It took me a while to realize you were talking about Education and the priorities some people have on entertainment over their educational duties. I thought at first you were talking about some study/scientific work which had found some negative correlation between watching critcket matches and health. I don't know. Tongue

Anyways, Cricket and watching it is just another form of spending ones time and get some amusement, not to get bored. The same thing can be said about watching any other matches and sports, like football, baseball, soccer, golf; one could go even further and talk about matching electronic sports for fun (depending whom you ask, those are actual sports or not). It is all about priorities and setting things right, nothing in excess is health, entertainment included. It is not the same watching recorded critcket matches all day than just dedicating a few hours a week, so one can take care of studying and doing shores around the house.

Honestly, I would be very weird to me if someone anyone adviced against following a sport, in general it is one of the most harmless things one could do with ones spare time and encourages the youth to do physical excessive, assuming they get enthusiastic enough to partake in the sport as well. I am not in doubt of your opinion OP but personally, I don't feel any hurt able exercise about it.
Watching the game for entertainment and the same time studying about the game based on their performances, capacities and their formations enhances your analogical mindsets to be on good stance of making possibility right predictions that could tender you winning bets.

Have you ever tried to dedicate some time to study those entertainers? How many uneducated persons do you find or have you seen doing the job of entertaining others?
If you were a teacher, would you advice your students to rather watch a match and engage in betting rathe than read their books during an exam period?

Lets try as much as possible not to advice amiss when ever we advice, I believe some of us here have wife and children, how can I advice my child to spend his or her study time watching cricket? While those playing the cricket didnt do same while they were growing up, and besides, why cricket in particular?

There is time for everything, time to study and time for entertainment, sensible people should know when to play and when to study, for the entertainers themselves are educated people, they are not illiterates, how can we ourselves become entertainers in the future if we do not study now, but spend our study time watching cricket?

If it is then all sports have bad effects on us because it ain't like we are just betting there, we are also analyzing the games where we use a lot of effort to research the possible results of the game.

We need entertainment to release our stress but it's less important than studying because studying is what can shape our future. The T20 is making things very difficult... yes it's only a limited amount of overs and it is faster than 1day cricket matches, but you only have a few hours in a day.

You sleep for +/- 8 hours ... so that leaves you with 16 hours and then you still have to go to class or work for 8 hours, leaving you with 8 hours and then the cricket takes 4 hours... leaving you with 4 hours to study and all the other things you have to do. (House tasks)

The T20 are also every day for a whole month, so you do not have breaks between the matches.

Put things at its place. If you are studying and having a certain goal perhaps passing the examinations or getting high grdes then it is not only cricket watching you should limit but also other activities, to maintain your focus. Indeed it is entertaining, but as others have mentioned, you should know how to prioritize and give importance to what matters more for you. In this case, first of all, I wanna say that if the person is irresponsible on his study then not only just watching and betting on cricket will effects on his study in every entertainment source can make bad impact on this study. Distraction from studies is not just the effect of Cricket betting but betting on all other games can have a bad effect on your studies, it can take up important time that you use in study and make you start challenging that time into analyzing games to see which game to play. This challenge is the same with anything that is entertaining because so much of entertainment may put you in a state of comfort that you forget what is important and needs to be done.

that is very true. when you are in front of the screen and been watching, you won't know that the time just passes by. and you will miss some of your tasks to complete your studies. so yeah, before you start binge watching and betting, know what you need to do with your studies. aim not only to pass but as much as possible, get good grades because you can't go back to those courses once you finished. don't regret your actions later on.

I love watching cricket and I do since my childhood but it never affected my studies in any way and cricket matches may happen every day but the country you love may not be playing every day and even IPL only scheduled in the summer holidays of school in India.

The reason behind that is because your focus will be divided to watching the game and studying. Watching the game might doesn’t affect on studying for some people but the average people doesn’t have a mind to easily catch up on studying while they still have the entertainment that they get on watching the game.

I remember during my college days when I’m already taking my licensure exam for my profession. It took me 3 months to review since I need to cover all my years of studying for 5 years in just a short time. I completely turn off all kind of entertainment just to focus on study. I manage to passed the licensure exam and enjoy watching all day long after.

There’s nothing wrong on sacrificing your entertainment in short term for a result that you will benefit for a life time because you can watch unlimited cricket when you graduated or during your vacation.

It's all just priorities. A student should always choose to study and parents shouldn't give their students extra money for their kids unless it's necessary. Extra money for a student means they can do something out of their school. It may sound harsh but it's a way to keep them on the right path.

Too early for students to bet on games although they may learn this eventually, they shall learn it with the money they earn themselves not from the money given by their parents. Just look at the kid who took his life after losing the money for the school fees, I think all of us read that thread.

Absolutely not, because it provides you with entertainment but at the same time, it also has a bad effect from somewhere because if you watch and bet on cricket all day so you can't find time to study and if you see a test match so it will be more harder to study.

But you should watch cricket because it is like entertainment and entertainment is more important than studying.
