if the photos used were stock photos using that website. You can also put pictures from linkedin accounts so you could check if the identities matched to the linkedin profiles as there are some projects who post real photos with fake names/identities.

They can still explain themselves but I thinking that flagging them is a good thing because it helps with preventing people from going to them which they may risk getting scammed. If they can fix this and putting a fake team is going to need a lot of explanation then they can probably lift the flag. Call your grandparents and tell them you love them
Generally, I give people the opportunity to defend themselves before I post any accusation but the attitude of widecoin showed their intention to deceit and to conceal their shady acts, which ultimately compelled me to create this accusation.
Which is right, we dont want this to become a kangaroo court.

Satoshi kept their identity concealed but they did not sell a shitcoin to the public in exchange of their money. That is the biggest difference between these scams trying to use Satoshi's words as their ideal only as a coverup for their scam. We have seen this on previous scams as well, nothing new. Many DeFi projects recently ran token sales where they counter questioned people who asked about their identity with this statement.

Flag supported and dont forget that their threats are only words. None of the threads here are warranting removal by mods, if they wish to report it, let them do it, we have been here long enough to know these rules better than them.

I support widecoin to fix this trouble.

Before I posted this scam accusation against the project, I posted on their ANN page about the anomalies spotted on their website. Instead of actually fixing the problem, widecoin moved the topic to their local boards twice and even threatened about reporting me to the moderators.

Supported your flag and will tag that account as well.

Read the middle part of qwertyup23's above post again; Clearly, they have no intention of fixing something but instead, they chose to run away from the truth...
- With that kind of attitude, I think we could all agree that they shouldn't be trusted at all.

In addition to your findings, I checked some of their content for plagiarism and got the following results:
- Credit to whoever "archived their website" two days ago.

  • Homepage [without team section] + FAQ page returned with roughly 54% [76% - 22%]: Screenshot
    - The former literally used different sources for each sentence.
  • Team section returned with roughly 13% [80% - 67%]: Screenshot
    - It didn't take them that long to get rid of that section completely [thanks to you] Cheesy

Thank you for the additional findings!

They really got me into my nerves especially when widecoin PMed me threatening to report my posts to the moderators. Their habit of creating new ANNs and moving them to their local boards after you bring up the accusation makes such action sketchy and questionable. Along with your findings, this strengthen the case against their project being fake/scam.

I will open a flag against widecoin and I hope others will support it!
