Hi everyone,

William here!

Over the last few weeks, we created a website called bitbargains.io, which aims to offer a deal/coupon site, but for only stores that accept bitcoin or other crypto currency.

The reason why we created this is because as most of us agree, crypto use will be a key driver for mainstream adoption, and right now, there are a growing number of places where you can use your bitcoin, most charge a high fees (even though the merchant might actually save on their usual mastercard/visa fees etc). I don't know if this is due to the payment gateways, or the merchants themselves.

We have reached out to alot of merchants over the last few weeks and have received a very response, we now have around 10 merchants who have setup coupons specifically for bitcoin users, from $5 cashback to 15% off all orders.

Would love to get some feedback from the community here. As well as if you have any suggestions on new merchants to add, or maybe you are a merchant yourself and would love to add your business to our site.

It's still early days, so looking forward to growing the site.

Will

Thanks for your post, Will.  Your results were very encouraging, but I was wondering if you could provide some additional quantitative data.  For example, you mentioned that 10 merchants have set up coupons for bitcoin users.  You cite a couple of examples, but it would be really interesting if you could supply some additional detail on the other discounts or coupons being offered and correlate those offers with results.  In other words, has your analysis indicated whether there is a threshold amount of discount needed to entice purchasers?  I would like to see a graph of data showing the relationship between the level of incentives and the volume of customer purchases.  The more quantitative data the stronger the arguments for using crypto get.

Nice, didn't know Anthrax and Five Finger are accepting cryptos.
I guess I know where my monthly spending goes Tongue
Try to create service announcement topic too, that should attract more attention.

@OP
Can you add ZenVPN?
It's a Singapore Based VPN Service, it offers 50% discount for every purchase made with Bitcoin
I was just wondering what incentive these merchants have to do this? I know some merchants will do this, because they support the cause, but what monetary incentive do they have to do this? We previously approached these merchants and substantiated the use of discounts, because they paid less fees on their transactions.

How do you guys approach these merchants and what motivation are there for them to do this? If we know your strategy, then we might approach some merchants on our own and refer them to your site, once these discounts was negotiated with them.  Huh
Some store already accepting cryptos to begin wtih, they would probably experiment with cryptos in hope that the price would rise someday giving them a higher profit in long term.
As for coupons, OP probably strikes a deal with those website that allows him to create his own custom coupons, it's already a thing between Youtuber and his sponsors, or he simply has connections to do this Wink

I want to ask one thing. Should we join a discount website that you refer to if our money is safe? Is it guaranteed to be confidential in our dealings? I enjoyed the discount sites as it would save my money. What are the requirements for first-time attendance?

First of all, I really love design of the website it's really clean and fast of course.

We now have 77 coupons from around 70 merchants!

Also added a bunch from Monero's Project Coral Reef project (Up to 15% off various retailers when you spend with Monero)
Well I'm a type of person who didn't spend my bitcoin for purchasing something on the internet and i believe not only myself but also other people prefer to use altcoin than bitcoin so for this reason i think it's a good step if you can add more merchants which accept altcoin as payment method, just my suggestion.

Your Idea is cool. In order to have more merchants in your client-list give them more opportunity to promote their goods, to advertize themself. Explain how they could be advertized at new trendy platforms connected to crypto community.  Every merchant want to see the result of their involvemnt in crypto field. So show them that they win in any case. For instance launch some polling in social network with a simple question: " At what merchant/chain would you like to pay in crypto" and give the list of merchant to vote for. Then show the results to the potential client for consideration. Any experienced and trendy businessman will accept the crypto if he could have some research like this with true results and vision of future coperation.

Just reaching out to the community, how many people have spent their crypto online? What kind of merchants did you use, and how was the experience?

There are no Ads in the page, and it's (making it) clean. I'd also checked and there's no malicious programs either, that's great.
I bet that the current daily visitors count isn't that phenomenal, right.
But as one of the pioneers that offers services like this, you may gain the mainstream's trust after a while which is all you need to be on top.

How do you monetize your service? If you don't mind.

Thanks for the kind feedback. We do have a few ads on some of the coupon page, but we tried to keep the homepage clean!

Currently, we dont really have any monetizing, except for a few ads and some affilliate links, but our focus right now is on bringing as many awesome deals to the community as possible.

If the merchant had us choose between offering and affiliate commission vs extra discounts for the customer, we would always choose a better deal for the community.

I am very supportive of projects like this. I have been saying for a while that Bitcoin merchants should make Bitcoin use more attractive for users, by offering them discounts. If you walk into a shop and they display a banner that says, "Pay with Bitcoin and get a 15% discount on the price.".... would you rather pay with cash or credit card or would you consider exploring Bitcoin?

This is a huge marketing tool for Bitcoin adoption, but it is under utilized. ^hmmmmm^

Putting up rebates and discounts really is a great marketing tool. Some consumers get triggered just by seeing the words "discounted" or "sale" even if it's just for a small percentage. This would encourage the bitcoin users, or better yet, for the regular consumers of these merchants to avail of bitcoins as a payment system. Hopefully in the future, more merchants or retail stores will give out discounts or coupons like how you would do in your website. This would definitely facilitate to more bitcoin use then may lead to mainstream adoption.

Another WP blog you means ?  https://bitbargains.io/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fbitbargains.io%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

Nobody can trust a business service based on a CMS like yours.

Thanks for your response,

Appreciate your viewpoint, but I am just wondering what is wrong with Wordpress?

Our service is in convincing merchants to offer great deals for the crypto community, and then connecting these merchants with customers. Wordpress is just a tool that we use to convey the information in a nice usable way.

Love to hear your thoughts!

Hey Bitbargains Team,

Great Concept and Idea!

Are you guys planning top extend the idea with affiliation program as well?

Maybe iframe of the service so that merchants could also connect this coupon promotions to their site?

Hope to hear about future development and see the progress with the time! Smiley

Thanks for the feedback guys!

About a week in, we have now over 40 merchants who have agreed to give discounts for crypto use (a few of them are general coupons that apply to both fiat and crypto, but at least you can get discount with crypto Cheesy )

We are still waiting to hear back from around 70 merchants, and have a list of another 100 or so we are slowly contacting, it's taken alot of work, but the support has been well worth it. We have already reports from some of the merchants who have had several successful crypto sales!

It is indeed a promising project. We know many websites are already offered the same ideas but focused on the FIAT currencies. And this is a completely a leap ahead for cryptocurrencies scene and ecosystem. So, It would be indirectly a good way to help widely spread cryptocurrency adoption.

A little bit suggestion. I feel your websites is lack of marketing, maybe if your team working on about the marketing and branding stuff. The more merchants will acknowledge the project.
