Unfortunately, having lost the seed key, you lose your crypto currency. Now you need to save again your crypto currency and now do not lose the keys for access. Buy yourself a Ledger Nano.

The seed of waves is just like private key, one time generated can't be restored. If you don't have much funds in the wallet then recreate a new wave and take precautionary measures next time in order not to misplaced such important document.

created a new Waves wallet online a few months ago, and wrote down the seed in notepad and saved it.  Skip ahead, laptop broke, backed up most of my files, but can't find this seed file.

I have the actual waves address and the password to sign in, just not the seed.  is there any hope?

I use https://waveswallet.io and https://beta.wavesplatform.com

Thanks.

The seed is very important to recover your waves, if you can't get your seed then mostly you will not able to get back your coins.

You should learn to store your seeds or private keys in many ways like writing down those keys on a paper or different storing devices.

I think you dont have any hope because wallet seed is private key for that your waves wallet. Only from that seed possible to access your wallet account. So use this case to make sure you keep the wallet seed in place that easy to access it and far from third party. Its better to write down that wallet seed in the paper and keep in the safe place.

in short, your waves and the tokens in it are lost. this has happened to many people unfortunately. not only waves, but on any wallets.
if you have significant amount in wallet, it's wise to backup on more than one device to be sure.

Waves address or even the username being used would be useless yet you would need always those phrases before you would able to sign-in on waves wallet. As far as i remember everytime you do log in on the wallet you would need up either on using the same password or create a new password but it do requires seed anytime. The last resort as of now is to find that seed on your laptop since you say that you have backed up everything this is the only way.
