Hi! whats a good setting for my p104-8gb to mine eth?
i have no problem with etc.. but with eth i have strange result..
now they are going with PL 75% + 225 core - 350 mem...33/34 mhs..
any attempt to put positive mem leads me to loss hashrate..
they are Asus p104-100 with bios 86.04.7A.00.19 and driver 471.96.

thanks

Sovryn - Brings DeFi to Bitcoin
upd. solution found: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/208828/208828 thanks darkneorus!

use nvflash to flash your card which is not asus or gigabyte, you'll get all 8GB working on board.

anyone knows how to open all 8GB VRAM on P104-100 to mine Grin31?

it should be done with bios modding.

Put the 4gb card on sell right now through eBay or other and use the money to invest in altcoins or btc right now since gpu are presently overpriced, if mining is your thing then consider it later after you made some money investing in BTC, trying to unlock this card to 8gb is pointless

I flashed my ASUS p104-100 4GB with NVIDIA P104-100 8GB bios from techpowerup. There was a minor device subsystem id mismatch which I overwrote with -6 on the command line, rebooted the machine, and the card is fully unlocked to 8GB with absolutely no issues. Overclocked ram to 750 and getting 40MH/S on ETH.

Hi
Do you have a document explaining how you did it
asus and palit
I will use for these
Thank you

I'm going to try this afternoon with an Asus card. Do you have any news or extra tips? I saw there was no answer but maybe you figured out how to do it!

The cards have been reflashed many times for safety always with parameters

nvflash64 --protectoff
nvflash64 -6 MyRom.rom

plus a slow card is running with the stock bios (8g unlocked on the PCB)

The reflash was done directly on the rig and also on another PC.

So I assume the problem is not in the reflash.

But thanks anyway every attempt is appreciated  Cheesy

I am now investigating the IRQ assignment  Huh

ok Alex I tried ... Good results even without overclocking the mems too much ...

But it remains to be seen why half cards go at 35mh and half go at 28mh / s ...
I will disassemble 2 boards to compare the pcb to find any differences ..

Try to rewrite bios 8gb on the half slow.. maybe you  forgot to remove protection For every card with nvflash64 --protectoff ? I had a card that apparently had been flashed but I forgot to remove the protection and went in zombie mode

Thanks Alex I had read about this problem related to the TLB ..
What I can't understand is why with ETH half cards go to 35/36 Mh / s and the other half goes to 28 Mh / s ...
Shouldn't they all go slow or fast the same?
With etc having a lower DAG no problem all the cards go at 40+ Mh / s ..

try powerlimit 75 core +120 mem+25
with these setting 34/35 mhs in eth

my p104 mining eth now lose mhs over mem+25!!!!

hi guys just wanted to update you on my experiments..

Removing the smd at the bottom right (the one only in the row) I unlocked the 8 giga via pcb and I reflash the stock bios...

Apparently nothing has changed .. and unfortunately, as I already thought, the problem of low hash rate on some cards is not solved ..
I will check how it goes in these days and then at most I modify all the cards (just 5  Cry)

My stock bios, as you can see in the picture, is 86.04.7A.00.02 ... does anyone have if exist an updated stock bios for Zotac?

problem of low hash rate in eth with pascal cards it's not related with 8gb bios on p104.. its TLB fucking bug! mining etc should give more mhs..

Hi guys .. I wanted to try to compare the pcb configuration of my zotac p104-100 with the pcb of a Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 Mini that uses the same pcb with obviously a different configuration for the 8gb vram.
I can't find high resolution photos to see this area specifically.
Any help is welcome

i will try them out, i am getting a memory error, maybe card is broken

Your cards is not broken, you use wrong bios. You must use the right bios, or you will get memory errors, or card is instable, or have low hashrate and so on.

The good news is you can almost always flash it again and fix it with the right bios.

...me too ... Now I'm using 208828.rom which is the best of all but more instable.. very high current consumption .. low and instable Hashrate...

I am looking for a hardware solution... but I can't find high definition images of the pcb for comparison

i guess you still need a modded bios to run 8gb over 4. now i managed to get the card running at 4gb , have to test other 8gb bios but there are a lot of tricky things to do

Hi Guys .. looking in various forums I read about a solution to unlock the 8 gb of ram with a hardware modification on the PCB ...
Precisely by removing only one resistor (r832) ..
Leaving the stock bios unchanged and solving many problems with power & co.
Unfortunately I have not found anything on the Zotac video cards ..
Anyone have more information about it?

Anyone unlock colorful p104-100?  Tried a few of the firmware listed in this thread but won't flash.  Even the colorful firmware listed on techpowerup won't flash.

I get:

WARNING: Firmware image PCI Subsystem ID (10DE.1237) does not match adapter PCI subsystem ID (7377.0000)

Any advice is appreciated.

For my Zotac i use....

