this is why its necessary for every one to join one of these forums especially if you are a newbie as these forums provide useful information and safety reminders for us , also what to look out for as normally these scammers use the same tricks over and over again and occasionally someone gets caught in the web. Always make it a priority to check that the web address is the correct one .

I am very glad that I watch for forum posts quite often and did not fall in victim.

Scammers make each and every site a copy and try to scam out of it. I've encountered the same issue with coinbase, but luckily I didn't got scammed. An email confirming certain amount got transferred to your account reached my email. But I haven't made any transaction, and if I have tried to login and see who has made it, I might have used my personal key. This provides them the ease of accessing my wallet.

Firefox actually lists them as deceptive sites and don't let you visit them.

There is a ton of phishing sites out there, especially on google ads. It's not only a problem with exchanges, it's also a problem with mixers and basically all of the other crypto related services out there. As a rule of thumb, never click on any google ads when you search up a crypto related service. These two sites are definitely phishing sites out there to take your account credentials.

Bookmarking a frequently used site can indeed help with avoiding having to search up the site's URL on google.

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

i trade with less popular exchanges sites because fewer people means fewer issues.

That's horrible logic. If a site isn't all that popular, it very likely indicates that people avoid it for a reason, and that alone is something I already consider to be a negative aspect. On top of that, less usage means less income, and less income means the operator of the site will very likely not spend much of his time and money on further improving security where possible. The only beneficial aspect of less crowded exchanges is that when you have encountered an issue, you will have it settled in a timely manner. Obviously, assuming that the lack of income isn't demotivating the operator to either solve matters himself, or hire staff to do it. Income is important in more ways than one....

This is why no matter how secure your wallet, private keys or trading accounts is. Social engineering or human exploitation can be the biggest security flaw in any system. Luckily i dont trade in cryptopia, i trade with less popular exchanges sites because fewer people means fewer issues.

You know if you use google search, you can use an adblocker extension,it'll help you avoid all the unnecessary ads.
I use uBlock for example. You can download it here.
Or you can just directly type the entire URL of the particular website you want to use directly in the address bar,its not that hard you know.

Thanks for the heads up!

If you are fan on using up google search then you are really prone into these kind of situations which you will really able to face up phishing of popular sites specially on exchangers or any other sites that will possibly able to make money for those scammers. This is why when we are active on engaging or using up exchangers or any site always bookmark the right url so that into your next log in you will really be safe out of those phishings.

I was about login in my cryptopia account today, so I decided to pass through Google,  behold, here is what I get www.cryptopia.uno $ https://www.crryptopia-login.net ! don't every try to input your email and password on this websites, the moment you try this, automatically you have given them your cryptopia login details! they will use your details to login into account and steal all your funds.

fake/scam cryptopia website: www.cryptopia.uno https://www.crryptopia-login.net/ no button on this site is working except the login button

real cryptopia site https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/
if you get something like the https://xn--crytopia-oe0d.com/Login/ dont use it! make sure the url is same with this onehttps://www.cryptopia.co.nz/

always check the URL of the website your visit before filling in your details,

if you google search cryptopia the first 2 ads you will get are scams!
1. www.cryptopia.uno the first one
2. www.cryptopia.co.nz, when you click on the link it will take you to https://xn--crytopia-oe0d.com/Login/ the second one

Watch out.

These are one of the reason google is plaining on stopping crypto ads
This is another information worth commending because a whole lot of people might have fallen scam of this activity and would blame the owner of the real cryptopia for being responsible. These are part of the issues that is making Google to consider the banning of crypto related ads because it's always the sponsored ads that come first as a suggestion to lure unsuspecting individuals to fall prey of such action. Thanks op.

Yes nowadays we could see lots of new crypto exchanges emerging. So just like a fake electrum website scammed many bitcoin users, now many scammers have started to use this technique to steal people's investments. So we should recheck twice before logging in.

If we are frequently open those sites, the browser would be suggesting us from browsing's history, but sometimes we clean it up.

So they are using Google AdWords to beat the real Cryptopia on Google search result, right? Cause those ads would appear at the top of search result pages. Then visitor will think that is the real one. Even they are using SSL.

Big thanks for this helpful info. Wink
Maybe bookmarking webpage would save us from a phishing site like that. If someone here didn't know how to bookmarking page, just hit Ctrl+d or something like this. (but a bookmarking webpage is basic knowledge, and I'm sure everyone knows it)

Thank you for the information, can never be too careful out there.  The scams are getting ridiculous, and I agree its almost a good thing that Google is stopping the ads.

yeah I agree- there are too many crypto exchanges popping up all over the place.  The main problem is the lack of regulation in certain parts of the world where they have more important priorities to deal with than people buying crypto.
