the main attack was a man-in-the-middle attack and the forum was perhaps ddos'ed later to hide this . I guess the hacker did this to obtain user's data and this forum isn't like mtgox and exchangers and I don't think it will cause a price crash if it was ddos'ed

Nah, More of a man-in-the-middle attack,I guess the shutdown was intentional to avoid further hacks/loss of info until the intruder is removed from the system and everything is cleaned.
How about this: The attacker intentionally DDoS BTCtalk to cover up the fact that he is doing Man-In-The-Middle attack so most people wont realize. global moderator