1 CMD as admin
2. nvflash64 --protectoff
3. nvflash64 -6 "MyRomName".rom

Thanks, that allowed the update and I see the 8Gb; however, only getting 20 mh (+700 mem / 65% power) on phoenix miner.

Windows?  If so grab one of the mining linux based OS that you can stick on thumbdrive.  I prefer mmpOS and for 8 gpus or less it wont cost a thing to try and use.  Others are HiveOS, SimpleOS, RaveOS and plenty more im sure i missed.

Currently getting 27mhs out of mine on mmpos

Yeah I use windows but I always have.  Something doesn't look right when I compare my gpuz against others.  Memory Mhz looks like it's 1/2 of what it should be?

https://imgur.com/3bxyzC3

I tried many bios before finding the right one for me.. a lot was power capped or have overheating problems
Now mining only ETC I went back to Stock Bios and now i mining at 40+ mh with 120w
But Thanks i will try to linux based OS

Tried a couple more flashes.  @32.5mh now / 120w with the zotac flash so much better.  I'll try the rest to see which is best.

Thanks all for your help.

Hi All

I have a couple of Inno 3D P104-100 4GB. Tried four different 8GB Bios on Techpowerup. All of them open to 8GB but GPU clock stuck at 139mh(30w power cap ) when doing any mining. I've read about this from various forums but by the looks of it this Inno 3D cards is a problem with Bios flashing for not operating like it should. People have seen success with especially EVGA, Asus cards etc and operating as normal.

Now I'm wondering if there might be anyone that has a magical P104-100 8GB bios that works with these Inno 3D cards?

Many Thanks

I flashed my inno3d p104-100 to this bios, works like a charm.  37.5mh @ 135w in phoenix miner.

Does anyone know, how is it possible to unlock 2560 CUDA cores?

Spec for P104 - Shader Units:  https://i.imgur.com/NROFi4X.jpg

I found this information, that someone wrote:

- 8GB of GDDR5X of which half are disabled via BIOS

- PCI-E 1.1 X4 enforced with BIOS, true hardware form PCI-E 3.0 X16

- Display engine is disabled with BIOS, the I / O ports are actually mechanically functional

- 1920 CUDA cores instead of the default 2560  (possibly all 2560 on board)

Thanks darkneorus!

I flashed this BIOS to the Gigabyte board. It was a success, I could mine Cortex with it.

There is a common (AFAIK) problem with fans max revs being about 75% of the stock BIOS and Afterburner does not report memory consumption correctly (always 8192 MB used).

upd. there is a 8 GB vbios on techpowerup - https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/208828/208828.
flashed that file to my Palit P104-100s - and it's working, 8 GBs of RAM became available.
but for some reason with this vbios the card starts to throttle itself with soft power cap at 30-40 W, despite showing correct 180W power limit in nvidia-smi output. so overall performance is lower.

cheers m8, i'm currently using HiveOS, which shows no diff with normal 4GB ver. I'll use a hardware power meter to find out how much more power it is using. thx a lot.

Okay, i flashed one P104-100 and it show me the 8GB in Hive OS.
But if i want to mine with that, i get no hashrate.

ETH phoenix Miner
BEAM bminer

no Hashrate.
what`s wrong?

that`s working for me.

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/208828/208828

In ETH - i dont see something new. look´s like i get around 1 mhs more. from 38,5 to 39,5mh/s
In BEAM - i got from 8-9 to 18-19 thats good, but not profitable.

The new BIOS does unlock the full 8GB but it's sometimes a bad idea for some of the 'mining cards' since the original BIOS sometimes come with custom timings. There is also a diff between Samsung (best) and other brands of RAM. The 42+ mh/s is definitely on mining bios, with custom memory straps, and mining bios.

Hello,

I just bought the Asus P104-4g

https://cryptomining-blog.com/9435-first-impressions-form-the-asus-mining-p104-4g-gpu/

I have read on this thread that is possible to unlock the card for a total of 8gb and PCIe 3.0 but then someone reported back that its just a bios gimmick and not true.

Can anyone please verify if we can truly unlock the card and what is actually unlocked and if it comes at a cost ?  ( instability lets say )
Also the card has hidden hdmi and display port connector hidden behind the back-plate are these unlocked with the bios update ?

Thank You
Merry Xmas

100% verified for EVGA and MANLI cards so there is zero reason why you can't unlock yours if they are mining model. You should be able to find a bios pretty easily. I'm sure there are even youtube video's of how to do it.

Also, I can verify that you can unlock P102-100 to 10GB DDR5X, not sure where to get the BIOS but it's definitely a thing on at least some cards.

I'm here to report that - even though the cards flash successfully with a variety of ROMs found >HERE< - they do not function correctly afterwards. Some become too hot, some report vastly inaccurate hashrate readouts, others are stuck on 30W power limit, and others have the fan settings stuck on some value that cannot be adjusted.

