Why do we blame blockchain technology? Will it become possible for us to build a transparent network which can fill data and seen by everyone? Only blockchain technology made it possible. If there is no blockchain as well as cryptocurrency, transparency and decentralisation still be nulled till now. These two innovative ideas help us to be an open minded.
The usefulness of a utility is very dependent on its users. We also must always be open to changes and developments. Cryptocurrency is an innovation that is full of controversy because of the high-risk rumours that have spread. Even if we want to learn more deeply, cryptocurrency and blockchain have many benefits for the progress of civilization.
Scammers and hackers are evolving too. They are studying and understanding the technology that lies with the trend. Those hypocrites keeps on saying that scams, hacks and frauds are increasing in crypto but they don't acknowledge on how big these incidents are happening in actual world involving the banks. We can't deny that these things really happened in crypto because it's a fact but criticizing crypto like that and keeps quiet on how these things occur in real world through the entire bank system is bias.
You are right and thanks for this post. This is the reason I don't give heed to those who say whatever they want about blockchain. They are quick to judge without taking time to study blockchain underlying tech to know what it is trying to solve.

The scam problem exist in all areas especially on centralized platforms but people seem to pretend as if these problems are unique to cryptocurrency alone. The problems will most likely never go away as long as humans still interact with one another.

You are very right about the fact that some people always like to twist the purpose of a thing for their own selfish interest. That's why people keep shouting that there is scam here and there. But that cannot by any means stop the great and impressive accomplishments made in cryptocurrency and even in the block chain. Since we are are that some people can hack or start scam project, any suspicious activity of such should be made known to cryptonaires so people can thread cautiously with that project. And in all, cryptocurrency cannot be stopped or hindered, regardless of how much people try to crush it with all manner of malicious behaviours
Yes, the bad ones in the society will always turn a good innovation for evil deals. programming is a good field of study, but some persons always use it for the negative selfish gain. The same thing with drug. You really can't stop these bad guys.

This technology is actually damn good developed. This is so true, it's high time people stopped blaming crypto and blockchain for crimes associated with it. To me, the fact that cryptocurrency has a dark side is what make the technology even worth more investing in. Although the investment has nothing to do with me patronizing the bad aspect like using cryptocurrency for drug/human trafficking or money laundering etc but because since there's a bad side to the technology there's also a good side and it's just a matter of time before the general public realized that to embrace the technology but by then it would be too late and I would love to be among the smart investor that saw that good side before others did like privacy, faster transactions, transparency etc to be among the benefiting cryptocurrency elite.
l find this statement really means this, I'm under dilemma in such situations, the crypto investors can not be blamed. It depends on people's beahviour. How to use it and what is the aim of doing so. l don't remember who said it, but it was something so. lt was discovered a knife to cut something, but people use it to kill each other. I don't think i can agree less with you. Every good thing has it's merit and demerit, bank are being asked now and then, as a result of this bank hasn't been criticized the way crypto has been receiving backslash from people, it's high time people start seeing the positive side of crypto and not only the negative side. This is true and good perception towards things and tech as a whole. Blockchain has proven its worth and value since we're seeing tech giants/big companies getting into crypto and use blockchain to improve their system as a whole. This is why I fully support legitimate blockchain projects that help reduce costs of maintaining the networks, transaction fees, and electricity usage. Which in result will help the environment in the long run. But at the same time, there will be people who will always look at crypto in a bad way because of previous experience such as them getting scammed or hearing stories of how it's being used in the black market.
What you are pointing out is the society and it cant be changed not unless a miracle is happened. Technology are part of the changes we ecounter daily and every opportunity, there are two types of people who grabs it on a different way. One makes a hard effort just to take that opportunity in a legal way and one grabs that opportunity to scam people who makes effort on something new like cryptocurrency. We cannot change all of these people but we can have our technology be more secured to prevent them.
I am happy and i love the point of view of the original poster of this thread. You can buy a laptop from any company, that is no crime, but how each user uses it is what differentiate a scammer from other people. Cryptocurrency on its own is harmless but how each person use it is what matters

This makes sense but the problem is, we need to find ways to maximize the good uses and minimize the bad uses of that invention. Scammer and corrupt people are in every sector not just cryptocurrency alone, every sectors including finance, health and banking sectors have seen hackers steal lots of funds and datas, It will be highly unreasonable to criticise cryptocurrency and blockchain technology for these acts.
we can always weigh the advantages vs its disadvantages. blockchain being used by many companies today including the coming facebook libra, its clear now that it has offer more benefits. the government for now may see it as a thread but if they start using it soon, they will see its advantages too. but there's always the bad sides just like any stories, the negative sides of it like the scams makes it more interesting for the scambusters.

The problem is we started off at the wrong foot when bitcoin was used in the black market for drugs and illegal activities. That is the image retained to those who are not exposed to cryptocurrency and do not fully understand bitcoin or blockchain. And then scammers are rampant in cryptosphere. Bitcoin can be used in good and bad things but in here the bad side is the one always exposed to the public. It is just a matter of exposing the good side of bitcoin more.

It may not be the fault of the gun if some mental nutjob shoots 100 people with it. However, the technological advance of the gun means it is actually possible for a nutjob to kill 100 people at once, whereas with a knife the damage would be far less. You can't expect a scorpion to not be a scorpion, and many people are just bad to their core so don't give them a gun or the financial equivalent.
All depends on how you use it, any technology has positive and negative values, including cryptocurrency. We can use a lot of positive things, but if someone uses it for a crime I think it's not the fault of the technology. I respond with very positive thinking.

The risk is the people who were trying to do some illegal works when there are some new they are using its weakness to make some money on it, the inventions are always there together with the dark side of the people who were trying to do illegal.

you have a point, and I now the media shifted every attention to cryptocurrency talking about the hacks and stolen money and the banks thinks it's good for them. No one talks about the scam in the banking system because they all cover it up
The problem is not in crypto or blockchain technology so that we cannot blame them. But in the person, the team/people who do or use this technology for their benefit. Sometimes they are only focused on raising money, without thinking about the future of crypto or what the technology wants. Moreover, there are many scammers who often make people disappointed and afraid to invest in crypto or blockchain technology.

The code (Blockchain and crypto) can't be blamed but the party that must be blamed is the user. I agree about that and so many parties are putting crypto as the main thing to be blamed but they forget the human was a party that can use it for good or bad things.