Ultimately, they were all limited by power (down to 30W), and had issues with hashrate reporting.

My P104 GPUs are by INNO3D.
do you still have these gpus  ?

Try one of the BIOs listed here. It doesn't matter that is Gigabyte or not as long as it P104. I suggest using HIVEOS to flash your cards as well.

Anyone got more info on how to tune the card after flash?

Your going to use more power so just be careful. Other than that not much. Also that BIOs MAY not work, I had to try a varation of BIOs on my P104s to find ones that unlocked it.

Hope it's not off topic but i can't find whether this has been asked before, is it possible that the p106 also has 8gb soldered on board? Currently the p106 is the counterpart of the 1060 6gb and so if the p104 has 8gb hidden inside it, is it possible the p106 has too?

I've read about some hacks to the p106 to make it usable for gaming, so maybe theres one for unlocking more GB too?

P106 is a basically a full GTX1060 6GB there is not further way to unlock it.

I've flash my P104-100 to "8GB" bios provided here but still runs out of ram when launching the DAG. guess it's just a BIOs trick? Edit: Just had to try various BIOs found one that worked which unlocked 8GB albeit it uses more power than before.

that`s working for me.

In ETH - i dont see something new. look´s like i get around 1 mhs more. from 38,5 to 39,5mh/s
In BEAM - i got from 8-9 to 18-19 thats good, but not profitable.

upd. there is a 8 GB vbios on techpowerup - https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/208828/208828.
flashed that file to my Palit P104-100s - and it's working, 8 GBs of RAM became available.
but for some reason with this vbios the card starts to throttle itself with soft power cap at 30-40 W, despite showing correct 180W power limit in nvidia-smi output. so overall performance is lower.

cheers m8, i'm currently using HiveOS, which shows no diff with normal 4GB ver. I'll use a hardware power meter to find out how much more power it is using. thx a lot.

Okay, i flashed one P104-100 and it show me the 8GB in Hive OS.
But if i want to mine with that, i get no hashrate.

Does anyone have a P102 bios with unlocked memory?

Even if someone does... it will not necessarily be compatible with your particular GPUs. The extra RAM may get unlocked, but you'll have various issues with cooling, clock speeds, power limitations, etc.

Aye aye captain! Still it doesn't mean it's not worth tinkering with.

Hi:
Are you successful? Or have you found the bios for P102 10GMem? If possible, would you please send a copy for me? [email protected], Thanks a lot!

My P104 GPUs are by INNO3D.

p104-100 basically 1080 hashrates after flashed to 8gb?

Negative, it just allows more memory to be used. It's still a wierd mix of 1070 shaders and 1080's GDDR5x

To get 42.8 - 43+ MH/s, I did the following:

1. Download the latest Claymore v14.6 -> https://mega.nz/#F!O4YA2JgD!n2b4iSHQDruEsYUvTQP5_w

2. Set up .bat file -> EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool IP_POOL:PORT -ewal ETH_WALLET.rig1 -epsw x -mode 1 -strap 4 -sintensity 50
(sintensity let it be in the range from 1 to 100) find that is stable.

"Strap 4" is the most important here, because it reduces low memory latency.

3. In MSI AfterBurner, sets the memory clock of 730+ to how much it can be stable. Power limit can be reduced to a voltage of about 900mv.

This card gives 43.2 MH/s at 800 OC memory.

Please, let me know if it works 8GB on the Asus P104-100. I really need this information.

You can try some of these bioses:

Thanks darkneorus!

yup, I've uploaded it to techpowerup. tried it for two days.
at first I thought that all is working fine, but then I've noticed that all reflashed GPUs are abnormally hot, even while mining eth. flashed back the stock vbios, got 10+ degrees C lower temps.

just google the board layout and u'll find the answer.
actually I have 148 P104s and my friend has done his upgrade from 4 to 8GB with posting his cards to flash. since I'm a CS student I want to find the way to flash my own.

So being a "computer science student" you want to ask other people on the internet how to do it instead of your friend that has already done it?  Pretty fucking stupid if you ask me.

lmfao, My friend bought the service from local dealer and the card need to be posted to the dealer and post back. in public domain, even TechPowerUp doesn't have any 8GB vbios of P104, and Btalk is the best bbs to ask ppl for help about mining. you even dont know how hard this problem is before insulting ppl, so stfu.

P.S. I've already got the VBios for P104, any brand without ASUS and GIGABYTE can open all 8GB mem I'll share it on TechPowerUp and give a link later.

why not just dump from your friends gpu using nvflash?

and btw, what brand gpus he has?

first of all P104-100 typically have only 4 GB of Ram.
4 GBs are available, but actually there are 8 GBs soldered on board.

So you think they were all suppose to be 8GB boards but some of them were defective so they just disabled 4GB and there must be a magical way to enable the rest of the RAM?  Roll Eyes
